the Lakers take makes no sense, especially considering the Heat actually won a game against Denver while LA got swept. "Proving they can make a run" is nothing more than that: making a run. That's not contending. That's bias. There only 3 contenders, 4 MAX
With the group-think of everyone from the casuals to Vegas discounting Miami its really hard for me not to agree. They made history, respect. That said they're a shooting team that requires big games from 2 to 3 guys to win and finding the consistent 2nd and 3rd player is the issue.
As long as Jimmy and bam are on the roster they’re contenders in my eyes. Most finals apps and playoff wins since Butler got to Miami. A lot of people are saying Vincent and Strus leaving are the reason why they won’t be a contender but those who followed closely know they’re the reason they were in the play-in in the first place. They were awful in the reg season last year and Richardson is an upgrade over Strus because he can at least play some defense.
jimmy butler goes super human during the playoffs and is one of the best playoffs performers ever. however, in the off-season they just lost 2 essential pieces from their finals run last year. if miami wants to compete again, they’re going to have to get rid of lowry and pick up jrue or cam payne
They just lost two guys that got and kept them in the playoffs. There were multiple games where Gabe Vincent turned on the gas and went for a run that kept the team in the game. Same for Gabe. Losing those two guys is a big hit.
I feel like you can’t count miami out, bam and jimmy might not be the star power of other duos, but they both have games built for the postseason. Both are great at hitting mid range shots and for jimmy especially physicality and more contact in the post season doesn’t seem to impact him at all. They need to make some moves since even though they were the best team in the post season last year staying complacent when the Celtics got better and the bucks got way better when the Celtics took you to 7 games last season and beat you in 7 the year before and the bucks shored up their biggest weakness, they may have made up that gap, but we need to see how the moves actually impact the bucks and Celtics first.
Valid list 💯 and the heat take I agree with they are just too small and got worst over the summer. Butler just missed his chance to win a ring with Lillard going to the 1 team they absolutely did not want him to go to
They didn’t get worse. It’s funny a lot of people are acting like Strus and Vincent are huge losses but they’re the same people who slandered them in the playoffs. If you followed closely, you’d know those 2 played a big reason why they were a play-in team in the first place since they weren’t good in the reg season. Robinson was far better than Strus in the playoffs and Richardson is an upgrade simply because he plays defense. Herro back is big too.
@@frich3628Exactly. People are so excited year after year to write off the Heat saying there's no way they're good enough to actually compete and year after year we make it to June basketball anyway. You'd think by now people would just learn to accept the Heat make no sense.
Am I the only one who looks at this Miami team and think we're better than last year? Yes Gabe and Strus gone is a lost but dude Strus was getting outplayed by Duncan all playoffs long, Gabe had an amazing run but JRich is imo a bigger better replacement for him, then they just signed Hampton who I think could be a crazy good player for Miami, then they added where they lack where is size they drafted JJJ and then signed Thomas Bryant and brought back KLove, and people forget they made that run practically without their 3rd and 4th best player in Herro and Dipo, now Herro is back and Jovic has looked amazing in summer league as well as the FIBA world cup, as well as keeping their tradition bringing back Highsmith, Cain and Orlando as their undrafted guys who had great moments last year...I understand the skepticism due to the names they lost but imo look Miami got better overall
Nah. Miami had their time. Two finals appearances is a huge overachievement with this group of players. They're getting smoked by the Bucks or C's if they get in their way come the post season.
The warriors biggest roadblock last year was jordan poole and chemistry issues. This year is just a question of can the rest of the team get locked in. I will never doubt steph, klay and dray
I Hope the best for GSW but Chris Paul is gonna be 39 & he’s your apparent starting PG, on Top of Draymond being noticeably out of his prime & now being moved to the Center spot they are by no means making it easier on Steph…but if they got far I wouldn’t be completely surprised🤷🏾♂️
also their defense. that year they won the title, their defense was crazy. their rotations, variety. very smart communication. one of the most fun defenses to watch ever. also anthony davis made it impossible for the warriors to get to the basket in the playoffs.
Warriors fans are delusional, only way for them to win another championship is that half of the all star in the West are injured just like their run during the 2022.

Your fanbase taking pride in working hard instead of working smart is why they won’t win the championship. Waste of Jimmys career. You’ll make the playoffs again and serve as nothing but a stepping stone for the ACTUAL contenders.
