That would be Mr. Tommy Shaw you are referring to. Check out 'Fooling Yourself' from the same concert. Some great acoustic guitar and more solo stuff from the kids
This entire concert is awesome, but the singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw goes back 10 years later and does an "unplugged reunion" concert with the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra which is even better if that's even possible!!! Even if you don't react to it, I HIGHLY suggest you check it out, it will be well worth your viewing/listening pleasure guaranteed!!!
Tommy Shaw is an amazing singer. I accidentally saw him live once. I went to see Van Halen in Oakland in 1995 for a make up show from a prior cancellation. There was no listed opening act and it turned out to be most of Damn Yankees. Tommy Shaw almost stole the entire show from Sammy and Eddie
The most amazing song in this bombastic concert is Renegade. Tommy and James Young jam on their guitars, as expected, but the choir and the orchestra are the strongest ✨. You will absolutely love the way everyone showcases their voices during the Oh Mama a capella bridge in the middle of the song. Absolutely stunning!!!! Could one of the subscribers please advise me how to send submissions to this channel. I have plenty of ideas for them to review but don't know how to submit them. Thanks 👍❤
Yes, they put out a DVD for this concert. Later, they remixed it and put it out in Blu Ray with some high end audio options, improving the experience even more. :)
CYO is from Cleveland Ohio director is Elisa Grossman. Spinning keyboard has been with STYX since the 80s. Tommy Shaw was lead vocalist for Blue Collar Man. However. Lawrence Gowan (keyboards) also takes lead vocals as well as JY (guitar).
I own this DVD. A great performance, from both Styx and 'CYO&C'. Tommy Shaw has such a youthfulness to him in every aspect. Good genes I guess. He's my personal favorite lyricist...
if you are anywhere near Cleveland go to one of CYO's concerts they put them on all the time. ive watched Styx, Jefferson Starship, Yes and a few others and the kids are always amazing. the singer Tommy Shaw has also been in Shaw & Blades and Damn Yankees
Styx, a great band for sure. I was in my teens when they came on the scene, they have a lot of awesome songs. What you may not know is Dennis DeYoung also did a live concert in 2014.
I forget sometimes you younger people haven't seen things in music. I'm in my 60s like Tommy shaw singer and jy young guitar. Lawrence plays killer syn. He plays backwards, over his head, and on one styx song he'll lock it in place get on the stool and jump over it.! Hurts my knees just watching it!
Brings back memories. Saw them, with Dennis DeYoung, back in 1978 for their "Pieces of Eight" tour in Asbury Park, NJ and again in 1983 for their "Kilroy Was Here" tour in East Rutherford, NJ
@@demonhoopa I think Styx are great. I was simply saying I felt great to see them with Dennis. That was one of the things on my bucket list. I still love them. You assume too much or are very condescending..
@@dizzylizzybeth 1. I’m envious you got to see Styx 2. I don’t think it’s Styx without Dennis. If that makes me condescending, fine I’ll own it. 3. I said nothing nasty to you so I’m not sure where the jab came from.
@@demonhoopa hey sorry I took another way. I thought you were saying that Styx now opposed to what this is! So I thought you liked the new Styx better. I’m tired and just getting over Covid so I am really sorry.
Contemporary Youth Orchestra from CLEVELAND OHIO. Tommy Shaw, lead vocalist and guitarist, certainly one of the best lead guitarist/lead vocalist ever. This is at the Blossom Muci Center, in Cuyahoga Falls, OH 30 minutes south of Cleveland. .There are 21,000 people watching this- 5,000 in the seats, and 16,000 on the lawn.
You guys keep commenting on Tommy Shaw's voice, but don't forget, he is also the lead guitarist too, not just rhythm. You should check out the song Miss America live at the capitol center 1981. Damn I am getting old, I used to have The Grand Illusion on 8 track lol.
Great song Great reaction! yep the young members of the orchestra can say anything they want to about the Styx.. "Heck I was blasting with Styx on stage playing the saxophone!" lol👌👌
I think yall would rock out to the Damn Yankees (Tommy Shaw-vocals/guitar; Ted Nugent- Lead Guitar; Jack Blades (Night Ranger) bass - vocals) version of Renegade!!
This is Cool!!! Try Kiss Alive IV….with the Melbourne…Australia Symphony Orcestra! Three Seperate parts…Classic KISS…Next, blended partially….then BAM!!! Full Collaboration!!! All in KISS Make up!!!👍🤘🏻
I don’t know how I never saw this one, but I have watched the Tommy Shaw/CYO shows multiple times and it is awesome! Much better than this even. Check out “Sing for the Day” with just Tommy and the CYO, it focuses so much more on the orchestra itself.
Piccola Suzi (con stima affetto e rispetto , because you are strong and a real woman wife ect) have you 'Rosacea' like said in Italian , mostly around your neck and shoulders ? I have notice something before . Also my Sister have had . Maybe now at an inferior stage . It's common . Send you a Big Virtual Abbraccio ! Big respect . 2'40" ❤ Immediately before Sir Tra stops the Video there is a very groovy passage on the Ride Cymbal with sincopated accents . And then the drummer proceed . The changing tempo around 6'51"-6'52" 👌 BeastZ eh ! Thank you My Sir !! 8'48" ❣ Monster Show
If Dennis DeYoung never showed up, Styx would have ended as one of the best hard rock groups of all time. Tommy is a pure rocker and an excellent story teller...sadly known for Mr. Roboto for all of eternity. The orchestra slays, too!
Wolf Hunterz Peeps Help me Out!! The Drummer looks so Familiar, but I just can't figure out who he is!! arghhh! lol I swear did he play for Journey at one point?
I appreciate what Tommy Shaw and James Young are doing with the youth choir, but STYX pretty much blows without Dennis DeYoung. The keyboradist has to have a gimmick because he sucks. Has no stage presence and cannot carry a tune to save his life.
Tommy Shaw...Unreal talent. Doesn't get enough respect
He gets it from me.
That would be Mr. Tommy Shaw you are referring to. Check out 'Fooling Yourself' from the same concert. Some great acoustic guitar and more solo stuff from the kids

