I really enjoyed this podcast, and it gives me hope. When Pastor Gail's daughter Tonya talked about her fear of not having her mom in her life and having to depend on herself to see things through, that resonated with me. My mom, who adopted me, is alive, and for all of my adult life, she has been absent emotionally and eventually broke all contact, severing our relationship. I always felt from a young age that there was something about my mom that wasn't right. As I grew up and became an adult, I truly began to understand that my mom was not healed and suffered from her own mother wounds caused by her mother. I also realized that I was also not healed because of the mother wounds my mother cause and that cycle repeated with my son up until I made the decision to heal myself. I told my mom that I forgave her because I realized she was hurting and projected that hurt on to me because there was no outlet for her. I always knew my mom loved me, but she just couldn't give me what I needed emotionally to nurture me growing up and even now because she doesn't have it in her to give. I told my mom that while she is living, I forgive her so that she knows that I do and pray that she gives herself grace, forgives herself, and comes around to rekindle our mother and daughter relationship.