1. Legit Contenders: Bucks, Nuggets, Celtics 2. Potential Contenders: Lakers, Cavs, Sixers, Suns, Warriors 3. Dark Horses: Pelicans with Zion (always injured), Grizzlies with Ja (25 game suspension) 4. The rest are playoff/play-in hopefuls who have no shot of making the conference finals 5. There's gonna be 3 to 6 teams that are tanking/have no chance of making the play-in
@@ImMeE19 I just like the talent on the Cavs roster Mitchell, Garland, Mobley, and Allen is basically 4 all-stars (or near all-stars), LeVert, Strus, Okoro, and Niang should be some solid wings. I know they got exposed by the Knicks, but young teams just need to get humbled before they start contending. For the Sixers, I'm going off the assumption Harden plays and if he's traded it's for fair value like Jrue. In March 2023, there was a case that Embiid and Harden was the best duo in the NBA (Embiid was making the case for MVP over Jokic and Harden was legitimately as good as Embiid in March and was a top 10 player at the time). After that Harden had some Achilles injury and Embiid wasn't healthy for the playoffs. I just think Embiid and Harden are one of the best duos in the NBA and Maxey is improving with Tobias being a quality starter as well.
I personally don't understand how anyone can believe in the Suns after this offseason. They traded Ayton, one of their more consistent players over the last 2-3 seasons, for a _fourth_ injury-prone starter and, due to Beal's NTC and no cap flexibility-the roster is already full of one-year veteran minimum deals which will have to be redone every season as long as the three stars are on the team-they're one unfortunate roll of the die away from imploding and being a lottery team with no picks for the rest of the decade.
@@hoppy23 trading Ayton for an injury-prone center and a couple extra role players does not make the team "way better". I refuse to believe it. Nurkic hasn't played more than 56 games since 2019, and even if you're betting on him being healthy, he is _not_ giving you the 18-10 stat-line Ayton could give you for 60+ games in the regular season, and he will get cooked by every good P&R duo in the west in the postseason, whether that's Curry and Dray, LeBron and AD, or Murray and Jokic.
Lol. Ayton is a ben simmons in the making. Your physically gifted human who is content with getting his paycheck and call it a day. You can see ayton always give up in the playoffs and use the regular season to build up stats to make himself look good. Simmons 2.0
It's as goofy as when people tell me this is the year Kyrie leads a team to a successful playoff run. Post Lebron he's been horrible but his fancy handle continues to mesmerise the gullible.
The only difference is we capitalized on a chip opportunity, I can’t say the same for butler , he can’t be number 1 option and expect to get over the hump BUTLER ISNT ENOUGH
WHy mention LAC at all? Better had spend some time on SAC. SAC has the pieces with Sasha Vezenkov, But it will need to fit together, so here in Sept maybe not. Also a nod to OKC from me.
Before watching, my guess is Lakers, Celtics, Bucks, Nuggets, Suns. After watching, some rising teams that could be fun to watch are the Thunder, Knicks, Cavs, Jazz, Kings, Mavs, Pacers, and Bulls.
I think y'all really overestimate what bruce brown did for the nuggets. I love bruce brown, he's a nugget forever, but we just SWEPT a healthy, rolling, "best defense in the playoffs" Lakers. Booker had 80 points in 2 games and Durant avg 30! They lost 4 games by double digits. The nuggets will still beat all these teams.
The lakers were not healthy, they faced 3 play-in teams and a team that had played less then half a season together. The chances of them playing against that level of difficulty is unlikely
@@masaibyfield668 who wasn't healthy? And it's very silly to call the Lakers and heat just play in teams. They beat everyone else. You're basically saying "prove it in the regular season" that's hilarious. Btw the nuggets were the first seed so they already proved it in the regular season
If the grizzlies could trade for Pascal or OG without trading Jackson, Smart or Bane I’d say that makes them contenders but I know they’d definitely have to trade one of them
Dom, I know the Knicks aren’t contenders but you have to acknowledge their existence. Last year you wrote them off in the series against the Cavs and you continue to not acknowledge them in any of your videos. It hurts dom. Make us Knicks fans feel good by having THE Dom2k talk about the New York Knicks. Love you Dom
My top 6 based on size, athleticism, shooting, scoring, defense, and versatility on both sides of the ball (in no order) Nuggets Lakers Bucks Celtics Clippers (IF KAWHI AND PG CAN STAY HEALTHY) Warriors (IF THEY CAN GET A BIG)
the lakers being contenders, but not the heat or Knicks is truly hilarious. Id even consider Memphis a contender though they were eliminated by the lakers...a contender
I think the warriors are a sixth man 3-and-D wing from contenders. The core has been there so long that their chemistry should be able to out-perform their already solid individual player stats. I think the western playoffs are gonna be so exciting next year, the nba is mostly just duos and role players going at it it’s shaping up to be a fun and unpredictable year :)
As a Warriors fan, I understand your take. I've spent years hating CP3 more than I love the Warriors. Also as a Warriors fan, I've come to believe Steph needs to be doubted to perform at his highest level. So, thank you for giving him something to prove.
