Still patiently waiting for part 2 and 3 of these 👍
still waiting 1 year later....
3 years later...
@@commanderdigital Soon to be 5 years
@@some-white-haired-beardedguyalmost 6 now lol
Great overview, brother. If only DC had done the right thing and put Sword of Azrael in those omnis. I guess they could try to do a Road to Knightfall Omnibus. Not, sure what else they could include. To this day I still love that Azrael outfit.
As always absolutely amazing. Your videos are another level of quality that always amaze.
Can't wait for part 2&3.
Thank you so much! Such a speedy response of me just posting :) UA-cam is taking their sweet time getting the 4k rendered (at the time of me writing this comment, its 360p)
@@TheDeluxeEdition it doesn't matter what quality the video is in I will always watch....but 4k is always appreciated 😁, good old UA-cam.
I just finished reading the hardcover omnibus version recently myself and even though I heard the story dragged after Bruce departed I found the series a compelling read from start to finish. The Azeal arc, the Grayson arc, the return of Bruce Wayne, each of these parts of the story were great and I had no problem plowung through the story. This omnibus is great. Makes the series pretty much complete. I highly recommend this.
Glad to finally see somebody who is enthusiastic as me in regards to this saga! :)
I have all three omnibus 😊😊
5:40 haha that Mario was great, showing the inconsistent dc logo! xD
Great vid. Got the first vol and definitely wan’t 2&3 as well.
The printing company that DC uses really has poor quality control... it’s not like that on all copies.
The Deluxe Edition unfortunately there is no alternative. Either you get it or not. :)
Let’s just hope the quality improves ongoing.
Greetings from Germany,
Matt
@@TheDeluxeEdition Brother can you guide me to collect the knightfall saga in 25th anniversary edition???How many issues I have to buy???
I was missing your videos, glad to see your back! Top quality as always
I know I commented on this a while ago I just have to reiterate how great this entire series is. I’m so happy to have this omnibus series. It is some of my favorite Batman. Now I’m waiting on the No Man’s Land omnibus series to be fully published in omnibus so I can finish that series.
It is hard for me to believe the excellence you apply in making your videos. It is also hard for me not watching your videos completely, since they are so interesting and the quality of your camera is amazing.
Keep it this way!
Whoa!! Thank you so much!!
@@TheDeluxeEdition any plans to finish vol 2 & 3?
What a great video! The effects, cinematography, video quality, narration. Everything is spot on! I just got the 9 paperbacks and can't wait to read it all.
Thank you for your explanation in this video. I was having trouble deciding what to purchase on google books. The entire 2012 set was available for a cheap discount and I was going to choose it over the 9 volume 25th Anniversary set, as unfortunately, only the 2nd and 3rd volumes of that set were discounted. But now understanding the errors in the 2012 set thanks to you, I decided to purchase the prelude for full price, as well as the following 2 volumes. I also purchased Batman Venom as you recommended. It was discounted as well.
2 years later...still waiting for part 2???
I have the first one and its great how they've explained banes character. I took a reference from your video to buy the book. Thanks so much.😀
I remember Azreal being one of the first characters that i remember in comics. Others being Storm and Shadowman.
I like your knowledge of the DC universe. Makes me exited to read my books.
John Williams Many Thanks! Another book in that era I’ll be covering next year will be Zero Hour... expect a video when the Omni drops.
@@TheDeluxeEdition i have vol prelude to knightfall and knightfall vol 1and 2. should I buy the vol 3 of omnibus ????
I love the quality of these videos! You should do more of these videos! I would like to see a Knightquest and knightsend video too.
Falserizuffer Ezek Cheers for the love! Parts 2 and 3 will definitely be sprinkled through 2019. Next up will most likely will be Flashpoint.
@@TheDeluxeEdition great!
I read the 3 omnibus volumes this year. As a 90s kid, I enjoyed them all. I recall Vol 1 being a bit gratuitous in all the opening backstory positioning Batman as weakened even before Banes gauntlet plan kicks off. But once you power through that, these 3 volumes move fast. 👍 One other nit pick, you need to buy Sword of Azreal TPB separately as he just shows up in the Omni with no context or backstory - very strange.
Nice! This story even though in a grand scale, was so easy to power through like you said. Personally I think Batman 488 is only needed to get the backstory of Azrael/Jean-Paul. Batman: Venom gives more context on the drug that enhances Venom's strength.
Stunning video as always. Love all the knowledge dropped.
Thanks man!!
Unlike Batman's back 😂. Awesome video Aleks! The omni looks fantastic. Funny enough, I recently started re-reading the saga as well. Let's hope for an eventual Absolute. Happy holidays and keep those videos coming in 2019!
Thanks man!! Will do and I think I'll surprise you with some books I'll be reviewing in 2019
I'm not buying this at all, even after listening to you gush about it....but I'm definitely watching part 2 and 3 and was excited while I watched the video. Amazing work, as per usual!
Thanks! I understand as this story is a very specific taste. Has pure nostalgia value for me.
