Dried Oranges
Preheat oven to 200F
1. Cut oranges into thin slices
2. Pat off excess moisture with paper towel
3. Place on lined baking tray
4. Dry in oven about 2-3 hours ( This really depends on how thin the slices are. The ones in the video took about 3 and a half hours because they were quite thick, but in the past they have only taken an hour and a half.)
Minced Meat mixture
Ingredients
2 large sweet apples, peeled, cored and diced
4 tablespoon of candied peel or the zest of 1 large orange
1 c raisins
½ c golden raisins
½ c dried apricots, chopped
1/3 c dark brown sugar
¼ c lemon juice
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp allspice
½ c brandy (bottom shelf is fine)
Instructions
1.In a medium saucepan, mix diced apples, candied peel or orange zest, and remaining ingredients except the brandy. Stir and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes.
2.Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the brandy.*
3.Place the mixture in an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator for at least 2 weeks before using, to let the flavors meld.
This will keep in the fridge 2-3 months
Minced Pies
Ingredients
350 g all-purpose flour 12.5 oz/ scant 3 cups
2 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
280 g unsalted butter 10 oz/ 2 ½ sticks
4-5 tablespoon cold water
Egg yolk and water for egg wash
Instructions
1.Add flour, sugar and salt to a medium bowl
2. Rub in butter with fingers until it resembles course breadcrumbs
3. Add water a bit at a time until it comes together (i ended up using 4 tablespoons)
4. Split in half and wrap in plastic wrap and set in fridge for 1 and a half hours
5.Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius/ 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the molds of two muffin trays.
6.Roll and cut dough: Remove half of the dough from the fridge and let the rest in the refrigerator until needed. Roll out the dough to about 3mm/ 0.10 inches thick. Cut 24 circles of the dough using a large cutter of about 6 cm/2.5 inches diameter. Press the circles into the molds of the muffin tray.
7.Fill: Place 1 teaspoon filling into each cup and spread evenly.
8.Closed pies: Roll the remaining dough and cut 24 smaller circles with a smaller cutter of about 5 cm/2 inches. Dab some water around the edges of the pastry in the tray and place the smaller circles on top of each tart. Crimp and seal the edges with a fork. Cut a slit or two on top of each pie to allow the steam to escape.
9. You can also cut out stars to place on top
10.Egg wash: Mix the egg yolk and the milk and brush the pastry with the mixture.
11.Bake the pies in the hot oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Leave to cool in the tray for about 5-10 minutes before transferring them onto a wire rack.

And you as well. Thank you for your videos; they are relaxing and a good reminder to keep it simple and enjoy what’s most important, the birth of our Savior.
Oh my mercy, Christina, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have found your channel!
My husband and I are also Christ followers and have chosen a very traditional, rural way of life in which to live and raise our little girl, much as you have. We have turned away from the busy-ness of the modern world, preferring a slower, simpler pace of life. We keep bees and grow huge gardens filled with fruits, veggies, herbs and cutting flowers. Wildflower fields also grace our acreage.
I am a full time homemaker and stay-at-home mama. My days are filled with running after our little one, cooking, baking, keeping up our home and gardens and preserving much of what we grow. It’s purposeful and fulfills the call of my heart. I dress in feminine yet practical long skirts or modest dresses year-round and often cover my hair. It’s refreshing and encouraging to see that although we are rarities in our society, that there are other women who embrace this beautifully traditional path. God bless you so much! 💗
We too have the same Christmas tradition of drying orange slices for ornaments and making pomander orange balls studded with whole cloves. I make homemade gifts of mason jars filled with stovetop simmering spices; dried cranberries and orange peels, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and star anise. 🍊
I enjoyed watching. It reminded me my Granny. She made all her cakes by hand, she never had the modern equipment in the kitchen, only an oven.
She was a home economics teacher for years, teaching young ladies how to run a house.
those pies are adorable !!!!
"And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne." - Revelation 12:5✨🎄Thank you for sharing those lovely traditional Christmas experiences with us.🤍✨ Such a peaceful, silent vlog. May you have a wonderful Christmas. Much love.🤍😊

Que tranquila quietud nos ofrecen tus videos, los adoro. Gracias. “ Esta noche nace el NIÑO en un humilde pesebre “, nuestro SALVADOR
I have never tasted a minced meat pie. I am certain I would love them💌. I noticed your dried orange peel is in small pieces. Do you have a tutorial showing how to make it? Peace and Joy. Something I read today that was a blessing….”You cannot experience the peace of God until you are at peace with God.” Merry Christmas 🎄

Missing you and your videos so much!! 😢
Love, love, love your videos! Have a blessed Christmas!
This video is beautiful. I’ve been looking for a mincemeat pie recipe! Thank you! I love your blouse and apron, did you use a pattern or is this something you purchased? I also like that you slice your oranges thicker, I’ve found when they are two thin they turn very brown. I just love everything about this video. Most important was the message of our Christ’s birth, God bless you and Merry Christmas! And again thank you, you have given me a gift of happy contentment 🌟❤️🎁🎄
Thank you! The dress and apron are both from littlewomenatelier on etsy :) youre right, Jesus is the most important thing in this season (and every other day of the year!) Im so happy you enjoyed it! 💕
Wonderful, well done 👏🏻 Enjoy your Christmas 💛
Yumm. Thank you for the recipe. Do you make your dresses? I love them and wish I could find modest and pretty dresses.

Do you make your own candied orange peel? If so, can you share your recipe?

Is there any substitute for the brandy?
