AHH Shucks, I was hoping to see Herman pulling 6-18s with an on-land hitch. Great video. Around here if a farmer saw a plow, most would think it was a horse-pulled antique.
One year, after a wet fall, I was sent out with the Ferguson 35 and its lightly-used two bottom plow to break up all the tracks we made during harvest. I think that little tractor was happy to get to do real work for a change, and I know we got the carbon burned off. Jobs like that taught me a lot, and got me ready for the 1900 with five big shares behind it. I miss those days.
Beautiful tractor. Dad and I would plow together with him on a 1650 gas narrow front pulling an Oliver 4-14” and I was on an 1855 gas pulling an Oliver 4-16”, both were pull plows, back in the early 80’s.
Wow. What a sharp looking tractor. Love the proportions on that era Oliver. FWA with bigger fronts make it have a stance that means business! Great job restoring her!
And another thing, when you tell history/specs and stories about your machines is absolut superb content for your channel! I could sit for hours listening to that
I've got an Oliver friend that is going to start making youtube videos of his stuff. He has lots of vintage equipment that he uses his tractors on and is very knowledgeable. I'll be giving him a shoutout once he gets things up and running.

This model in FWA was relatively popular in Quebec, if memory serves somewhere around 40 of them went there, with around 80 staying in the USA. I know of several that have found their way stateside since then, including this one.

Looks pretty sharp. I was at the tire shop a while back and they showed me some import tires branded Ceat that had a similar tread to the BF goodrich at half the price. 18.4-42 was less than a grand.
Sharp looking tractor. We got a 1655 to. Looks the same except ours has a cab on it. Grandpa used it for planting, spraying and plowing snow. We got a 3 bottom plow for it too. Not sure on the number of it tho
NICE!! I have been looking for a 3bottom mounted plow now for awhile, for what ever reason finding them in decent shape and reasonably priced around me is like finding hens teeth.
The Oliver/White made plows are real nice. I always thought that John Deere plows were the best until we bought a Case 700 6 bottom on land this spring, which is really a White made plow.
A 1950-T would be a sweet tractor to have. I'm kind of surprised I hit 3k this week. My views have been way down this week, but I'm still getting subs. I now see where youtube has been having issues with view counts this week. It can be a fickle mistress.
Nice looking tractor! What type of paint did you use when you painted it? Thanks for the tips on adjusting the plow. Do you have a stop on your 3pt lever so you know how deep the plow goes in the ground?
I used PPG epoxy primer with PPG acrylic enamel with hardener. I don't have a stop for the lever. There wasn't one on the tractor, and I figured it was something that was going to scratch paint off from getting moved around, so I didn't add one.
Yes, a 1655 can handle 3 bottoms in about any soil type. I've pulled 4 with this one, but my ground is sandy and pulls easier than most. I was getting this one shined up to take to a plow day. I need the room on the trailer, and fully mounted makes loading and uploading easy.
If it has red fluid, I use ATF, used to be dexron 3. From what I have read, dexron 6 is a synthetic replacement for dexron 3, and earlier type A automatic transmission fluids like Oliver used. Agco calls it 821xl, hy-tran and hy-gard should be equivalent. They switched to universal about the same time they switched to silver paint. The internals are the same, so if you want to switch fluids, it's not going to hurt anything. Just drain it well to get out as much of the old as possible.
That Oliver Guy - Chris Losey thanks, I don’t know what was in it as it was drained when I got it. I put in Duratran hyd. oil and it’s working fine,so far. Don’t want to go through the process of finding another one again. They’re not easy to find up here.
