This video is what I really really want!! THANK YOU.
Glad it was helpful. I have a few on different 360 cameras.
Most helpful video.... plus bonus editing and music tips was the icing on the cake ~!!! this is gonna be a game changer for me for sure !!!
Stoked to hear this video helped you out.
Great Sean, Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome little tutorial. Thx buddy
You're welcome.
Very cool !!!1 Thanks for sharing 👍
thanks for watching, hopefully it was helpful.
Excellent demo and tutorial Sean!
Glad you liked it!
superrrrr helpful, thank you so much!
HAHAHA the bloopers xD
Glad it helped! and glad you enjoyed the bloopers. i try and remember to mix some in here and there to videos. lol
Great info Sean!! Lmao nice" let's get serious now" glasses.
lol, thanks. had to include the bloopers
You got a new subscriber for being so frank about your works. Thanks
Welcome aboard! hope you find some fun older videos and enjoy them as well.
Good info...thank u so much brother
Glad it was helpful
Thanks man🤘🏽
No problem 👍
I enjoyed this video, Sean. That's indeed a well-rounded cam you got there.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@SeanOzz :)
this video is helping me alot , thank you very much an hope your safe
Glad it helped
Amazing video bro!!!!
thanks buddy! glad you are digging the design.
Great video thumbs up for you and your talents.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
I appreciate all your effort for doing these videos I watched till the end witch made me laugh a lot 🤣🤣🤣
thank you, means a lot you stay through the end. appreciate it!
Thanks for the quick tutorial on editing in-app. I was really lost when I took at look at my first 360 footage
Glad it was helpful.
Great video with funny intro.. what!! good tip disabling the logo, we don’t what that. The editing looks nice with pointing the iPad in the direction you see
Yes. That is my favorite way to edit the insta one x and the one r. With the max you can use your fingers to do similar.
The camera has interesting concept, that it can change from an action camera to a 360 camera. I loved the way you went over the editing process, which is probably the secret sauce in this 360 work flow. You captured some great video with this camera, but I still I like GoPro Max you were telling us about last week.
@@SeanOzz I am interested in your offer of an interactive tutorial. I feel that it would be particularly helpful to those new to 360 in general and video editing in particular. Have subscribed. Will attend if and when notified with greatful thanks. A very raw newby.
Hey Ron, the max can switch from 360 to action cam with the tap of a button. no need for moduals.
the 1" on the r is great though.
Your video is one of the most informative I've found on the whole UA-cam, after 4 days getting crazy because I thought my Insta was broken. Then I realized the flow state stabilization is just mediocre with the regular lens. Bit better with the 360 lens but hey... you can change the point of view, but your shaky hands will produce some shake footage!
I subscribed to you.
PS I also really liked your way of presenting the "spontaneous interruption" :-)
ciao!
Marco
thank you, i have a few on the x2 as well and original one x. all edit very similar. some shot lab tutorials to come.
Sean, thanks for the thumbs up... Thumbs up for you and your talents. Enjoyed it. LOL!
Glad you enjoyed it hope you are well....
Excellent video, Sean! Lots of useful information and helpful tips. Yes, I'm up for seeing a complete edit with the Insta 360 App since I'm not Final Cut user. Love your opening and especially the bloopers at the end, Nicely Done. Thank you, you and the family stay safe and well!
Thank you Steve, i started filming this one the day before they shut down all the mountains. editing it made me really wanna get out of the house.
@@SeanOzz Great timing for sure!
I'll for sure do one editing just on the ipad for the max and the r also
Sean Ozz Would it be the same for there desktop App?
Their desktop app is similar. Layout is different. The max is a blast to edit with your fingers though. The r is a blast to edit with that slider and a chair. Lol
How do u turn the stabilizer feature on? I have the insta360 1 r and It doesnt exsist in my menu..anywhere...
I did the calibration..and All thats in my resolution is basic/pro ...I really dont want to return this, but after the firmware update ..ive checked every setting in my menu and cant find any where to turn it on.
I also dont see smart track anywhere.. where are these settings?
mine is on through the app, you can do smart track also in the editing on the app, these are not on the camera itself. hope you got it working.
