- RELEASED IN 1973 ON THE "HOUSES OF THE HOLY" ALBUM AND WRITTEN BY JIMMY PAGE AND ROBERT PLANT. IT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS ONE OF THE MOST SENTIMENTAL TRACKS IN ZEPPELIN'S CATALOG. PAGE AND PLANT WROTE THE SONG IN RESPONCE TO GEORGE HARRISON COMPLAINING TO JOHN BONHAM THAT ZEPPELIN WAS UNABLE TO WRITE BALLADS. RECORD PRODUCER RICK RUBIN HAS SAID OF THE RAIN SONG: "I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT KIND OF MUSIC THIS IS. IT DEFIES CLASSIFICATION. IT'S SAD, MOODY AND STRONG, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I COULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG ALL DAY. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD DAY."

Kept expecting the Zeppelin song, lol, but then forgot about that and got lost in the sauce as I vibed to shades of Tenacious D, the Dead, bit of Zappa, and even some rap in there. All the apacolyptic and war images were fitting for, alas, the Mideast about to go up in flames right now...Dancing Skeletons, indeed....Cheers, man!
