Well, the argument is that the freeplay avoids accidental engine revs when the bike goes over bumps etc. In other words, it's a safety "buffer".

@@3ftDeepChannel I just buy an R6 2020, and the prev owner just removed the freeplay for instant throttle. I almost crashed 3 times becasue of no free play. One over some bumps, and 2 times while almost was stopped, after braking!
