I just hope people have the dedication and time to learn. Making a basic game like this from a tutorial is a task of many months, it took me 2.5 months in full time (4h every day) to complete this course. Its great but if you really want to make a proper game you need to learn things yourself while doing the course. Its not meant to be copy pasted and sold on steam, you need to have a proper concept, learn how to model yourself or where to get proper 3d models, how to animate, how networking works etc. Im just writing this because i see too many people just copy pasting this, chaning the assets and calling it a game. This is not a game, this is a framework for your own game. Everyone who just copy pastes this concent and tries to sell it on steam shows a bad light on the indie dev community, do this course if you have dedication, a lot of time, the will to learn and you understand abstract concepts. You need to learn everthing you are doing in this course otherwise you don't know how to apply it in the real world after you are done with this course. The huge content this course gives is the reason why its literally the best you can get, this course is literally worth more than 700$ if there are certain plugins on the asset store which sell for more. This is the ONLY course that gives you a in depth teaching in how to create a game, if you do this course you will realize that any 10-20 Hour blueprinting tutorial is just junk, it takes multiple hours to explain something as basic as how interfaces are used, how networking works etc. I learned it the hard way with this course, every short explaination and tutorial video either teaches bad practices or the creator does not understand it himself. Doing this course is basically someone from the industrie telling you you and everyone else was doing things wrong and are a lot more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought. I watched ALL Matthew Wadstein videos, read Marcos Romeros Blueprint book, looked into technical stuff like server - client communication or how arrays/variables work on a low level, did multiple other courses, looked through any major BP tutorial, took game math courses which took 18 hours to complete and so on. This is the only course that actually is what you need if you want to learn blueprinting or making a game.
Yep, copy and paste is a mistake. Those that only copy and paste probably won't learn much, unless they are some kind of genius with an eidetic memory. That's most definitely not me, lol I'm mostly using this course as a project plan. I run through each chapter, implementing as I go, but then alter things to suit my own game (this has been done a lot, especially as it is set in the Wild West and has realistic graphics - I create most of my models), and I add other things (e.g. character selection and creation screen - this took a freaking age to implement!). I've actually just shelved the current version of the project (working for UE 5.3, and everything done up to and including Chapter 14. Multibiome / Procedural Foliage) and started again. This time with UE 5.4 and adding first and third person view, plus using only the Unreal Engine skeleton (Manny) for my character models (this required swapping the UE4 one for the UE5 one). Plus, I am using control rig for the animations. I'll be transferring as much of the work that exists in the old project as is possible to the UE 5.4 project. This won't be a quick task, as I will be making improvements as I go. Considering I have started again (sort of), and there is a new version of the course which is for UE 5.4, I'd might as well run through that from the start. Bound to be useful bits and bobs in there :) Oh, and I do highly recommend the course to anyone who wants a challenge, especially if they want to truly learn. I've learned a hell of a lot!
These are the same “developers “ that want a copy of the project so they don’t even have to develop it, just download, build, ship and sell! Don’t give these people your money!
Im brand new to game dev and im dying to learn how eu5 works like im willing to learn c++. What should i do first or where do i even start to learn enreal engine?
Hey im from Germany, I bought your old course back then and have only skimmed through it so far. I have been intensely involved in character creation (sculpting, painting, rigging, animating) for over two years now. When I soon finish and have everything up to animation done, I'll start with your course. When I think about how many years of learning this course will save me, I really want to thank you sincerely for bringing out such a comprehensive course. The feeling of knowing that I own this course and will learn everything I need without having to figure it all out on my own is fantastic. I am sure that with this course, you will inspire many people in the long run and help them not give up. I know how hard it is when you don't have the opportunity to attend a school nearby to learn game development, or can't afford the tuition fees, and therefore try for years to acquire the knowledge on your own, maybe even give up because it's too demanding. I just want to sincerely thank you for doing this!
I also bought a course, precisely because in your course everything is laid out on the shelves as it should be, with such courses I was able to do something that I could not do for 2 years, I started and gave up studying UnrealEngine again because it did not work out, the biggest problem was there was nothing wrong with the versions of the engine and the lessons posted on UA-cam, thank you very much for your work!
This video sold me on getting this course. I originally did not want to invest the money, but it covers everything I have been struggling to do on my own. I love your teaching style. Keep up the great work.
Bought this course a couple months ago! This one has a bunch of stuff I hadn’t seen before, I’ll get back to this one after a few more shorter courses! Just so much to do at work and with my own rpg and other projects. Cheers! 🎉
This looks amazing, the first version of the course is amazing but this definitely added features that I like. Even the updated animations look awesome.
I saw this course a while back and knew that I was going to want to do it once you updated it for UE5.4. I'm just learning Unreal and was considering doing your previous course once I finish the beginner's course I'm working on now (so probably next week). I'm going to purchase now because that discount is nice, and I'll start the course in a week or two. I'm sure I'll have a million questions but this already looks incredible!