Thank you for this video. I was having issues working with the app. My videos are studdery and slow so it is a PITA.
A newer phone or tablet shouldn't have that stutter. I have seen it before but on export it goes away.
Sean Ozz I am using the iPhone 7 Plus not that old but yes old haha..
I could see a 7 plus stutter some. Your render should be good to go at least.
Sean Ozz thanks Sean for taking the time to reply.
Awesome video I just got this camera and I was trying to calibrate it. It counts the timer down and stays on processing? I am laying the camera upwards and the lens square down like instructed.....???
i have not had to calibrate one so i can not fill you in on that. sorry
Any recommendation on how to combine my insta360 one r videos and drone shots from dji mini? Any free software?
On mac use iMovie. Pc. DaVinci resolve. Also watch this speech that goes over mixing footage together.

Thanks. Good video. Would have liked to see reframing the 360 in Final Cut!
As of now I don't know a way to achieve that. Premiere has a plug in but I use final cut so have not tried it.
@@SeanOzz As I understand it you can't use FCPX for stitching, but for editing and reframing. Check this ua-cam.com/video/W1X8OqMpWSg/v-deo.html
Nice find.
Great video. The more I learn about 360 the more i see its a massive time cost to make. Im think 2 hours for 2 mins or something. Can i ask is it possible to continue editing other clips while exporting a prior one. Or do we just have to put the ipad down untill one is done? Thanks
a 2 min clip does not take long to edit at all if in full 360 and you wanna make some points of interest. you can not edit more than one clip at a time.
Nice video
I’m interested in editing in the app on an iPhone
I much prefer it. Doing a onex2 video soon.
geez Sean am still waiting for my aerial version of insta 360 r been 3 months when did you get ur camera looks great
i got it a couple days after Kelly and Ed left. i just had to play with it some first before deciding what type of video to make about it.
Hi I have edited my first 360 video clip within the app using my iPad, I have tried adding music but it only seems to play on the 1/2 or 1/4 speed sections 🤔 and also I can’t seem to get the edited clip from the app album to my iPad album, do you know if I’m doing anything wrong or if theirs anything I need to do what I’m missing ? Thanks
Sorry. Its hard to say without seeing what you're doing. I'll make some more editing videos soon. Hope one helps you.
Sean Ozz ok thanks I will keep an eye out
I have INSTA360 R (Twin Edition) and I wanted to ask if this editing is possible also on MacBook Air M2 or only on iPhone or Smartphones and iPad like you did? Thank you very much for the help! I am new here and I will start using my new 360 INSTA Camera in the next days.
There is an Insta360 app you can download and do similar stuff in
Hi, I'm new to the 360 world, but not new to editing, and have done a few weddings for the family, but in the entirety which has ended up too long. Can you tell us how to exclude shots to shorten the videos? I am used to backing up my raw videos to hard disk before editing, to free my memory cards, but that was before I knew that these could be edited in camera. I deleted the camera index file on the SD, and when I tried to put it back into the camera the files wouldn't read anymore! How do I recreate the index file for the camera to edit in camera files? Thx
Not sure if i follow what you did. You might want to hit up insta 360 support
When you reframe in the app, then export to them dropnonto an editor...if you want to go back and adjust reframing, does the app save that? I know you said you can go back and frame differently the same footage, but what I’m asking (it’s tricky wording this!) can you SAVE on the app a version of reframed footage to go back to. Asking another way, let’s say you go back to the footage and choose totally different angles and keyframes. Call this version B. You like it and export it but now you wanna go back to version A and tweak. Can you do that?
No. Once you clear keyframes and make a new one then it's the new one. But that's also easy to clear and start over as well.
However. You do not have to clear all the keyframes to change it. You can change just sections if that's all you need to do.
Sean Ozz thanks! I think GoPro Max operates the same way in this regard.
It would be cool though to have the feature :)
Yeah. The one x also. Set your points where you want the camera to look. It stays set that way till you clear one or all.
