Candace is actually really simple: She just wants her mom to know she isn't a liar. She doesn't actually want her brothers to get hurt or into any serious trouble. Hell, she actually enjoys quite a few of the things they make. But sadly, it's no secret that Linda has no idea what the full scope of her sons abilities are and there have been a few times where we see that it's actually for the best as she tends to overreact. Because Phineas and Ferb have very high luck, the more impressive stuff is always gone by the time Linda shows up. Since she was a little girl, Candace has wanted to share all the fun she and her brothers got up to as a result of their inventions but since her mom never sees these inventions, she dismisses her daughters stories as whimsical tales of an over imaginative child. This hurts Candace deeply as she wants to be able to talk to her mother about the things in her life but, as long as Linda continues to be oblivious to what her sons get up to, she's never going to be taken seriously. Her frequent attempts to bust the boys are her way of trying to force the universe into redeeming her in her mothers eyes. She's just angry and stressed from years of being denied a healthy, honest mother/daughter relationship as a result of her brothers actions. It's genuinely really sad.
this!! candace isn't a bad person at all, she's just worried about her brother's safety and wants to get one up on them as they constantly outshine her. she's just a typical sister who genuinely cares about her brothers but is simultaneously jealous of them and craving true affection from her mother
Jasmine Penrith I mostly agree with the original comment, but not this one. Because if Candace was actually genuinely concerned for their safety, then why would she not just tell Phineas and Ferb that? Phineas and Ferb seem very easy to talk to and they do whatever she asked them to so if Candace went up to them and said ” hey guys I’m not sure that this is very safe for you to be doing“ then they would look at it and they would be like OK we’ll do something else. And if she genuinely was only afraid for their safety then how come she seems to derive so much glee from The idea of getting them in trouble? I don’t think she’s a bad person but she is annoying and if it was really about the relationship between her and her mom then how come her life goal is to get her brothers in trouble and not to have a healthy relationship with her mom. She can have a healthy relationship with her mom in other ways it’s an obsession and it’s not really explained.
She’s jealous and indenial she cares about them more than stupid evidence when phineas told her to grab the evidence she saved his life
WOW!!!! You hit the nail right on the head!!! I always felt sorry for Candace! No she is not a bad person........at all. And this is just a guess but another reason Candace probably tries to rat her brothers out is perhaps she is a little jealous of what her brothers build sometimes and wishes she could do it too......and of COURSE it is frustrating and sad when your own mother never believes you, and your brothers never tell your mom the truth.

The typical: "fiend in heavenly clothes". She is even able to scare Candace, who is who knows how much older than her, and Buford, who is portrayed as the typical tough bully.

*Fun* *fact* : Phineas's early character design had him actually being the stereotypical bratty little brother, but Dan and Swampy scratched that because they understood that he might not be that likable. The closer we have ever seen to that early Phineas (except from Candace's imaginations) is in the title sequence, on the line "driving your sister insane" when he mockingly paints on what he thinks is her portrait.

isabella wasn't mad because she wasn't getting the attention, she was mad because candace didn't do shit to get those 50 badges, it was all set up for her. While Isabella actually had to work for all of her achievements. And on top of that candace didn't know what she was doing and was flying by the seat of her pants, and the girl (forgot her name) followed her.

Personally, I would put Ferb above Phineas. We never see what Ferb wants to do for the day. If Phineas wants to build something, it is done. Isabella wants a patch, they help. Baljeet wants to climb a mountain, they do it. Buford loses his fish they find it. Ferb is willing to help and not do what he wants to do