I've learned loads doing the original course! I am about 70%-ish through, and plan to complete that as well as the new one. Keep up the great work, SP!
I’ve worked in the games industry as a 3D environment artist for 10+ years and have been learning Blueprint in recent times, with the goal of creating my own games. Your videos have been a fantastic resource for me so far, so I’m going to enrol on this. Nice work! 👍
I took this course myself and learned a lot. Thanks to this course I was able to kickstart my career in game development and now have my very own game on steam. Thanks Smart Poly for all the hard work you put in to make this. I highly recommend.
Dann. After stopping the Project a few Months ago I was actually thinking about going back into it. This is the Sign I needed to start again. And this time I will start over and not stop until I got my Dream Game done. This Tutorial Course is actually really good, it just took too much time back when I had to stopp doing it.
if you don't have this course purchased yet, what are you waiting for? I followed through the original course and can't recommend it enough, I've learned so much from this legend. This course will not only help you understand how to make a survival game but it will also help you understand basic blueprint structures, folder organization, and much more.
Hey, remastered course uses same mesh for First person and third person which is very greate improvement I think. I remember using different stuff for each mode was pain in the ass. You guys really have to try it this time.
Hi. I bought your course for the Multiplayer survival Game a while ago. Thank you for updating the course to UE 5.4. In my opinion the course is really fantastic. I also have a few ideas to make the whole Thing usable for my upcoming study project. How difficult IS IT to convert the multiplayer aspect into a single-player one? I want to create a third / first person survival concept from the ground up with more depth. It`s intended to give the Person playing the "game" a real feel of what survival means. Actually more of a simulation of real life with slightly changed Parameters. With all the beautiful and all the cruel aspects.
First of all, thank you very much for this great course. I have already bought several courses from Udemy. Your course is the most comprehensive so far, I learn things here that I can use later for my own game. What happens next? When are the next chapters coming?
I love your teaching style, but I honestly wish more people would make RPG tutorials. This open world survival type games are so easy to make with assets. But with an rpg or an action game, you actually have to make the combat interesting. I wish someone would have videos that dive into souls like formula or even just some basic button mashing stuff with a few combos.
It kind of sucks you redid everything and then they came out with all these wonderful new features and 5.5 lol. I still haven't watched the course yet it's sitting on my hard drive I've been so busy at Fullsail University
I'm buying the course Friday, but I have a question: does your locomotion system have any type of parkour system where the player can climb over objects? Just to let everyone know, Smart Poly is the best teacher/training I've seen. Just by watching the videos on this channel, I'm became a beast with Unreal Engine. Thus, I recommend this course because his UA-cam videos shows you that no one teaches Unreal Engine 5 like him. Oh yeah, is the 5.4 version ready to go? I'll be in on Friday. The community appreciates you!!!! Finally, when is the Multiplayer Shooter course is coming out? I'm dying for that one.
Judging from the first course the locomotion system is pretty simple, and the updated one looks like that too. But it's probably the easiest part to replace yourself if you have the assets for it. The rest is amazing.
Pro tip: use a post process volume with infinite extent, to activate deactivat Lumen! I tested it and it’s far better in performance compared to having it always on in your project settings. Disable lumen in global illumination and shadows and you’ll get 2.5GB back in vram of your gpu
I'm becoming interested in this course because I've been thinking a lot about starting to create games in UE5. The comments speak very highly of the course, although I'm not usually one to follow comments. How much/ how long is this course? Getting ready to try and learn unreal. Gonna watch you other tutorials first though just to make sure i can get into it
Im interested in the course, but I think I would have to see how well your end product actually runs on a server with a handful of people on it building and fighting first. Im seeing some comments about the fact that it is made in blueprints, isnt not coding it in c++ going to make it much harder to have it run well on a big server in the end? Ive always wanted to know exactly how to recreate ark on a really functional level so i could improve on it in wierd crazy ways, so this is super interesting at least I just really want to understand exactly what the knowledge from this would enable me to vreate functionally as a released game
Bought the course but it doesn't work for me to join the Discord. PLEASE HELP. I have typed my email address exactly as instructed in the video, I've tried multiple variations of writing the email address, with a space at the end, with capitals/no capitals, etc. It doesn't work. I only use 2 email addresses in my life, I have tried everything with those two email addresses. IT DOESN'T WORK. I cannot verify and therefore cannot discuss/receeive help for the course at all because everything is tied to the Discord server. I have bought your product, can You please help me fix this?
Who the heck are you to simply demand to a person you do not know? Ask nicely at least. The guy uploaded a video to promote a course who took him A LOT of time, probably over a hundred hour to do and you come to demand more and free. Anyway, you have dozens of other channels who did the same thing you are asking.

