Tutorial was easy to follow. Im a seasoned builder myself, however i couldnt quite come up with the right design to add to our HUB village. I liked this design so much that i straight up copied it and just turned it into a small Pub for the village. Thank you!

Love the build, easy to follow. The only problem I had was trying to do it without creative/god mode. I had to get creative to build it in order.

Thank you! Yeah building Viking roofs without creative mode is definitely tricky

I can't remember if you play on official settings or not. The direwolf pen and Ocean Platform are both official settings. The rustic house was back when I used unofficial settings.

After messing around with it for hours I finally got it to work. Sloped thatch walls and railings always destroy each other or are misaligned if the walls below do not match their snaps or if the sloped/railing pieces themselves are off or rotated. Can never tell whats wrong about it as the game doesn't tell you what it snaps to. I sometimes really hate Ark

    • @CHipZz
      @CHipZz  2 роки тому +1

I recorded the tutorial using official settings so it's definitely possible. Snap points can be tricky sometimes though. Can you give me a timestamp of what part you're struggling with?

    • @MelaireDT

At 2:21 it starts with the issues. I have two similar looking snap points for the pillar. I managed to hopefully figure that one out by looking at the texture of the pillar, but your's isn't aligned exactly with the other pillars, you pick the other snap point for some reason. I don't think it has much impact on my actual issues though.
At 2:28 I get the next issue with the wooden fence foundation, I have 3 snappoints for the fence foundation, 2 very similar ones that look basically identical to yours and a third one that would obviously not be the one you're using. Probably also fine and not my main issue.
Guess from here things start turning out badly
At 2:51 it seems like I have different snap points for my walls. Maybe this was why my later pieces in my last attempt were mismatched. It looks close to the same and I'm not sure where it exactly attached to (likely the fence foundations) but it does seem to have a slight gap. Depending on where you build, height wise of the ground, and how the fence foundations snap together the gap might be so small its barely noticeable from the wall snap itself.
Easy enough to get right though if I look carefully. My guess is the walls should snap to the foundations here, as that seems to be the only pieces that match seamlessly.
I see no alternate snap points for the catwalk and the interior parts in the next steps so these should be fine. Thatched Ceilings should also be fine, no alternate snap points that I could see anywhere.
At ~ 5:00 when you place the sloped thatched wall it starts to get tricky, there are two different snappoints that have a slightly different depth. On top of that each has their own rotated variant that would also line up perfectly with the other snap point. I can only guess which is the right one from the texture, but not being aware that there might be two nearly identical snaps is highly confusing. Then even worse with the railing piece you're talking about a green snap point. They are ALL green I got 4 snappoints here, three of which look totally similar to yours. The brighter green and the lighter/blueish green when facing from the other direction after rotating it. After testing it out again for several times it seems we need the sloped thatch part that is closer to the outside of the building rotated and the railing snap non rotated (the brighter green not the blueish green one) closer to the inside of the building (you mention wall snappoint, I guess thats the wall one while the sloped piece goes on the ceiling?)
After going through everything again one after the other it is working now. It would really help if you show all possible snappoints in your future videos for tricky replacing parts or pieces that have various possible snap points on top of each other to see the difference and know which one to take
Sorry for the trouble. Ark Devs should have really fixed this mess long ago and made it more intuitive and have their rotating and previews work properly without going through hoops.

Sorry for the delayed response I wanted to take some time to go through and try to figure out where you were having issues.. This video was posted almost a year ago at this point so I don't remember exactly how I built it or why.
2:21 - When you place that second pillar you will have multiple snap points because of the previous pillar and then the fence foundation. In the end any of those three points would technically work. That pillar is just being used to fill in the corner of our staircase on the inside.
2:28 - You're right this would not have been your issue. This is the same issue as before with why you are getting multiple snap points. But in the end it's not that big of a deal if you got one of the other snap points. It wouldn't hurt the build.
2:51 - You likely attached the wall to the fence foundation instead of the actual foundation itself. You can see when I go to place the first one that I bring it forward onto the actual foundation. In my more recent videos I make a point to say to place it on the actual foundation and after reading your comment I will start mentioning to watch out for the fence foundation.
5:00 - Honestly I'm not entirely sure what you had going on for this portion. Like I mentioned in the video you should first have a sloped thatch wall left which would be originally placing with the green side facing you (attaching to the wall below it) you then rotate the snap point until you find the light blue snap point which will be attaching to the actual ceiling. You then get out a stone railing and look for that green snap point that is attaching to the wall below it (aka the one the sloped thatch wall was originally on before we rotated it) Honestly I think a large portion of the confusion might have been because I only consider the brighter green side as green. The lighter side I have always considered light blue. So when I said green side it made perfect sense to me where as you were seeing them all as green.
Either way I am glad you were able to figure everything out in the end. I would like to think that over the last almost year I have improved on the way I explain things so hopefully you will not have any issues should you choose to use some of my more recent builds. It was no trouble at all, I appreciate the feedback as it only helps me improve my builds/videos!