Totally Agree. You are able to hear the orchestra so much better and they sound great with Tommy and his acoustic guitar.
Yes, very much this!
Which is unreal.
This entire concert was outstanding. My favorite song from this concert was Crystal Ball. The sound quality is really great.
tommy shaw sings crystal ball perfectly every time.
Agree that the entire concert was totally awesome!!!!!
I have the DVD of the whole concert and it's wonderful, when the orchestra isn't playing they are headbanging
I've got this concert on dvd and it is an epic performance. I love STYX anyway. One of my favorite bands for sure. Those kids had such fun!
Me too. I own this with other Styx DVD's. They ARE my favorite band of all time...
Tommy's energy level on stage has always been phenomenal. Not to mention his guitar playing and vocals...
After all these years wow he can still sing.
Todd Sucherman, the drummer doesn't miss one beat. I honestly think he is one of the top 10 drummers in the world.
AGREE!
The dude is tremendous.

So dope. Tommy shaw with age has certainly not lost his voice. I've seen them at least 3 times over the years starting with the Grand Illusion album

Thanks, Kenneth for sponsoring this performance. My absolute favorite from this concert is "One With Everything" (which is not about hot dogs)
NOT a problem
oh you totally need to do "Fooling yourself". would prefer studio album version but they also did that one here.
There’s a quarantine version of that song via Zoom with the CYO and Tommy Shaw that is simply mindblowing
This performance never ceases to give me goosebumps.
just saw them in concert. Still kick ass!

Lawrence has always been a phenomenal performer. I saw him years ago here at home in Canada, doing his own songs. He was everywhere! 🇨🇦
I love this Blu-Ray Disc. Owned it for several years. Great concert.
I've watched this whole concert. Styx was great but hats off to the youth orchestra they were bringing it!
Wow. Wow and more wow!!! Styx are next level ❤️❤️❤️
I know this song by heart, first time seeing it with an orchestra.
Oughta be epic!
Not bad for a 68 year old man, huh? Like some said the unplugged one with just Tommy Shaw and the CYO truly is even better,

I saw them before Dennis left Thank God. I think it was 97-98. One of my fave concerts. I wish that I could have seen them back then.
Oh so you saw STYX as opposed to whatever this is