The main problem I have is that I want to apply this knowledge outside of Unreal Engine (For career purposes), i assume that everything is Blueprint based which is a visual scripting language only specific to UE, whilst not really learning C++ in itself so one can leverage gained C++ knowledge outside of gamedev? i.e. if i were to use Unity instead, i would gain profound knowledge of C# which would help with jobs outside of Unity?
Sorry for asking again. So I understand that a listen server is a p2p server and NOT a dedicated server? Because all dedicated servers cost a lot of money to hire and uphold.
Nossa muito bom esse curso vou fazer demais, tudo que eu queria para meu game, primeira e terceira e se tiver sistema de pegar mochila para almentar o inventario sera top Wow, this course is really good, I'm going to do a lot, everything I wanted for my game, first and third, and if there's a system for getting a backpack to add to the inventory, that would be great.
Hi sir. Just a quick question. Is the online play the same as the forest and Conan where you can host the server from you own pc. I do not know how to describe this. But basically I invite friend and play up to 8 players at the same time without having to pay for a expensive server every month.
Bro when I am opening unreal engine and when I reach the tab of project in which all project are listed and error is coming gpu crashed or d3d Device removed Use -d3ddebug to enable the D3D debug option check log for gpu state information
Is this course even still being updated for 5.4? Doesnt have the complete course up and with ue5.5 out would it be scrapped to re-do again in 5.5? Cause the 5.4 course hasnt been updated in a while it seems
@SmartPoly no worries, but it will be a complete course for 5.4 eventually? I'm always skeptical on buying into these types of courses due to a very low percentage of them being completed and get abandoned halfway but in saying that it seems to have a couple of systems I would like to learn mainly the replication and inventory system
because udemy is a horrible website. They take a massive price cut and people can discount the course price down to $1, then download the whole thing and upload it on a pirate website. Thats what happened when I uploaded the course on udemy for only 1 week.
I have A few questions about it like how much longer you are having it on sale because I'm so close to buying it I just need like $15 more dollars then I'm going to buy it, and question number two is once you do buy it does it come with all of the assets for the game or, do we have to buy those separate?
I'm guessing it is just an oversight but... in the course outline on the course page it says that only chapter 1 and 2 are available and all other chapters are "coming soon". Is that correct?
That original course was made so rough and poorly. Yes, I went from cover to cover and completed it. I'm hoping your new course will be more refined, have direction, and won't deviate from chapter to chapter.
If you are so smart with your course why are you not making a game with your course and get rich? instead of making youtube vidoes? So logically it follows that your course is garbage and useless because if YOU the creator of the course didn't benefit from it, how the hell am i?
lol what is wrong with you. A solo indie dev isn't going to get rich statistically, but you can use the skills to get a decent paid job. Absolute child. Also he is getting rich of it, since if he sells 1k courses at £100 a year, he's in the 1 percent from this one block of time.
you realize he has like atleast 5000 people who took the course which equals out to $300,000 since the course is $60 each right? the course is amazing, he is amazing, and he definitely made some good money off it it
Have you ever made any commercial game? Do you aware of ways to reach the audience? Making anything beyond "flappy birds" takes a LOT of resources time including. And to get such resources the most logical approach is either be creative making YT tuts / online courses. Or both. And yeah.. its freakin easy playing sofa-based-guru role asking smart (no) questions with a great attitude. Time to grow up and learn a piece or two of real dev skills and then will be so easy keeping away from asking such dumb questions combined with bs assumptions.

I only use 2 email addresses in my life, I have tried everything with those two email addresses. IT DOESN'T WORK. I cannot verify and therefore cannot discuss/receeive help for the course at all because everything is tied to the Discord server. I have bought your product, can You please help me fix this?
send me an email
@@SmartPoly sent!
EDIT: I have access now thank you!

@@SmartPoly No... There is not.

The main problem I have is that I want to apply this knowledge outside of Unreal Engine (For career purposes), i assume that everything is Blueprint based which is a visual scripting language only specific to UE, whilst not really learning C++ in itself so one can leverage gained C++ knowledge outside of gamedev?
i.e. if i were to use Unity instead, i would gain profound knowledge of C# which would help with jobs outside of Unity?
did someone bought and tried the course already? how is the telling/ teaching and feedback for the questions?
Nice work m8
Hope Motion Matching is also in the course
no its not
@@SmartPoly k :(
When will there be new lessons!?
Sorry for asking again. So I understand that a listen server is a p2p server and NOT a dedicated server? Because all dedicated servers cost a lot of money to hire and uphold.
So what exactly is different?
