- For this installment of #tiptuesday, Dylan Soler talks about downsizing, more so the concept of taking his time with it. At PD, we love to see people learning to maximize the performance of the wing they are on before progressing to a smaller one. Check out Dylan’s reasons behind his canopy progression!

Well said, Dylan!! I too am on a Sabre 3 150 loaded around 1.55. I have really started learning the characteristics of how my wing responds when I fly it in different scenarios. The Sabre 3 definitely inspires confidence!
Ridiculously wise words man. Well done
Great words of wisdom! I fly a Pilot after returning to the sport and I too love free fall and canopy flight but most importantly is landing safely without injury so I can enjoy more jumps and be in it another day.
Choose your wing and loading based on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to swoop, you should fly a high performance parachute at a higher wingloading or you'll just be learning the wrong sight pictures and recovery arcs. If you just want a parachute you can jump all the time, take note of normal winds and other hazards at the DZ. I generally like flying at greater than a 1.0 wing load in most circumstances. If you want to do CRW, you won't want to try it with a VK, just the same as if you are wingsuiting.
I don't think that everyone needs to maximize the potential of a 260sqft student canopy they learned before moving into the next discipline. I think people should try new parachutes before they've mastered their last because then they can just figure out their own best wing load and wing type for where they are at in the sport. I think is more important for people to set goals and settle on choosing a parachute that they'll fly for multiple seasons because there isn't really anything to be gained by flying a smaller or higher performance wing if you already have all the performance you need.
What a handsome fella!
you say this cause you never enjoyed a loaded 107 katana.. ^^
❤️
Great message, but a professional fun jumper? Fun jumping is your profession…..paid occupation. I’ve been doing it wrong for years!
Pfft. You’ll never earn a SoFPiDaRF t-shirt talking like that.
At least he demonstrates he can reach his PC ;)
@@christianbowers8728 😂 fair. I’ve now gone more than 60 jumps without a malfunction though, which is almost a record for me.