Sean Ozz don’t get me wrong though, it’s awesome stuff!!! 👍👍
how do you edit the just using the 4K mod of this camera all i want to do is just do in and out editing the clips and also stick other clips together so can make full video
as in final cut its going fuzzy on export , so if i can do all in the insta360 studio 2021 that be amazing thanks
you have to export it into an mp4 file to get the better quality so there is an extra step.
We were chatting last night about 360* video, can you edit this with some linear footage on the same timeline? Will it render? Thanks !
yes, depending on what you use to edit. i mix it together all the time. I show how i do that i this video actually. main thing it's about.
@@SeanOzz > Was being told that once you mix drone footage in you lose the 360* movement of the video in yt. You have to love the result as it is though. - (You discuss this at 9:18.) As you can see I'm not familiar with them and Thank You for the Info!!
there are two ways to use the footage you get from these 360 cameras.
one is fixed point, which is what i used for the snowboarding footage.
two is full 360, which lets viewers move the camera as they watch.
if you mix in fixed footage then it pretty much stays fixed from that point.
hope that helps.
Thanks so much for this video! I was about to return this thing. My GoPros are so much easier to use.
Yeah. The R is not one I use for snow sports.
How to I add footage from other sources (such as my cell phone) into my story? I'm using the android app.
I heard the new footage had to be copied to the Insta 360 R app on my phone. But I don't know where. I tried copying to the Insta 360 R folder, and various sub folders... but the footage doen not appear when I select "add media" while editing a story. So perhaps I'm not copying the footage to the right folder?
i use a compter to edit . however apps like imovie on your phone would allow that.
Good stuff! I'm still on the fence of getting this or gopro max..
I've done a few videos on the max showing it off. It might help you decide between them both.
@@SeanOzz yup.. totally going to watch them too!
Great video! Thanks for this informative video. Are you using always a lens protector?
No. I rarely use one.
@@SeanOzz thank you! get well soon!
@@jeighahrgalera1117 thank you very much.
Are you still sold on the one r for snowboarding edits? I'd imagine less hassle with positioning so more fun on the mountain?
i actually use the gopro max for most everything, on and off the mountain.
Nice video, Sean. Is there any way to do these things on the desk top version? It seems that most of these features are only on the phone app. Thanks.
Ok, I should have finished watching first. Have you noticed a loss of quality going from phone app export and then editing to desk top? I'll shut up now.
yes, there is a plug in for premiere and final cut i believe so you can edit in those . i know they have a downloadable app for the desktop as well.
i just like the feel of pinching and zooming and spinning around with a tablet.
Thank you for the information. I’m just wondering why some people upload very low resolution clips on UA-cam but yours are like a ultra full HD. Is it because they only use mobile app to edit the footages? Is there any specific things you did when you export the footage from premiere pro? Thanks
i use final cut pro and film everything in 1080 and export in 1080.
using the gopro max for a lot of my action stuff now.
hope that helps.
Hey, I’m a newbie. Can I just transfer the raw Insta360 files from the camera using cable to it and edit it exclusively on the pc with the transferred raw files from the camera?
Yes. Insta has an app you can download to edit on a computer but without as many features.
@@SeanOzz is that app like a plugin for adobe premiere or other video edit programs? What's the url link if you don't mind me asking?
Can you tell me how you got them from your ipad to your computer. In my case i would most likely be rendering on my iphone then exporting to my laptop to edit if thats possible.
I use airdrop since my computer is also Apple.
This seems to be a major factor that no one is making a point of including insta360. It feels like insta360 workflow is only good for apple and adobe premier pro together. If you have anything less its way to difficult to use. When i originally heard insta360 had its own software you could use no one mentions its a plug in for premier pro. Lol thats kind of a big deal. Kind of feels like insta360 should really have a disclaimer *only compatible with premier pro. Aside from posting direct from app for social media which for me is no something i need. Ugh trying to find work arounds but know one seems to be talking about this issue.
U can do an entire edit with just their software if that is better for you. If you use an iPad or phone to do it. You can post direct to your fa or one social media. Or take the file and use with free software for editing and mix it with other videos if you like.
Many many options so what you said is not the case. Specially the primer pro and apple thing.
