This sing was so awesome. I still lost to it all the time. Never gets old. I graduated in 1993, and everyone i was friends with was born in 74 and 75. I think thats why it meant so much when it came out in 93. The people in the vodeo gradyated and were the class of 74 75 in a Raleigh Highschool. It has an awesome melody and baseline.
My favorite singers can sing, but can amp up intensity, which Doug can do. Wailing works on certain songs, but no respect for screamers who wail and yell and cannot sing.
These guys are from where I live, Raleigh, NC. In fact, the high school at the beginning of this video was a conference rival of my high school. It's also where I took the SAT one of the two times I took it. They were sort of a big deal when I was in high school and starting college which was the time this song came out, since they were a local band that got their 15 minutes of fame. Some of my friends were fairly into them, but I never understood the appeal (and by this time I was heavily into Rush and these guys just don't stack up against Rush very well at all) - except for this song which I really like a lot. I noticed you were reacting to some of their stuff but I've been waiting to see if you did this song because it's really the only one I give a shit about. LOL I don't know if they still do this but I've seen videos of them doing local gigs around here in more recent years. Regarding what you like and why, I've given up trying to figure that out.
It’s not even close to their best song - not even on this album - pronunciation of the name is a bit off - but thanks for reviewing - these guys are great!
I like to joke that in our social media/ instant gratification world we live in that sometimes " fine " is .... well, Fine! People want every meal or movie or anything to be the best until the next!! Lol My favorite by them is " Get a Gun "
I had to come back and listen to this rather than just dismiss it the first time around. It's not something I would have actively sought out on my own, but I do like the song. I think the voice works well with everything else and the harmonies are nice. The singer's timbre/style remind me a tiny bit of Art Garfunkel (whom I love) and even Elliot Smith. Are those strings or synths (or something else) during the chorus? Whatever they are, they are tasteful and add a lot emotionally. The bass sound is interesting for this kind of tune. Sounds like a pick guy or a hard plucker. I love the snare sound and the drummer's pocket. The groove swings in its own fashion. For some reason, it reminds me a lot of Shawn Pelton. My least favorite part is the solo section. But overall, this is my favorite thing that I've heard from the band, whom I had never heard before.
Also the first time i heard it I was coming down off acid. It was a time when all music was grunge so it was a needed break.... reminded me of 70s music like America. Try listening to it on acid and do a review again while you are tripping.
Yep, their sound and vibe is pretty consistent, so this wasn't going to be anything breaking through beyond the Boylan Heights tracks - but, I had no idea about this one being a smash in Europe... why this song? That's a head-scratcher... 🤔
Interesting it was released in 93, because it was a big hit in Europe in summer of 95. Wimpy yes, european girls loved this, lots of making out to this song as a teenager haha
Respect your opinion. And maybe this song doesn't work that much today with that style they had, though i love it 😀. Maybe have to live through 1994 and hear it then. Especially 90s music in opinion hasn't aged that well, it's not like the 70s or 80s music which is still great music today and considered real classics. But the 90s ???? Hmmmm🤔🤔🤔
Hey Man! I'm sure you're super intelligent and qualified to review music! However, this review sucks!
Seriously one of my favorite comments ever 😂
When this song in the mid 90s,it was like a breath of fresh air.

For some reason metal head me always really liked the chilled vibes of this song. It’s not a world changer but still like it to this day.
This song was huge (I'm in Ireland).

Really enjoyed your commentary on this. As far as personal taste goes, “I like what I like” sums it up and that can’t be disputed.
there is an AI Noel Gallagher cover of this song....not sure if that isn't better
amazing songg, so catchy, it has that melancholy about it but it still stays upbeat, discovered it through my dad's playlist😁
@@marktalbott3835 thank you for recommendation❤️
You should check the song again they did an updated 2015 video of these same people

This song has so many different aspects and vibe to it..... that amaze me
This song is genius, I'm sorry you can't see it

im good thanks lol
I bet you hate the Gin Blossoms too. Every old song has to be seen its its context. U will appreciate good music when you get old enough
Gin Blossoms are good, I actually sing one of their songs in a band currently.
lol , your funny sunny

I love a lot of 90s music and grew up in the 90s. Not saying I love all of it, but I'd say it'll be considered the new 'classic rock' in time..
Still kind of bland.