I see Doof being more of a chaotic neutral than being fully evil, he just has a lot of problems venting out his frustrations in a healthy way, due to him not having any friends thanks to his terrible parents forcing him to do ridicules stuff for their personal gain or to humiliate their son.
Yeah same I would have though he would have been like, middle of Grey area just considering he isnt always evil, and by the end of the show you can clearly see that he is trying to change his ways (and pretty quits being evil by time the gang is teenagers), and he is clearly the greatest disney dad out there, and his evil doing is most likely from his past, which ngl, he, handled himself as a kid fairly well for being neglected like he did. As far as Heinz, let's not forget his ultimate act of good where someone is flirting with Vanessa and Doof tells the boy that she is 16 before zapping him. Now that is a good deed
I think the villains who are caring with their offsprings are too common and very predictable. Plus, his love for Vanessa is unlike father-daughter relationship, it's closer to romantically love. Dr. Doof being divorced for a long time doesn't help.
And the one with the bees where bees attack vannessa and her friend group (the entire group is allergic to bees) Doof covers himself in honey and says You leave my baby girl alone!!!! And jumps into the lake

On Candace's defense, when she screwed the timeline in Quantum Boogaloo and the series finale, it was by accident and she didn't know that the timeline will be screwed. In both episodes, when she realized what she did, she was quick to try and fix it.

Susie is the one who is really evil, she is selfish and vengeful. Meanwhile Doof had a terrible early life due to his parents, but he is not evil, and he knows it. That’s why he depends on Perry showing up every day, because Perry will always listen and stop Doof from going through with his ‘evil’ plots
despite being a villain, doof does have redeeming qualities like how he cares for vanessa, so he's not that bad in all honesty

Candace may be cranky but she’s a very sweet girl who really cares about her brothers.
And her busting obsession is not that simple, it’s more of a drive that made her life more interesting and not only helped her grow but also helped her relationships with her friends, her boyfriend and especially her brothers grow. She made mistakes but always fixed them. Dan povenmire said it himself if she did what the boys did she would get in trouble so it’s only fair.

They forgot to talk about how she actually cares about her brothers, and probably only tries to bust them because she doesn't feel comprehended. She actually saved them a few times before, and also sacrificed an opportunity to bust them just to stop Mitch from escaping. Also, her mother and Jeremy's little sister deserve to be way lower.
PS: this is not a hate comment, I'm just expressing my honest opinion on sone of the stuff here.

What I find super interesting about Buford is the fact that he outgrows being a bully, as shown in the high school episode. He’s quite a good example that bullying, which seems to be all many cartoon characters are defined as, can simply be an attempt for someone to find out who they actually are.

I kind of disagree with Doctor Dofenshmirt, he's just a lamb trapped in the wolf's body, he's lost due to all the abuse he had been through and never actually succeded in any of his deeds, therefore, I don' think he's truly evil, of course, he could have ruined someone's life at most times, but do you really a man like him wouldn't be able to find some compassion, when he's the lives that he ruined and quickly decided to change it back and apologize.

Honestly, I headcanon Phineas as Autistic. He and I share a lot of similarities such as lacking Emotional Awareness and having to focus on our hyperfixations to the point of hysteria. Heck, I'd probably be just as oblivious as Phineas to any girls crushing on me (unlikely but hey)
Same, and maybe Ferb too. I mean he is not only able to build huge machines that not even a professional adult would be able to make but it would explain why he is so quiet too. Oh, it would also explain why he knows unnecessary facts like how sharks have to keep moving forward or else they’ll drown

Glad you made this list. I can agree with most of it, but Candace and Buford should definitely be in the grey area. I would have liked to see a few more characters more evil than Doofenschmirtz here like Aloyse and 2nd Dimension Heinz.
Um Dr. Doofenschmirz isn't evil cause he's trying to be evil but fails also he's a man who have a sad past life and people treated him like shit.
They should of had the second dimension characters. That Candace would have definitely been on the good section.
@@darknova1552 Doofenshmirtz still did a lot of shitty things throughout the episodes, especially during the earlier seasons. As much as I love him I have to admit that he belongs to the bad side, even through I would have put him along the earlier spots and nowhere near a Top 3.

I like how in the movie, they more evil version of doof... d-d- whatever. The villain that Perry beats every episode. The more evil version nearly takes both dimensions, but gets stopped when he’s given a golden train to play with, I believe. I haven’t finished the video yet when I’m writing this, but I remember watching the movie several times, and that happens
