So happy to have it. I kept my Nokia 808 pureview 5 and half year with numerous of drops, the Corning gorilla glass stand perfect. So I'm not worried about the 5 th gen of the Sony ! Amazing phone btw, it was time to change after a dead 2012 os.
Where would the GPS be located in this thing? Trying to get to the bottom of the elusive gps issues with the device everyone has. In my testing hitting the lower half of the phone does the trick which leads me to believe its located in that metal part near the bottom.
Thanks for the clear video! Unfortunately, my XZ1 Compact took a nasty fall and the edges of the bottom (charging port side) became scratched/scuffed. Now the phone is a little painful to hold in the hand comfortably, as the scuffed metal touches the palm of my hand. Is there anything that can be done? Is it possible to just replace the bottom (charging port) surface of the phone?
So for changing the battery you have to dismantle the entire phone - jesus christ...i miss the old times where you just had to remove the back cover, lift the battery, remove and replace it, put the backcover back and be happy.

Hi, my z3 compact screen is lifting again after it was in one LCD fix-service (they using glue i think like the factory). I changed my phone to z5 compact (used), but i see this model's screen starting lifting too (for now, just a little bit, but sometimes the proximity sensor not working). I decided to change again, so my question is, is the xz1 compact model using the same solution to lock the screen to body? After 2-3 years these errors can be expected again?
Sony xperia xz1 compact is waterproof, so it used a good viscosity adhesive. If you replace the xz1 compact LCD screen, just follow its installation and it will be fine.
No waterproof, back falls off, no metal unibody, decreased strength. Batteries are easy enough to replace on most phones anyway (not this one, but it's for the sake of compactness)
While yes the idea is nice But would u rather have a phone that doesn't drown or a phone that of wich u can replace battery I'd choose the one that doesn't drown
Well, that is the issue now. If one likes a high-end device with a user replacable battery, ther is not much choice. I settled with the XZ1 compact which is a wonderful small device with nice specs, but if I had the choice I would love a remake of the Xperia Ray with modern specs. (Tiny smartphone, high-end specs, headphone jack, good camera, user replacable battery)
My xz1 compact microphone has an issue. It doesn't work when I use the phone app the call people but it works for video recording. Do you know how to fix this issue
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact microphone is connect on the motherboard. it's can not replaced individually. if your xz1 compact was still under warranty, you should better send it to the service center for help.
Wit Rigs I think it will be expensive to do this I asked them and they said it's not covered under warranty because it's the Chinese model. I'm going to have to use insurance to repair it
The XZ1 Compact has 2 different Microphones. The one on the lower End ist used for telephoning and may be broken. The upper end microphone is used for videos and loudspeaker calls. Hope it helps :)

File the scuffed part with a Dremel

They really made it difficult to remove the battery :( So u can't remove the back side of the phone?
Well, there isn't really a back panel. It kinda wraps around the internals on left and right sides.

z1c and z3c are waterproof too, but after 2-3 years the glue is losing, screens ara lifting. I hope xz1c is not the same build quality.

I never use mine in the rain or underwater. So I prefer an user replacable battery.