Hush is better
We're never getting a part 2
the quality of your videos in terms of presenting your goddamn well done research is just incredible. the in depth overviews of the single issues helps a lot. why arent you using a platform like patreon or so, i would definitely honor your work
Incredible video, dude! I appreciate all the detail you put into it. Can't wait for part 2!
Great video! Can't wait for the next parts!
Cheers for that! Will sprinkle the second and third parts through 2019
@@TheDeluxeEdition Nice!
Great video man. You should do a podcast. About DC omnibus and DC up and coming omnibus.
Thanks man! I have been featuring a lot of DC Omnis here on the channel but my reading is basically split through the middle between Marvel and DC... definitely not DC exclusive.
As a kid I never knew the outcome to Bruce recovery I now know after finally buying all issues and it's a massive drawn out story. My only complaint about Knightfall was the art work it's easy to tell theirs two different artists and one of them was far better at drawing bane at times Bane looks incredible other times he looks rushed his mask looks tight and sleek then it will look more like a helmet it's easy to see both artist vision of bane he drawn hairy in one comic then all body hair gone in his next appearance it was frustrating at times
For me, the issues where Graham Nolan draw Bane were the best character drawing on the entre series. I love Jim Aparo Batman design but with Bane meh...
Great work as always. Superb presentation on your videos. Congratulations!
Ive been waiting on a review
thank you for this review i was so confused about which book to start with reading bane.
Tom King and Flawless Batman run do you not belong in the same sentence together.
I love your videos! Glad to see you back!
I agree with most of what you said. The only exception being the design of the outside cover and spine(s). The proportions look all out of whack to me and not even in a cool 90s way. (Does AzBat look a bit chunky on the vol 2 cover?) The text block on the spines not aligning is frustrating to me as well. It would have been nice to have a design that spreads across all three volumes like on the new TPB set. Real missed opportunity there imo.
That said, I happily own all three! Please keep up the hard work- your vidoes are my favorite thing on UA-cam right now!!
Happy 2019!
Happy 2019!!! Thank you so much! Basically the wraparound art by Kelley Jones is how he has evolved as an artist. I guess it’s all subjective but I agree it’s not too familiar to his 90s work.
Azbats for the win!
I actually do own the old 2012 paperback and didn't realise it missed parts. Now I have to decide if I want the new tpb's or the omni
Both are now complete . I would lean towards the Omni if you have room on the bookshelf.
@@TheDeluxeEdition Thanks for the recomendation :)
love your videos. your such a good salesman! I put it on my wishlist now (i own the floppies already xD)
My floppies are fully wrecked from all the read throughs as a kid :) I should look towards getting some new fresh and crispy copies of 497 and 500 (foil edition) before the next video.
haha. you should defo get some crispy foils!
I got all 3 awhile ago and really enjoyed the read.
Do, a, collection! (please)
Just to make sure I understood you correctly. The 25th anniversary editions have ALL the content from the old TPs + new content? How's that possible? Old TPs are 3 times bigger. I mean, Vol 1 of the old TP is as thick as all 25th anniversary editions together. I just recently started collecting comics and I have the Prelude to Knightfall and old TPs. I would definitely want to upgrade if the two 25th anniversary editions have all the content from the three old TPs + new content. (especially since I haven't' read it yet). Thanks for the clarification!
Where's parts 2 & 3?
Its a cool story
Great!
There you are!!
Sorry, I got a bit confused here, so I would appreciate if someone could clarify:
1. So the 3 new 25th anniversary trade paperbacks (Prelude, Vol 1 and Vol 2) from 2018 contain the whole relevant story, EXCEPT for Sword of Azrael?
2. If that is so, is SOA unnecessary or important, because despite what I heard in this video, I've heard many other people complain it wasn't put in previous editions? What do you other Batman fans think - is it needed?
Thanks in advance!
In my opinion, Jean Paul Valleys aka Azrael backstory is perfectly recapped in Batman 488 which is in the prelude. We don’t truly dive into the character until the Knightfall trilogy.
So which is the best route to buy? Omnibus, old thick trades, or the new trades.
Are these copies going to become valuable in the future? From an investment point of view?
Part 2?????
Part 2 pleaaaase
I love your content and your quality of producing a video, but calling Tom King's run absolutely flawless makes my eyelid shiver and my brain scream "blasphemy!!", hope you have nice holidays though :D
Many Thanks and Happy Holidays! I hope you have a great one!! Personally I find that King hits all the right notes in each of his arcs...I know there’s a lot of people that aren’t a fan of his work especially after Batman 50. Once his 105 issue arc is over and collected in the Deluxe Hardcovers, I may drop a video to start the discussion.
@@TheDeluxeEdition Thanks man! Got my first omnibus for Christmas (Supersons), the book is so beautiful! :D
Nice that you can find so much joy in Kings work, I'm looking forward to your opinion on it.
