- These stunning aerial photographs show cockle fishermen churning up mud in the Wash by gunning their boats' engines. Photographer Roger Tamblyn captured the controversial 'prop-washing' method during low tide between King's Lynn, Norfolk, and Boston in Lincolnshire, last week. The pictures show the rings made by fishermen in their boats in a bid to churn up the sea bed and bring the cockles to the surface. At full low tide, they go out to harvest the cockles by hand raking.
