Most of these rankings won’t get super controversial will we get into the top 20…. The only people who get salty over the bottom 30 of the list is if that player was your fav player or something and he was ranked lower than some other dude….

Nick, I've not even watched the episode yet, and even if we end up disagreeing I know what I'm about to watch is gold. You are a savant. I watch all of your work and though we disagree somewhat on your goat stance, you always have a great an exceedingly intelligent take on everything you do, and for that you have a lifetime fan. Keep up the amazing work good sir.

yeah, I've known about Barry for decades but didn't know he was so dominant in the NBA playoffs. I can tell you, I saw his son Brent SHUT DOWN a Magic Johnson All-Star game slam dunk contest dunking and C-walking, lol, in Inglewood back in the 90s. That kid was a helluva athlete in his early years. It didn't come from nowhere...
My feeling is that if people are going to give Dr. J credit for his ABA career, you've gotta do the same for Barry.

Have to admit it Nick's job definitely takes more than just watching a basketball game and then reciting what you saw. Nick obviously has done a tremendous amount of research over the years on this sport and that takes hard work and dedication...but the players still will call people like Nick,Stephen A,Skip and Broussard who never played at a high level "dweebs" Being a sports analyst clearly isnt as easy as it looks.

I just can't wait and hope that I'm still around to watch another New York Knicks championship! It was some of the best basketball that I ever watched as a youngster because that's exactly what I was at that time. I saw when Willis came out after not being sure if he was going to play again. That has to be the, or at least one of the most exciting, thrilling, unique moments in NBA history hands down.
This is a very well researched and thoughtful list. Great work Nick.
What would be a very special treat is a list comparing say, Jordan's, Magic, Bird's, Barkley's era, to say Lebron's, Mellow, KD, Harden, Westbrook era, up until today. See if in fact today's guys are just as or better, regardless of the rule changes. That would be a really awesome take or list. Thanks.
It's a tough call with many players. Ewing ahead of Frazier? Might have to adjust that one.

Yeah, the jazz system did to Stockton’s assist numbers what the D’Antoni system did to James harden’s scoring numbers. If you go back and watch Utah jazz games, the overwhelming majority of Stockton’s assists aren’t really impressive passing displays or crazy high IQ plays. Just tons of pocket passes, and dribbling up and throwing it to a PF who happens to be possibly the best mid range shooter ever who just did turn around post shots the second he caught the ball. I don’t remember the exact stats, but another pg before Stockton took over in the jazz system was a pure scoring pg who averaged something like 3 apg in college, got dropped into the jazz system and started averaging something like 9 apg. He’s still a great player, but his assist stats are really bloated from the jazz system

    20. Robinson
    21. CP3

    23. Wade
    24. Luka??

Maybe if you were doing peak to peak but most accept that “greatest of all time” lists have a significant longevity/accomplishment factor and Kawhi simply doesn’t measure up there

He's honestly in a good spot.
His peak has been very short.
As a top 10 player he has only been that for about 5-6 years. That alone shouldn't put him above guys like melo, paul gasol, pierce, bosh.
Fortunately for him he won a chip with san Antonio and the raptors. At his peak Kawhi has been a top 5 player and probably top 4 for a year or two.
Once again I honestly find it hard to put him top 30 with that resume.

I was enjoying nicks list until he made the comment Ewing was not as impactful as Stockton.. many of these tv analyst really do not study the game unfortunately..Some of them have this narrative of trying to elevate Stockton’s career even said he’s better then Isaiah Tomas..it’s becoming ridiculous.. Ewing never played with another HOF player yet carried his team to the finals and lost in 7. He didn’t join a big 3 or rode the coattails of a HOF power forward..CONTEXT is desperately needed in these convos

I'm not sure if you understand this Nick, so I'm going to put it in Lebron perspective for you. All time stat leaders matter most. It's the reason people will still look at Lebron as the GOAT in 100 years. Kidd at #27? Theoretically #1 in steals and #1 in assists, being that Stocktons are out of reach. #27???? If Stockton isn't #26 I won't understand. A steal is the most beneficial in-game achievement there is. Championships are TEAM achievements and shouldn't be mentioned or taken into consideration. Top 50 players not teams. (Best player on a championship team )doesn't matter much either when Scottie Pippin is the second best player in the league, and you also have 3 of the 5 best defenders in the league, the best coach, the best team, and COINCIDENTALLY the best record EVER. What does Lebron's passing of Kareem's record mean for his GOAT argument? Judging by your standards, nothing.
