She does not care about her constituents in the slightest. She works for natural gas companies. Farmers who are losing their crops, livestock and land because companies are allowed to lease their land for virtually nothing to extract resources, and their activities are highly destructive (they'll ruin any part of the land with resources, plow through crops with their heavy machinery, leave fences open so livestock can escape, etc). It would be very, VERY easy to take a tiny fraction of the natural gas companies' profits and compensate those farmers, but she's not doing that and has no plans to. Consider a mix of traditional assets like savings accounts, stocks, and bonds, along with dynamic options like cryptocurrencies. This strategy helps guard against inflation and economic uncertainty. Exactly! Which is why I appreciate giving a financial advisor the power of decision-making. Giving their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risks for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it's practically impossible for them to underperform. thank you for standing up for us! Alberta is tough place full of tough people and it's nice to see a politician who is able to exemplify one of our most prominent feature.
Not a fan of any particular political party over here but we keep hearing of people in Ontario who had to give up their homes because their utility bills exceeded the monthly cost of their mortgages. So she's got enormous support in Alberta IF she carries through on this strategy without compromise.
Also don't you guys have like 5, 7 and 10 year mortgages? Idk much about the topic but I found that interesting.....they keep raising the rates on renewal no? And with the West Coast in Canada (and the US too) being bought up by a lot of Chinese nationals it just seems like chaos lol
Any fuel source for energy production that is a commodity, like gas, coal, oil, will inherently make the electricity cost more because of the cost of that commodity. Be wary of anyone who is heavily backing hydrocarbon electricity production right now. OPEC/ oil cartel are making massive profits and they don't care about Canada or Australia (where I am from)
Where do you keep hearing about this, in a quick google search, i found that Albertans pay for electricity at rates higher than ontario. Both have variable rate charging depending on time of day and then throughout the year but ON had lower minimum and maximum pricing than AB. ON has a power grid that powers more people spread out over a larger land area for less money and all at the same time producing lower emissions... Same with BC and Quebec.
Sorry but that's literally not happened. There were minor hiccups with Ford's meddling but year-over-year Alberta has steadfastly had the most expensive utility rates. No one in Ontario has utility rates exceeding the value of their mortgage. That's asinine.
It's too expensive because Alberta privatized their grid. The solution is to return the power grid to being a public service. Alberta is the Texas of Canada when it comes to this issue. They pillaged public institutions to give their corporate benefactors profits from taxpayer-funded infrastructure. As is typical, the privatization led to parasitic corporate middlemen maximizing short-term profits by removing skilled workers and gouging customers. What did they think would happen? Of course nobody wants to build a nuclear power plant over there. The way Alberta's utilities operate, there would be a meltdown. Given how the CRC is allergic to taking responsibility, they'd blame the engineers. Better to just not risk your career and reputation in Alberta.
If Alberta is the Texas of Canada, does this mean they are going to have thousands of people moving there along with major corporations to benefit from the great economy compared to everywhere else in the country along with having multiple universities that are top 10 in the world in their retrospective field? When you create analogies to try and make something look bad, you probably should select a failure instead of a success. I am not even a Texan but trying to make out one of the most currently economically vibrant states out to be a failed one is just utter lunacy.
Is the Ontario grid also privatized? We keep hearing of people in Ontario who had to give up their homes because their utility bills exceeded the monthly cost of their mortgages.

This is pretty great, but I do have one observation: so she says that based on the regulations that prevent them from building nuclear, hydro, and other generation facilities, that she's going to go against the regulations preventing them from building a natgas generation plant. If you're gonna break a rule, why does it have to be THAT one, instead of one of the others (i.e. nuclear)?
Probably due to the fact that they already have the infrastructure and resources to build NatGas while Nuclear and hydro takes significant investment of both infrastructure and resources. Then again I ain't a Canuk so my idea might just be pure smoke.
Alberta = tar sands = oil and gas. But Canada's economy is totally reliant on Alberta and the wealth share is not equitable. Imagine if you stole all your neighbor's food then made fun of them for starving. That's Canada vs Alberta.
Because this isn’t about federal overreach at all. It’s about protecting companies that have invested in fossil fuels. Your observation is absolutely valid, if she wanted to help Alberta, then she would disobey the federal government and invest in energy sources that won’t be obsolete in 10-20 years and destroy the environment in the meantime.
"starving"?? Now, there, folks, is what's called a "drama queen". If anything, Albertans are better off, collectively, than the population of any other province.@@KevinJDildonik
It's not. Heavily centralized governments are far more efficient at guaranteeing the prosperity of their people. Privatizing everything in sight (as Klein did) only jacks up prices for the consumer, increases bureaucracy, and screws over working people.
Not so-a centralized government under a dictatorship of working people managing an economy that works for all instead a few would be a beautiful thing-capitalism is the problem-endless war and greed-killing people and the environment so that a few people own everything including electricity, water and the air we breathe is the problem.

If Alberta is confident that the Constitution protects provincial jurisdiction over electricity, then Alberta should bring a case to court. It does not need separate legislation; that's just grandstanding. We all breathe the same air. Climate change is turning Alberta into a desert. The Feds and the provinces should be collaborating hell-bent on reducing GHG emissions. Instead, for partisan reasons, Alberta's premier drags out this dog and pony show. Perhaps Trudeau hoped for a little give and take from Alberta after Canada bought the Trans Mountain Pipeline to move Alberta oil to the coast to ensure that it would actually be completed (for which the people of Canada will ultimately pay about $30 BILLION).

And there lies the problem...GROWTH ! That is the bane of economics. The ONLY GOAL SHOULD BE EQUALIBRIUM WITH NATURE.
Alberta first, Quebec next 💪💪💪
Albertans are very lucky to have such a strong leader to protect them and their rights.

Better to just not risk your career and reputation in Alberta.
south Africa said hi
because corrupt government control of electric grid is soooo much better
Silence WEF-mite
If Alberta is the Texas of Canada, does this mean they are going to have thousands of people moving there along with major corporations to benefit from the great economy compared to everywhere else in the country along with having multiple universities that are top 10 in the world in their retrospective field?
When you create analogies to try and make something look bad, you probably should select a failure instead of a success. I am not even a Texan but trying to make out one of the most currently economically vibrant states out to be a failed one is just utter lunacy.

You're asking for logical consistency - don't be silly; this is delusional Danielle we're talking about. She's got the brain-power of a laying-hen.

Good stuff. Heavily centralised government is a blight on every nation.

@@imonearthnow1903 🎯 I agree. Some states' economies are not as strong as others, so it would be difficult to do without federal funding. But if the States would show solidarity in defunding the federal government, we could bring D.C. to its knees. The hardship of losing federal support would be well worth it
Sarah Huckabee Sanders & her legislators are successfully taking back land a Chinese corporation owns, & evicting them from the state. There is no reason more states cant follow her example. We can no longer depend on the federal government to protect us either from the interests of super-billionaires, or from foreign powers. We must protect what has been ours all along
As a Canadian I am worried about the United states and the weak Joe Biden presidency. The world needs a strong US, just look at everything thats happened in the world in the last 4 years under Biden.
@@busterscruggs3031 I know, right… I sure wished that the pathological liar, criminal, sex offender, fascist Nazi was back in charge… Those were the good old days right?
@@busterscruggs3031 As an American I agree but we need to do better than Trump. We need a leader that will gain support and unite others. Not someone who's divisive. I believe Trump may win the next elections but I'm afraid that will only lead someone jut like Biden being elected again in 2028
P will try to do the same for all Canada if elected
