The problem with the Harambe story is that, they are keeping the animal in a closure in the first place which is just cruel in itself. Then the parents don't keep an eye on their own child and he falls down into it and they decide to shoot the innocent animal that shouldn't even be there? He should be out in the wild not rotting in a closure.

The easiest difference to spot between the two is that sea lions have visible ears while seals don't.
More broadly, they lead very different lifestyles. Seals are quite a bit more dependent on the water and are thus better swimmers (therefore they're bodies are visibly more torpedo-like than sea lions), while sea lions are a bit more mobile on land and tend to be much more social (and as a result louder).
Because of sea lions mobility on land, another easy way to tell the difference is that a sea lion will use it's tail and flippers to prop itself up and "walk" while a seal will just kinda shimmy along on its belly (they're very clunky out of the water).
Edit: I've just learned seals don't have external ears at all and what you would see if you got close enough to look are essentially holes. I actually thought they were just tiny. The more you know.

That was sad what happened to Harambe the gorilla. He had already started running and dragging the little boy by one leg, and the zookeepers knew his mannerisms, and they were scared the little boy was going to scream and set Harambe off. And Harambe and other SilverBacks are SOOOO strong that they can rip a child in half as easy as we can rip a drumstick off a baked chicken. It was sad because what caused Harambe to start freaking out and dragging the little boy was all the people screaming. I place blame on the boy's parents mostly, because it was them that wasn't watching their child as he climbed over the rock wall that people look over to see the gorillas.

    • @aj897

The sea lions are much bigger and smarter than seals. They call seals the dogs of the sea but sea lions would be the bear of the sea. But while sea lions aren't necessarily as aggressive towards humans as bears, they are however much more territorial. And by territorial, I mean, they take human spaces (piers, boardwalks, beaches, etc) and they will fight any human attempt at taking it back. They have also learned to wait for humans to catch fish and then eat the fish. The video you guys watched of the fishing net being brought on to the deck of that boat where the seal popped out of the net was actually a sea lion. And you could see the calculations happening in the sea lion's head of whether to tolerate the water hoses in exchange for fish or to leave. And it seemed like he was leaning towards staying. Cause they're stubborn as hell and they think of humans as a nuisance more than anything else.

    • @StfuFFS
      @StfuFFS 2 роки тому +1

The majority of the differences between seals and sea lions boil down to when the two species returned to the sea. Seals returned to the sea longer ago than sea lions and the evolutionary adaptations they exhibit are more evolved than the relatively recent sea dweller in the sea lion. Seals don't have external ears while sea lions still have a nubby little ear. Seals don't talk much while sea lions scream all day and all night... if there's a sea lion colony around, EVERYONE KNOWS IT. They are loud and obnoxious. The skin of a seal is mostly smooth with only fuzz all over while a sea lion is still pretty hairy. And the legs of a sea lion look like a land dweller who relatively recently started evolving flippers while seals have true flippers and don't spend nearly as much time on land as their sea lion cousins.
And both of them were originally a species of small bear when they were on land.

Carbon Monoxide build up is scary. It's honestly crazy that the cat could detect it.
Way back years ago when we were getting the whole grants for insulation and stuff, our house is old and has a lot of old systems. When they came to inspect prior to everything, we were told that we were all lucky to be alive.
Basically, our old ass back boiler was pumping out carbon monoxide which did affect us (headaches, very irritable when I stayed downstairs for too long etc), and the only reason none of us ended up dead was the fact that we have no doors downstairs. Well, we used to but they weren't proper doors so we got rid of them completely. Had we had doors they're sure we all would have died within a few hours.

Like the one in Texas that protected his teenage owner from two home invaders and was shot multiple times and survived. To me, the easiest way to tell the difference is a sea lion has much larger flippers, and they stand up on them and walk using them as legs, and seals have much smaller flippers, and they pretty much just scoot themselves across the ground on their bellies. Plus sea lions are brown and they "bark" really loud, where seals do not bark, and they are multi-color, gray, white, brown, and black.

There was also the risk that the bullet could have only wounded and enrage the gorilla, and or the animal may have collapsed atop the child. I wasn't there, so it's hard to judge. An awful result, and hopefully the zoo fixed their obvious security issues. I remember a case many years ago at the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn NY. An 11-year-old boy managed to break into the zoo after closing. He got into the Polar bear enclosure. The child was mauled to death and partially consumed. I'm not sure which order. N.Y. PD. came and put the 2 bears down with their service .38's, and 12 gauge shotguns. It was a torturous way to die for the animal. I don't recall how long their barrage of underpowered weapons went on, but a high-powered rifle would have been far more humane. A tragedy for all parties involved. Don't fuck with polar bears.

You can't fix stupid and, unfortunately, the animals are destroyed. It's interesting that instead of people asking why these parents weren't looking out for their kids instead they get skeptical and assume that a chimpanzee is gonna kill a child yeah she'd be well aware about the fat that a parent had an infant child that they didn't even know was not next to them how do you have your child with you and not pay attention to where your child is don't go to a place like a zoo or an aquarium and then you'd have your child go missing like that's not responsible if anything when a child got checked out they should have been taken away from their parents for child endangerment.

I believe all of these stories except the house cat. LOL. Those jerks wouldn’t do anything like that. More than likely the cat planned it and was talking shit - “you’re gonna die!” - while they slept.

Wow, if you're being serious that's very ignorant and there's been multiple cats who have saved their owners and numerous cats that have never done anything wrong. May I educate you on the thousands of dogs who snapped? And can actually KILL PEOPLE?? I like dogs more then cats, but you are simply ignorant beyond belief. You say that until you have a child and you stüpidly trust your dog alone with it and it tears them to pieces, and then you end up hating your "good innocent boy". Aww, a cat will scratch you? Poor guy, you totally have it worse then those who get their faces ripped off by dogs!

A quick difference between Sea lions and Seals is that Sea lions have ears, Seals don't. 🙂

@Kev Przy depends entirely on the seal. Leopard seals are massive and i don't know the numbers of the top but i wouldnt be surprised if they're bigger than sea lions. But on the whole sea lions are usually larger than seals. I would venture to guess that this has much to do with seals usually being faster and more agile swimmers.
Edit: also elephant seals are enormous and i can't believe they slipped my mind

It's called the grind. It's takes place on the Faroe islands. I believe they herd pilot whales to shore and commence killing them.

The thing with places like sea world is that most if not all animals in there are injured and are rehabilitating. I do agree that we shouldnt put animals on display just because we want it. Unless its for rehab or pop control.

That mom that was so horrible at watching her kids her kid fell in... she had 6 she differently could not take care of right so I say don't kill the gorilla over a bad parent. I am sure the kid will grow up to be one more voter we don't need in this country. I got 3 kids go to the zoo all the time and never lose them in with the animals called be a decent parent and not having 6 kids by 6 different dads
