I like this version more than the 2011 one with Mia and Michael. These two ACTUALLY talk openly and are really close, sitting next to each other and talking all the time. Great casting!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Simply the best Mr Rochester casting ever.
Just no
@@laurasenz Each adaptation brought their own unique rendition to the story and characters.
Definitely the best adaptation of Jane Eyre. The atmosphere in particular is impeccable.
I love the way he looks at her after she's agreed that he did the right thing...he so desperately wants her approval.
I love this version, even if it deviates from the book (and I adore the book) because these two have the best chemistry!
haha!! I just love Toby Stephens as Mr. Rochester!! He blows me away!
The best Jane Eyre series EVER. Thank you~
I love how he responds to Jane when she asks if he still loves Celine. "Good God! No!" I had to laugh at his expression! He is such a great actor!
He's very underrated! Never quite understood why. I think he's as good as his mother
@@Eunice.Aceto75 YES.
Yess specially when he said : 'who? ' its like he completely forgot the subject he was talking about ...same as in the book he kept pondering every now and then in this scene ...
And the "WHO?!" 🤣🤣🤣
It's the dramatic sad music that continuous after Jane asks "do you still love her sir?" and of course their brilliant acting that makes Rochester's reaction so funny, genius.
I love their chemistry.
His voice is so melodic. :) love Toby Stephens SOOOOOOO much.
One of my favourite productions and how Ruth and Toby played their parts.
My favorite version of Jane Eyre. Perfection.
I LOVE 0:40 to 1:07 hehe "do you still love her sir?"-"who?""celine"-what? good god no!!!!" haaahaaaa
It's funny how people's perceptions of beauty change throughout the years...
It was the right thing to do... wasn't it Jane?
He plays it cool, but is desperate for her approval.
I'm in love!!! (all over again! - now where's my copy of Jane Eyre?)
they actually do have this convo, very early on in the book. its very close to the dialogue in the book. i read the book, and a week after i finished it this came on bbc. couldn't get enough. excellent adapation.
You think he looks younger than his mid-30's? No way, he's PERFECT!
God, Mr. Rochester can really make your heart fly with his grating voice and good looks :D, however, i can't understand one thing. In the book, Mr. Rochester was not considered handsome, in fact he was described as quite ugly, but maybe that's because the victorian notion of beauty was different :S, what do you guys think?

Well, even as I was reading the book, and I believe I kept the original picture of him in my mind throughout the book as was explained through Jane, he started to grow on me. I don't know, does that make sense to you?
There is supposed to be a huge age difference between them. in the book, thats one of the problems for them getting married...well besides the mad woman in his attic.
lollipopfop I think for the time, a rich man is often overlooked marrying a young woman for a fertile prospect of heirs because love or happiness isn’t that important when money is involved
Rich men got to marry women 20 years younger then them back then, just as they do now. But there's a very funny scene in the book when Jane tells Mrs Fairfax she's going to marry 'the master' and Mrs F is so incredulous and appalled that Jane gets quite upset with her.
Thanks for uploading all of these
At 2:22 Toby is as handsome as he'll ever be
👍 Fine Production + Gr8 Acting By Toby Stephens + Ruth Wilson... 🦋
@Meny20 That part makes me laugh all the time that I see it. I'm laughing right now. Just love his response PRICELESS.
haha I always like older actors too! The younger ones just don't do it for me...men usually seem to get better with age...lucky! Older guys are more talented from experience and come across as more mature and gentlemen-like, which is always appealing!! Not to mention more complex than all the boys :)
@Britin101 Meyer didn't compare Twilight to Jane Eyre, just mention that it's her favorite book and that she named Twilight Edward after Jane Eyre Edward.
That's why its in a book!...but hey..how do you know??...they were people just like us now...they had the same urges too...so i would believe that they could have an intimate conversation..especially if he's the master of the house!..He would do whatever he pleases!
Ahh, yeah. That look makes me laugh every time.
Did you know that Stephenie Meyer named her Edward after Mr. Rochester? Jane Eyre is one of her favorite books, too, and she said that some of Twilight was kinda based off of it.
@Britin101 I'm not sure where I heard it, but I remember being extremely angry that she thought they might compare.
The fantasy really comes true, Toby Stephens, is a great actor, but his crying in the last scenes was real, from someone who was really involved, very sorry and sad that they would end.
Too bad they didn't assume that truth.
@Britin101 Did she not name the character Edward after Edward Rochester?
The best Mr Rochester there is! Timothy Dalton was nice, but Cor Toby Stephens knows how to play him! :D
lemmonade99,
I agree! In the book, Jane is very clever and is not afraid of showing it once she has got used to Mr. Rochester. Ruth Wilson is a fine actress. It is a pity that she did not get the opportunity to show it more. It would have been interesting to watch her work with scripts like the ones used for the BBC adaptations of Jane Eyre from 1973 or 1983.
...this isn't her 'first encounter' with Rochester....
lollll too funny
Yes sir!
hi!!! I dont believe that they could have this moment of intimacy at the time.
They are very close.
Oh don't worry i know what you meant..but wouldn't be awesome if it was a full length movie????
Any one here came from black sails👀
What year is this movie from.
2006
Good scene but not really her first encounter with him.
LMAO! XDDDDD I got that impression too! My friends and I joked around that in the 1983 version all the stuff he was saying amounted to, "Damn you Jane, you've given me a boner."
Alguien quelo tenga en español???
I know me too!!!!
LOL! Look at me carefully, Jane, watch me while I'm telling you about sex and all my lovers...LOL!
@Britin101 Yeah, but she should have - she stole his name AND Jane's pain - shame on her!!!
=.= They are nothing a like. Only Rochester's passionate affection and need to constantly be with Jane would match Edwards; however, their personalities are absolutely nothing alike. Rochester is the very definition of what a man is like, Edward reminds me of a pubescent whiney boy DX
И всё таки Тимоти Далтон лучший мистер Рочестер!
They must've had impressive tweezers back then
i read in the book that mr rochers was very ugly.. and that he had dark skin... i read so many lies .. lol
Diani Guayakita
I got the impression that she was saying that many people might think him an ugly man. Doesn't mean she thought that personally.
This actor is far too handsome to be this character. Although he is excellent.
True. Dalton and Fassbender were too good-looking for the role too. But they're all fine actors.