I know how you feel. I never "hated" LBJ, but I definitely DISLIKED his playing style, his attitude (and his fans!!) more than I liked the Lakers… after rooting for them all through the Kobe years, I‘m actually rooting against them, now. P.S.: another reason I began to root for the Warriors. :)
14:08 the 2022 Warriors definitely had a chance versus that Nuggets team, GSW was literally the opposite of the Lakers' system (spread 5-out offense with screens everywhere and I would bet my money Curry/Klay/Wiggins would outperform Murray/MPJ/Gordon).
Nah Miami slander is crazy. Since acquiring Jimmy Butler we’ve been the best team in the East. 19-20:Finals 20-21: 1st round (short season/COVID/injuries) 21-22: ECF game 7 22-23: Finals with beat up team We always get shit talked and we’ve been having the most postseason success out of any team in the whole league tbh
There is something in the Miami water or something. Most random heat role players turn into kobe and jimmy just goes crazy. Same thing happens every year
A lot of false narratives have been placed on the Lakers I’m glad they back in contention the team is great from top to bottom but yet they get talked about like they aren’t going to wreck the west
@@CrazyxEnigmaexactly Lakers are the only team where dudes PRAY they get hurt cause if AD & Bron stay healthy for 75% of the season they’re a locked Top 4 Seed

And when tf are they gonna start giving kuminga minutes?
I can’t WAIT till the Heat make it again next season with Jimmy and some guys from the YMCA just to piss y’all off even more 😂
Don’t go ghost mode and make excuses when they lose we coming back to this comment in June
They never learn. They keep counting the Heat out every year, just for us to go deep in the playoffs.
@@ewoczito23If you actually remember this comment next summer, you don’t have enough responsibilities in real life
@@ClareAmel okay guy with raven as avi I’ll listen to you 😂
Your fanbase taking pride in working hard instead of working smart is why they won’t win the championship. Waste of Jimmys career. You’ll make the playoffs again and serve as nothing but a stepping stone for the ACTUAL contenders.
1. Legit Contenders: Bucks, Nuggets, Celtics
2. Potential Contenders: Lakers, Cavs, Sixers, Suns, Warriors
3. Dark Horses: Pelicans with Zion (always injured), Grizzlies with Ja (25 game suspension)
4. The rest are playoff/play-in hopefuls who have no shot of making the conference finals
5. There's gonna be 3 to 6 teams that are tanking/have no chance of making the play-in
Lakers, Suns & Warriors seem a step above Cleveland & Philly
I'd move Lakers to legit besides that agree with everything else
@ckq imagine being such a big hater and casual When the Suns are the favorite to win the Championship with the star power and depth
Celtics are in potential as well. Dark horse you have to include kings and Wolves
Celtics just got Jrue Holiday yep they gon be alright
I personally don't understand how anyone can believe in the Suns after this offseason. They traded Ayton, one of their more consistent players over the last 2-3 seasons, for a _fourth_ injury-prone starter and, due to Beal's NTC and no cap flexibility-the roster is already full of one-year veteran minimum deals which will have to be redone every season as long as the three stars are on the team-they're one unfortunate roll of the die away from imploding and being a lottery team with no picks for the rest of the decade.
The package they got for Ayeton makes there team way better present day
As a suns fan, Ayton was absolutely not consistent, unless you mean in terms of health. I still don’t like the trade though.
Lakers, Warriors, Heat, Spurs, Mavs
1 of these 5 teams _will_ represent the NBA Finals
As has been the case for all of the 21st Century.
2021?
you forgot nuggets
Suns vs bucks? Happened quite recently lol
as a heat fan... i am at peace with everything.
I respect the list fr. 100% agree
Ima come back to this comment and this video when the Warriors prove yall wrong again!!!!!!!!!
