Not so smart when you're close to waterways and sources and you build bellow the water line (yes, talking about you Florida mansion). Even when you don't build near waterways and water sources you still need sump pumps.
I always thought the same thing. I mean, how do you know if your in the house alone or not? Lets say your out late one night and then come home after dark and walk into your home or property. How do you know if someone else isn't hiding somewhere in your home? I mean, how do you even check to see if your there alone with a home so big? How about when you are just outside playing in the "yard"? What's to stop anyone from just walking up to you on your own property? Yeah, there might be some sort of security but, I don't know how much I would trust it to be fool proof. Look what happened to George Harrison whilst he was staying at his home called "Friar Park". One person broke into his very large home after they had all gone to bed. He was in that very large estate with just his wife and mother-in-law when this happened. This guy broke in, found George Harrison's bedroom and proceeded to attack and stab George with a knife while George was fighting back for his very life and his wife was screaming and hitting the invader with a lamp. The fight carried on into the hallway where the attacker was pushed down the steps. George's mother-in-law had now come out into the hallway to see what all the commotion was about and almost got herself killed in the process as the intruder got up off the floor and started charging up the stairs at all of them again. George leaped at the guy again to protect his wife and mother-in-law and this time his wife had secured a fireplace poker she was using to hit the attacker and that finally subdued him. The police were called and George was taken to the hospital with life threatening wounds. He almost died and the attacker probably would have killed the remaining survivors if he had been successful. It' just creepy to me to live in such large houses.
M Larger homes will go on to auction, and may even stay open for weeks/months, giving enough time for interested clients to contact the sales team and work out details. After the steep discount they received, it makes it seem like they either didn’t care to holdout for more (not enough interest in the property?), or they grossly overestimated the price. There could’ve been other issues with the property that this “tour” didn’t reveal, such as an older roof/AC/electrical. Considering there’s also like 6 floors, there’s a lot to take care of and the current/old owner may not have been in the position to keep up with it all, thus listing it & selling it at a discount still got them out from under the cost & responsibilities of a property that large.
M that don’t mean it was foreclosed it means you just want people to bid on it, let’s say you actually want $200,000 for a property and you have 50 people bidding for it then someone might bid higher then $200,000
Over the top houses are loaded with so much impracticality that's way too expensive to maintain. That is why these kind of houses changes hands very quickly. The worst part is it's a hard sell that it'll end up losing much of it's values every time it's sold to a new owner.
Actually the electricity in these homes are not that expensive. Even though some houses are say 11,000 sq. ft, they are only utilized for about a couple rooms at a time, like a normal home. It depends how many people live there
@@stefanodefilippis2535 I doubt that, because while the middle class turn off equipment in other rooms that are not in use, filthy rich people want to keep the lights on in the staircase and other unused rooms the whole time. The under ground construction pertaining to the South Florida home is truly astounding. Because in Florida, if you dig no more than 6 feet, you hit brackish water. 8 to 10 feet, water. So it would cost mega millions to dig out such a hole, and keep the walls from caving in.
You would think but it's actually not that expensive at all compared to the price of the houses, even if you have to go through solid limestone its's not that expensive. It just requires thick concrete walls to handle the pressure and very powerful sump pumps to keep your house from becoming a huge boat. Concrete is very cheap, the pumps and electricity would probably be the most expensive thing. Construction methods are pretty familiar with this kind of thing. They probably even have ways to anchor the basement into the ground so you only have to pump out the water that leaks through instead of pumping it out of all the surrounding soil. Basements are out of reach for most regular houses but they're not super expensive either. I believe you can even build one right on miami coast without too much trouble