Sean Ozz i totally understand what your saying but if i want to take 360 video and edit it with other none 360 videos professionally such as yours, that has to be done on editing software other than the insta360 app. The app just acts as the middle man to convert it to mp4. But the problem is if you have a iphone and a pc. Apple for some reason doesnt like you transferring large video files to your pc or any video over 15 minutes. So you sinple cant connect your phone and use itunes. Since my last post i have found a app that lets you transfer the files using wifi thankfully. I just wish insta360 had a desktop software that accepted the raw .insv files and converted them to mp4 that way you can just drag them off the sd card direct to the computer. Its cool they made a plug in for premier pro but if you dont use premier pro it leaves out a lot of people. So the exclusivity is my issue. Hopefully they come out with something in the future.
They do have a desktop software to do that very thing. It should be on there website for download somewhere.
I see what you are saying.
Check there desktop app and see if that solves the issue.
Can you show us how to edit directly from the 360 app please and thank you. I'm learning allot on your video. Thanks again
I show the basics of it in this very video. Watch all the way through starting around 6:30
Do you experience moisture problem in your lenses?
No
I’d really like to see a video of how you use the app to edit...I think you’d do a better job than some I have seen since they’re older software tutorials
thank you, in this video i use the app to edit and show how.
is there something else more specific you would like to see?
Sean Ozz software version is it?
I need to work with it as you go through it also...
I need to do it myself and then I’ll have questions, thanks!
I’m working on editing a video I took...unfortunately I ran out of memory o my iPad! Gotta find work around.
Pls tell me which is the best sd card I should get for insta 360 one r
this is the one i use. i like to keep it to 64GB so if the card fails i can just cheaply get a second. or just keep a second around so if you do need more space you have it ready to go.
U3 is the think it needs.

@@SeanOzz thank you sir🙏
Its a good card so it should work great.

Thanks
Bro tutorial video. Im right now trying to make a good video like you do. But not trying to vlog. Just want to have a good memories on my adventure with my fam. Anyway what app do u use to edit the video? Im using a MacBook and I phone 11
I use the one in this video. The insta 360 app. I like a tablet or phone like in the video. This way u can spin in a chair to reframe.
@@SeanOzz wow thanks for the response. And do u use the regular stick or the invisible stick??
Any stick thinner than the camera disappears. I used the cabin one.
@@SeanOzz ohh. So it doest matter if ist invisible stick or not huh.. thanks alot brother. Looking more vids for you. Thanks. Stay safe
VERY cool! At first I thought O crap another editing video.. "Michael, you can't handle these!"grrrrr ... Lol.. but I understood this one. Mmmm. Either I'm getting smarter (I dought that) or it says I understand the way you talk, because you kept it simple for old guys like myself... YES!👍👍 That's the ticket! It's def you... Lol... Thanks Shawn..👍👍 GREAT job.. Cool camera! FUNNY OUTTAKES.. Man what a mountain.. funny story, I skied a few times and the very first time I did, at the top of the mountain where your suppose to get off the chair lift, WELL.. YUP.. I GOT STUCK.. WELL PART OF ME DID ANYWAYS... Lol.... Funny SHIT TO SEE... A FAT Guy DANGLING FROM THE CHAIR LIFT BEING DRUG AROUND THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN.... And YES.. THEY HAD TO STOP THE LIFT AND GET ME OFF.... Ugh.. Lol... THE REST DIDN'T GO WELL EITHER (THE SKING DOWN PART! LOL. OMG) I'LL SAVE THAT FOR ANOTHER TIME.. 👍👍 thx buddy..
Mikey
That's awesome. I am glad it made sense. It started to confuse me during my own edit. Ha ha ha.
I need to make one showing how to edit the gopro max next.
That's a crazy lift ski story. Lol
10 minutes later!!! How long was that first video you exported? 30 seconds? I only ask, because There must be something wrong with my set up because for me simply trying to export a 4K video that’s only seven minutes long takes me literally two hours. I have determined the ratio of time it takes for every one minute of 4K footage that I record takes me about 20 minutes to export. And what’s worse is majority of the time I said wait those two hours only to get an export Failed message. So when you’re exporting a five minute video say… How long does it take you?
that clip was around 4-6 minutes (360 file).
if you are talking about the 4k in action mod mode then that would take some time to import. i use the action mode only in 1080 and the mode that allows you to use mp4 files. i hate having to import the files to export later for the action mod.