2024 nba champs baby
Always sleeping on the Heat. Another Butler's masterclass in the making.
Dude butler can’t win the Chip he been putting on master classes just to lose in the end my buck’s definitely sweeping them
@@kingEsoph like in 2020 ou 2023 right? You got your sweep in 2021 and that's it
@@kingEsoph1 injury of dame you gone lol
@@kingEsoph Thats what they said in 2020 and last season
The only difference is we capitalized on a chip opportunity, I can’t say the same for butler , he can’t be number 1 option and expect to get over the hump BUTLER ISNT ENOUGH
Then boom the Celtics get Jrue a holiday. Lmaoooooo
WHy mention LAC at all? Better had spend some time on SAC. SAC has the pieces with Sasha Vezenkov, But it will need to fit together, so here in Sept maybe not. Also a nod to OKC from me.
Steph with a headband is a rare sight
The heat has the best playoff record over the last 4 years but we always get doubted
This
Very good video I agree w everything basically!
Very good video. Thanks alot! Peace from Sweden
Glad to hear your ready to take the L when Miami make it back to the finals and the chip 🏆. Let's Go Heat 🔥🔥🔥
DOM TIME
Warriors fan here.... I'll be pissed if CP3 starts.
Before watching, my guess is Lakers, Celtics, Bucks, Nuggets, Suns.
After watching, some rising teams that could be fun to watch are the Thunder, Knicks, Cavs, Jazz, Kings, Mavs, Pacers, and Bulls.
Dom Classic ❤!
@@connorfagan3574 LeBron had a torn tendon in his foot and AD had bone spurs in his foot.
Curry and the GSW Are going to do it again ❤️💯
In my opinion
East
1. Bucks
2. Celtics
3. Heat
West
1. Suns
2. Nuggets
3. Lakers
Great video maaaann ..ran pan San Kan dan
Great video
If the grizzlies could trade for Pascal or OG without trading Jackson, Smart or Bane I’d say that makes them contenders but I know they’d definitely have to trade one of them
I agree with your list.
KINGSSSSSSSS!!👀
I swear if GSW starts CP3 I’m fucking losing it.
Its fun watching these no body thought Indiana was gonna do anything absolute sleeper team
Miami heat will continue to be contenders 😅 one thing the heat has taught me is that I don’t know anything about ball…
My top 6 based on size, athleticism, shooting, scoring, defense, and versatility on both sides of the ball (in no order)
Nuggets
Lakers
Bucks
Celtics
Clippers (IF KAWHI AND PG CAN STAY HEALTHY)
Warriors (IF THEY CAN GET A BIG)
If the clips pick up Jrue without giving up Mann or norm it’s game over
Portland would be stupid to give up Jrue for so little. Then again they gave them Powell for a bag of chips 🤷 who knows maybe.
my take aging like fine wine my boy
the lakers being contenders, but not the heat or Knicks is truly hilarious. Id even consider Memphis a contender though they were eliminated by the lakers...a contender
HARDEN HAS SHAT HIS PANTALOONS!!!
WOOOOOOOOOO OCTOBER
I hear the same thing every year about the heat but the heat always shows up. So that take on them is missed by me . 🤷🏾♂️
Jokic would make up for the difference in those 3 matchups. Warriors have nobody to stop him. Nuggets still win the conference.
It’s really like 6-8 different teams in the west alone that can find themselves in the finals.
My list (no particular order):
Bucks, Boston, Denver, Warriors, Lakers. Surprises: Sacramento, OKC
I love how you baited Warriors fans with your thumbnail
Nah Miami slander is crazy. Since acquiring Jimmy Butler we’ve been the best team in the East.
19-20:Finals
20-21: 1st round (short season/COVID/injuries)
21-22: ECF game 7
22-23: Finals with beat up team
We always get shit talked and we’ve been having the most postseason success out of any team in the whole league tbh
And if they loss 1st round or not make playoffs many will be saying " I told you so" and it take them 5 years to say that 😂
@@hitsunataraki2587 lol
There is something in the Miami water or something. Most random heat role players turn into kobe and jimmy just goes crazy. Same thing happens every year
I’d say Milwaukee has had the best postseason success seeing as they actually won the championship
Why is THT dunking in the intro? 😂
Herro and Bam takes a leap again… I think we’ll be aight sir 🫡
Good list personally I hope the bucks make it to the finals would be cool to see the freak reach it again and dame time out up numbers
You forget Grizzlies didn't have Adams and Clarke in the playoffs. They should be fine and then adding smart over brooks is an upgrade.