But funny, for me personally the stories of the 6th trade (38-44) didn't really click (except #44), I even skipped the 3rd dlx because of it, though I have the feeling the story may be picking up again with the wedding twist and everything that came after, I'm concerned about the backstory of why the other batman is there...
When do we get parts 2&3?
If you have the chunky paperback, couldn’t you just get the prelude trade? Great video by the way!
Billyjoe Jenkins Yup... if you just want the trades... The omni is there for a different reading experience with the oversized pages.
Still waiting for part 2
Great video as always. I was wondering why don't you cover Marvel comics, do you just prefer DC because they have better storylines or Marvel isn't really your thing.
Thank you! It comes down to time and money. I use to pick up both DC and Marvel for weekly books . I feel I can’t pick DC or Marvel without dipping across the whole Universe. It’s a slippery slope due to cross referencing books and crossovers. If this was my full time job, you would have me diving back into Marvel without hesitation! That said, the 2019 resolution for this channel is to cover Independent/Indie books like from Image and Dark Horse.
Good vid btw......i hsve vol 1 and 3 of tbe omnubus but wss off volume 2 due to a reported printing error that dc havent recalled.....can you cinfirm this?
Thanks! Yes ... Whenever I get the chance to do part 2 to cover the second volume... They had screwed up the page ordering for Legends of the Dark Knight 61 (first four pages in the wrong order). I want to get my hands on the new trades to see if they had corrected it there.
Tom king? Flawless? What you smoking!?
I HATE that the title on the spine is not really, but only partially uniform as seen at 1:11 in the video. It would have looked flawless if volume 1 had the same pattern as the following two. Little things like that can grind my gears!
Thats a stupid reason...
You should see my shelf lol
@@Duvdeve I never said I wouldn't buy them, just that I would have preferred them to look more uniform. :)
@@NicolausCamp I wouldnt buy any comic with the 90's art its aweful to be honest :/
Im a concept design student and every time I see these anatomy and perspective mistakes it triggers the f out of me, and they are in every panel. Just looking at the cover with bane breaking batman's back looks like a rob liefeld drawing.
is vengence of bane included in knightfall omnibus?
Which issue can I find the backstory of how bane infiltrated the Batcave? I know its secret files and origins but I don't know which one? Thanks
Dqvid Restrepo Batman Villains Secret Files #1 . Brian Bolland did the cover.
Is Part 2 and & 3 coming soon?
What's happening with parts 2 and 3?
Hi, so basically if I own the three softcover tpbs of knightfall i should pick up The prelude? Or is not necessary at all? what is The material i'm missing there? Thanks for The answer
Tomas Milonga Hi! If you own the original 2012 trades, you are missing “prelude” issues with the exception of Vengeance of Bane and Batman 491. I think it’s essential for the setup of Knightfall for two main reasons: Bruce is weakened with the lead up to knightfall and the reintroduction of Azrael from Sword of Azrael.
@@TheDeluxeEdition so i just have to buy The three prelude tpbs.. Oh Man i cant stop buying books.. Thanks anyway
Tomas Milonga Just the one TPB volume which contains all the prelude issues. You don’t need the 25th anniversary 2nd and 3rd volumes unless of course the yellowing paper annoys you :)
@@TheDeluxeEdition awesome then! Thanks again
Whats better?
The New 25th aniversary or the old tpb, i only ask this because the old one seems to have more because it looks thicker
You need the new three volume Knigthfall TPB set to get the complete story. The older TPB has the prelude issues missing.
@@TheDeluxeEdition thanks
Will DC reprint this?
I have faith on a new printing.
Without spoilers: do you think its worth to buy the trilogy? How complete are these new books? (so far I only found the prequel 4 part Azrael comics are missing)
Sword of Azrael isn’t mandatory reading. I would try pick up the Prelude TPB and see how you like the Saga and whether it’s worth picking up the three Volume Omni. Personally for me it has major nostalgia value so it’s a yes .
@@TheDeluxeEdition Well I haven't born yet when this event came out, but I've heard it already, multiple times, that its worth to read. Thanks for the tip!
why do you buy multiple formats of the same books?
WHERES PART 2
I didn't like Knightfall. I saw it as a cash-grab/publicity stunt along the lines of Death of Superman. I also didn't like those Kelly Jones covers which depict Batman as skeletal with absurdly long years. I loved "Sword of Azrael" and the failure to include it in these volumes is another reason not to get them.
I found it absolutely strange why they didn’t include Sword of Azrael here to give the reader more familiarity with the character... Robin just does a brief recap instead.
Where's part 2 and 3. lol
Is it me or the spines of the 3 new tpb...dont match?????
Haha i didnt see Mario! So the fuc# up the spines. Come on Dc! It not that hard to do it right!
@@facufeg86 LOL! I think you were the first one to notice :) This wasn't DC's fault but the Printing Company who didn't do the QA on the printer cut. As how I understand, it goes straight from the printing company to Diamond Distributors. Like many publishers, DC relies on the printing company to do the QA on the books.
