This film never gets its due. Yet, it was the first major Hollywood film which dealt---in any way---with Eastern philosophy. It was brave in the sense that Hollywood is a business dependent on box office, yet it was a box office hit anyway. With this film, Tyrone Power put aside the swords and sandals for real acting. Wonderful film.
I read it 45 years ago while stationed in the Army stationed in Germany. It opened a whole world to me and to this day I still follow a lot of its ideals. While in the Army I used it as "scriptures" to convince the Army chaplain to sign the papers certifying my double bladed razor medallion as a religious symbol (thereby allowing me to wear it in uniform). I still wear one to this day.
This movie was introduced to me in the 1980’s...when I was in my 20’s,by the Great Australian Cinema Buff and Teacher..Mr Bill Collins.I would like to express my eternal gratitude to..Mr Collins and to wish him,Safe Passage now which is forever.The Razor’s Edge changed my Life ever after.Thaank you..Bill..God Bless🐝🌈
the enlightened state is more easily attainable now than ever - no longer do we need mountain top retreats or caves - the access to the divine within has become more energetically accessible to all - the perfection and sense of completeness we desire and seek is in authentic reality the perfection and complete love that we already are
The answer is to love all you have been given from birth. Enter the world as a new person. Full of life and love. And realize the Rock and Roll hall of fame is a very expensive VFW hall.
Wow how many years ago was AMC showing "The Razor's Edge". I don't think AMC has shown a movie from pre-1950 outside the Wizard of Oz, It's A Wonderful Life, and Gone With the Wind in about 10-15 years. It was great during the last few years before AMC developed it's original programming to be able to alternate between the two channels (TCM) for a variety of older films. Now AMC's schedule is just repeated classics with nothing older beside the GodFather except when they have the John Wayne marathon. FX has actually stepped up it's game and starting airing Retro Fox films from the 20th Century Fox cataloque on early mornings.

I would also say PTSD/ War fatigue. (Think of later in the movie, "to know that one man gave up his life so you would go on living.")
It got is due as a movie. No one wants to actually listen. I try to be Larry a lot.

the first scene makes you wonder exactly what the defrocked priest did that made him want to get drunk. Superb acting on the part of the old guy