Tommy Shaw's voice could shred razor blades and still sing like a bird.
I saw Styx twice in Vancouver BC in the early 80's and they were fantastic.

yup i remember when they first started an extra great band
And....that was the opening song of the concert!
Tommy Shaw is amazing !
Try the entire concert. It's great. Tommy shaw is amazing.
You guys keep commenting on Tommy Shaw's voice, but don't forget, he is also the lead guitarist too, not just rhythm. You should check out the song Miss America live at the capitol center 1981. Damn I am getting old, I used to have The Grand Illusion on 8 track lol.
this is out of the world .... the concert with Don Felder .... alsoooooo....
Great reaction you guys! You folks would be fun to hang out with, high energy and enthusiasm.
This concert dvd is fire
Great song Great reaction! yep the young members of the orchestra can say anything they want to about the Styx.. "Heck I was blasting with Styx on stage playing the saxophone!" lol👌👌
Saw them in 81!!
Tommy shaw was also with the Damn Yankees with Jack Blades(Night Ranger) and Ted Nugent. Check them out also.
Home town kids. CLEVELAND ROCKS
Tommy Shaw how does he stay in that register madness lol
Tommy was SiXTY when this was recorded (singer-guitarist).
Awesome reaction thanks guys
His voice is glorious. Whatt’ya think Dennis ? Dennis ?
I think yall would rock out to the Damn Yankees (Tommy Shaw-vocals/guitar; Ted Nugent- Lead Guitar; Jack Blades (Night Ranger) bass - vocals) version of Renegade!!
First time knowing bout this... Anywayz... Thank You❤️❤️❤️❤️
To me Tommy Shaw made Styx such a cool Rock n Roll band. Check out his Damn Yankees stuff...
Don't fall asleep on the drummer either...his name is Todd Suchermann...and he's one of the most prolific drummers on the planet right now.
Love this band. Seen them once and they rocked. Check out Renagade.
Y'all should do a live reaction to Queen of Spades and Miss America by Styx. From The Grand Illusion and Pieces Of Eight live in Memphis concert.
Tommy Shaw was always my favorite Styx.
This is Cool!!! Try Kiss Alive IV….with the Melbourne…Australia Symphony Orcestra! Three Seperate parts…Classic KISS…Next, blended partially….then BAM!!! Full Collaboration!!! All in KISS Make up!!!👍🤘🏻
I don’t know if you did it. You should do Renegade with the CYO
You guys need to do Come Sail Away on the same show
There you have Mr Tommy Shaw!!
Oldie but goody ya'll Sweet Comfort Band "Envy and Jealousy" please!
Kick Ass!!!
I don’t know how I never saw this one, but I have watched the Tommy Shaw/CYO shows multiple times and it is awesome! Much better than this even. Check out “Sing for the Day” with just Tommy and the CYO, it focuses so much more on the orchestra itself.
Check out half penny two penny/ AD 1958 live in 1981

I think you`re refering to Dean Castronovo. It might be him, i`m not shure either :)
His name's Todd Sucherman
I don't care what this version of this band calls himself without dynasty young it is the Tommy Shaw band
his name is tommy shaw. the brain of styx.
These kids are high schoolers!!!!!
I've seen this before but it NEVER gets old! FANTASTIC! ♥️♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
Next one try crystal ball even better!
you know what i mean ...
Check out Aaron O’keefe schools cover. It’s all kids
Who knew Melissa McCarthy was an orchestra leader?😉
Please listen to Crystal Ball
not too bad for a guy who`s around 65 yrs old
obvously pre-covid - lol
Lol 2005.
Do you realize what you are experiencing here?
The spinning keyboard is so stupid. It is the only way for the keyboardist to draw attention to himself. Stupid! Not Cool!
I appreciate what Tommy Shaw and James Young are doing with the youth choir, but STYX pretty much blows without Dennis DeYoung. The keyboradist has to have a gimmick because he sucks. Has no stage presence and cannot carry a tune to save his life.
Sir Lawrence Gowan had a solo career in Canada before joining STYX. I find most people to be musically stupid because they can’t accept change.
Hope you guys are an act otherwise I pity your neighbors 😂😅😊