The exporting drives me so crazy, the 360 mod especially...takes me hours for a 5 minute video. I have tried via phone or computer and sometimes it says failed. Hate it so much lol
How do you like it compared to the Max?
it's not a bad camera by any means however i like my max more for the all in one unit aspect and stock color profile. mostly though horizon lock and hero mode.
What about the argument about no SloMo on the Max? What does the R do better than the Max?
If you have no other cameras then the r does a higher frame rate in the 4k mod than the max. I'll have to double check but I think its 120. I personally film in 1080 so the max having 60fps works fine for me and if I am filming slower stuff I will use a gopro 7, 8, or osmo action at 240 fps.
For my use the all in one, color profile, audio, are why I grab my max first but again that doesn't mean the r will bot for your needs. It's a pretty cool concept.
I currently have GoPro 7&8 and DJI Osmo Action. So I’m curious which would be better for me, the R or Max?
what do you want to use it for mostly? what activity ?
Thank you. And PS: the sound effect of video transitions throughout the video is really disruptive (I say it as constructive criticism)
Some love it. Some hate it. Luckily most seem to enjoy it. Each to their own and I appreciate the comment and feedback.
@@SeanOzz I don't mind it at all actually I think it doesn't enhance the overall video quality. but for some reason it sounded very loud in comparison to the rest of the audio level, hence I felt like mentioning it to you. Your voice would be at a certain level and then the transition sound would be almost twice as loud
Appreciate it.
Hi Sean.
I didn't know about that 4k mod doesn't (and still doesn't!), produce an .mp4 file. That's another reason why I don't think I will bother with it.
I was debating getting the "Expert edntion", which is the 360 mod with the 1 inch mod combo. But, the 1 inch mod has a fixed aperture - but whyyyyyyy!
That particular mod is being marketed as the "Pro" mode, therefore it should have an adjustable aperture.
I was Just about to push the go button on getting myself a one r - just as the world went to hell!
Don't see the point of the 4k mod - just run with a gopro as well and save all that switching!
The 1 inch mod was doing for me until I discovered about the fix aperture.
I settled on the "aerial edition", that's the 360 mod, with the drone mount. This will maximise the 360 capability of the camera, without getting mods that will just end up becoming superseded in 8 months time!
P.S.
If you are thinking of getting the drone mount, check the insta360 website. They are now showing a disclaimer for the mavic 2 only, not the original mavic, stating that it might affect the drones GPS signal - I say get it for the original mavic pro, or do they think nobody flying a mavic pro nowadays?
oh yes, it will indeed block gps signal to the drone. i have played with smaller things attached and you lose gps when flying so fly with caution for sure.
i assume the 1" sensor is the same thing. has to be run through the insta app before you can export it to an mp4 files. if so that's a huge bummer for work flow for me. i get it for the 360 mod but the rest that are fixed viewpoint should be regular mp4's or .mov files right off the sd.
do you need a super powerfull computer?
I do it on my iPad or phone. I like the app and how it works on there more.
@@SeanOzz I use 2 GP's to film while fishing, its a real pain in the ass. Can 1 360 cam do the work of those 2 cams? I fish all day, will I need a second battery? or can I plug a power bank and leave it on all day?
GoPro max you can plug in if I recall but any 360 I would use batteries so the wire will not show.
If you set it between you and the water you could edit twice showing different views with one camera.
Hey I got the Insta 360 One X, to post videos to my Instagram. I lost a LOT of quality instagram.com/p/CDn-XENJ_ul/?igshid=mtuvxf96ddo6 - how do I avoid losing quality? I had to export it to adobe rush premiere to add my own music.
I checked the link but wasn't sure which pic of video you were referring to. Everything loses some quality when going on social media.
Holy shit those sounds effects are loud and annoying... especially with earbuds on. NO MORE SOUND EFFECTS PLEASE !!!
Lol. I'll tone them down in the next one.