The original one has like 250 lectures while this one has 45?
omggg its out!!
looks really cool. and thats coming from an 3d artist which has no coding background 😁
hey Smart, is it possible to buy the course with regional pricing? Because it is kinda expensive for me since I don't earn US Dollars
I am trying to get teachable to setup this feature
@@SmartPoly thank you
I just spend my salary before finding this tutorial, damn.
does it include things like zipline or building system like in ( The forest)
Nossa muito bom esse curso vou fazer demais, tudo que eu queria para meu game, primeira e terceira e se tiver sistema de pegar mochila para almentar o inventario sera top
Wow, this course is really good, I'm going to do a lot, everything I wanted for my game, first and third, and if there's a system for getting a backpack to add to the inventory, that would be great.
I've never taken a course in this manner, is this course something I can revisit and keep access to after purchase later down the line?
will there eventually be isolation of first and third person animations or are they all made on the full body mesh?
nope. But if you want your game to have separate first person mesh and third person, check out the original course
@@SmartPoly that's incredible; I'll definitely be purchasing both; may I ask, how did you learn all of this in order to fashion such quality courses?
Hi sir. Just a quick question. Is the online play the same as the forest and Conan where you can host the server from you own pc. I do not know how to describe this. But basically I invite friend and play up to 8 players at the same time without having to pay for a expensive server every month.
there is listen server in this course
Bro when I am opening unreal engine and when I reach the tab of project in which all project are listed and error is coming gpu crashed or d3d Device removed
Use -d3ddebug to enable the D3D debug option check log for gpu state information
Love to see update course with engine
Is this course even still being updated for 5.4? Doesnt have the complete course up and with ue5.5 out would it be scrapped to re-do again in 5.5? Cause the 5.4 course hasnt been updated in a while it seems
it will not be updated for 5.5. it will remain version 5.4
So I want to make a mobile game kinda mixed between fps and a survival game sort of like Dayz what do you recommend?
Does it teach how to customize it all the steps?
Hello. I bought your curse on Udemy but u removed it from there. Why? I was excited to start it
because udemy is a horrible website. They take a massive price cut and people can discount the course price down to $1, then download the whole thing and upload it on a pirate website. Thats what happened when I uploaded the course on udemy for only 1 week.
@@SmartPoly wow thats bad... i purchased there because they were in my local currency, unfortunately i cannot buy on the original price :(
I have A few questions about it like how much longer you are having it on sale because I'm so close to buying it I just need like $15 more dollars then I'm going to buy it, and question number two is once you do buy it does it come with all of the assets for the game or, do we have to buy those separate?
As software engineer basically focusing on .NET (C# 99%) I would like to ask if there anything like this on Unity?)
Already bought the couse, but not getting proper support
Can you please make a video on how to make a game and convert it in to mobile phones please 🙏🙏🙏
So, if I enroll the original course now, can I automatically get both of the original and 5.4 remastered courses?
I'm guessing it is just an oversight but... in the course outline on the course page it says that only chapter 1 and 2 are available and all other chapters are "coming soon". Is that correct?
@jaymiddleton772 Hey, did you get an answer to your question? I'm also about to buy this course. Do you think it's worth it?
@@shoortz580 It's not worth it! Lessons take a very long time to come out.
So I have a question If i purchase old 5.0 course Now can i get free access to remaster course ??
Quick question, I have around 30% complete and new version is from spexific point or is made from scrach in 5.4?
I'm using Unreal Engine 5.3, my map is ready, can I continue using Unreal Engine 5.3?
this course has major use of C++ or BP?
I really really would want to see tree chopping with Chaos
Pls add swimming water surface tutorial
can you please add dutch (Netherlands) Translation?
I really hope the mic is fixed in the course. My ears
I didn’t get the new course after the update RIP!
Is this course really on sale for only $60?
Can you please create one that runs on android.
When are you gonna make a fps zombie game?
he did
WOOT! Time to start! Btw, tried to join the discord and my email said is already verified for some reason.
I would love to obtain this course. Unfortunately I won't have the funds due to being poor. I'm not begging but I'm not above having too.
That original course was made so rough and poorly. Yes, I went from cover to cover and completed it. I'm hoping your new course will be more refined, have direction, and won't deviate from chapter to chapter.
Blueprint or c++
It's like the last course...😂
Czech sub ?
❤
This game looks like ARK survive evolved and rust
I did send you an email , but you never got back to me.
Every Unreal Engine Channel became Pay2Learn and it's all the same lackluster basic survival game.
clickbait
unsubscribe for continues clickbait of the same thing...
Whst do you mean? Its a remaster of his Old course
Also he is getting rich of it, since if he sells 1k courses at £100 a year, he's in the 1 percent from this one block of time.
your intelligence level shows...
you realize he has like atleast 5000 people who took the course which equals out to $300,000 since the course is $60 each right? the course is amazing, he is amazing, and he definitely made some good money off it it
This reply is clickbait lol.
How hard would it be to incorporate motion matching into this?
