- A crisp and amazing rendition of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma's popular composition in Raga Kamavardhini by his descendant Prince Rama Varma, accompanied by Sri S.R.Vinu, Dr.G.Babu, Majoor Sri Unnikrishnan and Payyannur Sri Govindaprasad during an informal concert at Thiruvananthapuram.

Truly one of the finer contemporary performances of this krithi. His forebear must be incredibly pleased with such a delightful rendition of his composition. Sometimes the appeal of popular krithis is lost by frequent rendition / listening. Key to this classy performance is how the Prince has chosen this kalapramAnam and structured the swara sequence. Sri Vinu is one of the finest violinists from “God’s own country”, matches every nuance of the Prince with his own riposte. The percussion vidwans and the mukharshanku exponent elevate the overall concert experience. A special mention of the ever smiling tambura vidwan who is a constant in the Prince’s concerts and makes his own silent contribution. Possibly the nth time I am listening, was compelled to write a comment now on listening to the swara treatment.

Tanpura is played by Ananthapadmanabhan. Per Shri Rama Varma he also sings everyday in a Temple. If I remember right, The Wonderful Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruananthapuram.
I believe the Thampura is 100+ years old.
