After a week or so it was back to normal so I wanted to clean it up because it had some black spots on it and I didn’t like them but thanks for the comment
the gold color is heat tempering. essentially a super thin layer of corrosion caused by the level of heat and exposure to air. It'll always come back once the raw steel is exposed to sufficient heat and air again.
Yes it does but that’s the way this exhaust is build. I don’t mind that. There where some black marks that I wanted to remove. And this method works if something melts on the exhaust as well.
It's not like new at all. You've just polished it back to bare metal and removed the brushed finish. Please do not do this to your exhaust unless you specifically want a mirror finish.
I believe it. Had a can in my basement fridge for a few months and it ate a hole through the bottom of the can. I don't drink it, someone had brought some over for a party.
I cleaned the pipes of my Triumph Street Twin with "OptiGlanz Edelstahl-Reiniger" (OptiGlanz Stainless Steel Exhaust and Pipe Cleaner) in less than 5min. "Produkt zur Reinigung von Edelstahlfelgen, Auspuffen oder anderen Artikeln aus Edelstahl. Einfach aufsprühen, 1 - 3 Minuten warten und mit klarem Wasser abspülen." Google translate: Product for cleaning stainless steel rims, exhaust pipes or other stainless steel items. Simply spray on, wait 1 - 3 minutes and rinse off with clear water. And yes, it worked perfectly. My pipes looked like new without brown or blue discolorations. No hours of fiddling with pastes and emery cloth. You only have to avoid skin contact because its an acid. And don't breathe the fumes. It smells like almonds. A sign of very unhealthy cyanide.
All in all it’s an easy process worth doing once every year maybe.
Red scotch bite pad has it like new in half the time 👍🏻
Thanks for the tip. Will keep it in mind next time.
I tried the Harpic 10x method with Autosol or Selpar polish and they came out looking perfect on my Speed Twin. Will try this next time.
If your technique was perfect then maybe don’t change it.
It was the gold/brass/bronze look that I liked straight away. Don't know why anyone would want to remove it.

Very thin sandpaper was the caption.
Did you mean very fine?
What grit is what I believe to be the missing component.
Either way, they came clean
Yes I do mean very fine sand paper. Sorry for my English didn’t know the term.
Donot use sand paper use only autosol it is very easy to use and it will make a better job.
I haven’t tried that. Next year maybe. I plan on doing this once a year or even more. Thanks for the tip
Totally agree Autosol Bluing Remover works with much less effort.
We never had that problem when manufacturers weren’t so bloody tight and chromed the exhaust down pipes.
I guess they were going for the brushed finish. I don’t mind to be honest but there were some black spots I wanted to remove that’s why I did it.
I have a rs sprint, fine steel wool and WD works good
Thanks for the tip
That looks really good. Mine are really discoloured and the bike is brand new. How long did it last before they discoloured again?
It very long. I would say something like 5-6 months maybe?
So the golden color went back after some time? I’d hate to loose that color. Thanks!!
Yes it did. About a month after I think

I’d go old school wrap personally 😊
Looks nice indeed but not sure
Does the brown and blue colouring come back after a long while so you have to clean it again?
Yes it does but that’s the way this exhaust is build. I don’t mind that. There where some black marks that I wanted to remove. And this method works if something melts on the exhaust as well.
what kind of wd40? woow so nice like new!
Just regular wd40 for the first part. Thanks.
@@TripleSound detergent or lubrificant?
Detergent not lubricant
Sandpaper? I'll use wet & dry, very fine grade, 3000 or more
I think I had up to 2000. Can’t remember now but yes needs fine grade
Veramente un bel risultato ..
Grazie

Probably you’re right. But the exhaust became again in a few rides as it was.
Harpic bleach black bottles apply, rub wash off 👍
I’ve since learned that trick. Thanks 🙏
But do make sure you wash it off or rust will appear😮
磨く前の焼けたパイプの方が好きです。
私も好きです。しかし、彼女には黒い跡があり、私は彼女をきれいにしたかった. 2~3回乗ったら元に戻りました。
I hope Google helped translate the text properly. Greetings from Greece.
wire wool maybe?
Yes could work but it will not make it as shiny.
It helps if you’re tweaking. 🙀😹
I hope it does. 👍
The best exhaust cleaner is actually coca cola believe it or not! Try it, you’ll be amazed 👍
Just that? Nothing more? A cloth and coke?
@@TripleSound Coke and household green scrubby 😉

Thanks for the tip. Don’t know if this available in my country but will look into it. Thanks 🙏 again
Pano e massa de polir é o suficiente...não aconselho usar lixa🧐
Maybe. Thanks for the comment