A lot of false narratives have been placed on the Lakers I’m glad they back in contention the team is great from top to bottom but yet they get talked about like they aren’t going to wreck the west
I hate that it's always about us I really do
Let them hold on to the delusion last season was a fluke. Then they'll cry it's unfair how we built this team after we get a top 3 seed.
@@CrazyxEnigmaexactly Lakers are the only team where dudes PRAY they get hurt cause if AD & Bron stay healthy for 75% of the season they’re a locked Top 4 Seed
Let me ask you a question;
What happened more often (since LBJ), before a sesson - that the Lakers got overhyped, and therefore underperformed, or that they got underrated?
;)
Why should they beat the Nuggets this season? LBJ is one year older, and AD was amazingly healthy, last season…
@@CrazyxEnigma Getting swept is not contending. The Heat MADE the Finals but arent being considered contenders. There's no logic there and they DIDN'T get swept by Denver
Before I even watch the full video, my top 5 contenders are, in order, bucks nuggets celtics lakers suns. Everyone else, meehhhhhh 🤷🏻♂️
Let’s be real, In the nba anything can happen, Miami made the finals and we can’t disrespect the dubs. This isn’t 2K we’re everything is just an on-paper matchup with Overalls. here are my contenders in order of most likely to least likely
West: Denver, LAL, PHOENIX, GSW, SAC,MEM,LAC
EAST: Bos,Mia,Mil,Nyk,Phi,cle
Maybe throw in Dallas or Atlanta if you want
Robinson was far better than Strus in the playoffs. Herro replaces Vincent. Those guys aren’t nearly as big of a loss as a lot of people make it seem. Strus and Vincent were a big reason they were a play-in team to begin with lmao.
Count out the Heat again. We're used to this every year.
Brought up the Mavs and Bro didn’t even mention the Kings.. 3 seed in the west last year and improving. Common casual take though. #beamteam
Keep underestimating the Heat, they’ll still keep beating the C’s down
3:24 holy shit finally a Celtics fan who actually knows KP is injury prone still I’d love to see kp healthy
dont sleep on the wolves and kings
Cant wait for boston miami ECF yet again lmao
GSW on 2k24 CPU crazyyy
My 5 contenders would be Lakers, Nuggets, Bucks, Suns, and Celtics. I dont think warriors, clippers, or the heat have a chance this year with there roster
Tier 1:
Lakers
Nuggets
Bucks
Suns
Celtics
Tier 2:
76ers
Warriors
Clippers
Heat
Cavs
Tier 3:
Knicks
Kings
Grizzlies
Pelicans
Wolves
Mavs
I Concur
I am very bullish on the Heat making a deep run.
I agree wit u 💯
Dude i am DONE doubting the Heat. We say the same thing every year. And every year they make everyone look stupid.
To me the only contenders are the nuggets, lakers, suns, bucks,Celtics, to me a contender is a team that I believe can actually win the championship not just get there
Teams like the heat,sixers,2021 Utah jazz always been dark horse teams were they can possibly make it but we all know they’re not gonna win simply because they not good enough similar to the Knicks in 1999 or early 2000s nets
Continue to disrespect the warriors
@@kohsmoger1567 yea it disrespectful that team that didn’t get better to be contender when they still have obvious weaknesses that they haven’t addressed while others have and plus the warriors only getting older
@@Wrestle_KingdomSo getting cp3 instead of inconsistent poole, Dario, trace Jackson Davis and Cory Jospeh isn't getting better?
@@kohsmoger1567 getting cp3 and Cory Joseph is not improving cp3 is not the player that warriors fans trying to make especially with Steph and cp3 in the backcourt are definitely getting hunted so defensively it terrible also you really trying to tell me that Cory Joseph is moving the needle for you
Also you putting way to much in Tracye yes he has potential but also he a rookie not everyone can be Christian braun
@@Wrestle_Kingdom Cp3 is coming off the bench idiot that’s where the warriors were hurt last year. Bench depth.
As a warrior fan it hurts me as f.....they couldn't be able to sign a star power forward or center for starting line up.... they add a lot guards....they will suck this season also....
I like the mavs off-season quite a bit I honestly think they are one solid big man away from a contender
My gut keeps telling me to not count out the heat
The clippers had a deep run in 2021 because kawhi got them far enough before getting hurt and PG had overcame an early season injury.
