  • The Sepdiurnal Virus is rapidly changing and the Red Moon Phenomenon now occurs every single night... In this playthrough I'll be spinning a wheel to determine the difficulty each day (aka viral mutation/evolution). Some days will be easy, others will be very hard! And each day there will be a horde night. How long can we last before we're overrun by the undead?!

    The Blade Traps - They are extended just over the zombie heads due to the stairs. You can push the stairs back a block or two and it would be in line with ttheir heads. I've run blade traps like that before. WOrks fine. Also, use electric fences in line with the traps at the top of the stairs after you extend them. Great vid as always Tem. In today's setup, they are literally just half a block under the trap in the game's eyes.

      @@mechanical_chaos The problem I think he's trying to avoid putting them inside the house is explosions and errant cop puke. Putting it outside before they get damaged prevents more dmg to the traps.

    You could put the blade traps on the inside opposite to where you had them on the outside. It’ll still look aesthetically pleasing and will still hit them on the head for those headshot days. All you’d need to do is open up three blocks of the ceiling and it’s wood anyway so easy-peasy.
    That’s what I’d do at least. 😊

    Great fight! That penetrator perk is well worth it, until Demos, then it gets interesting! Love the idea of the "hollow" wall, it will be interesting to see how the zombies react to that. 👍

    Because of the stairs the zombies aren't getting their heads at the proper height to be chopped until they are already past the blades. Just flip them to the interior wall and they should work fine.

    22:43 you can see the repair block went and ticked (highlighted yellow) to the steel above the fighting position. Pretty neat it’s helping out during horde night keep stuff tip top 😆

    Blade traps are not working all the time because of the stairs. You could place them an the inside of the base instead of the outside. Love this series.

    For the blades traps, the problem isn't the orientation, it's that the zombies' heads aren't coming into contact with the blades since they're coming from below This is clear since the blades are hitting some of the zombies, likely the taller ones.. If the blades were orientated off an arm, it wouldn't fix anything, in fact it might make the problem worse. I would either place the blades on either side of the doorway, thereby making them lower to the stairwell. Or place them in the same spot, but on the opposite side of the wall. It still won't hit spiders, but it should contact all walking zombies.

    The idea on the Double Plate block may work up until the ground, where I believe the zombies will just see it as a path to walk through. Maybe at the bottom of it, you can use some of the 4 grouped ramps, and just lightly nudge the zombies falling inside of your wall into the pit.

    Great series!! Loving every minute of it! Lot of fun!! At the 15:59 time mark, I strongly urge that you make a Steel ladder for the zeds to use. Between their flailing about, cop-puke and your bombs, all of that damage adds up to wrecked ladders early on if you use any of the weaker materials. Also, if they are trapped in the pit, that's fine, but they might just start undermining the building as a whole; we know how much these zeds love to dig. Anyroad, keep up the great work! Can't wait for the next video!

    For the plate double thing - do it on the side of the base, by the spot lights, and you will need double wide, maybe 3 blocks to full break pathing. You could also do the JaWoodle force field (a ramp plate filler upside down, and a road stripe).
    Power - You might want to start running traps on one bank and lights on another bank. Or at least consider it.
    Pit, since the 3 lanes are so close, you should do 2 plate blocks, like the beltway around the base, it will keep them separated but still have enough area so the falling zombies completely fit inside. and maybe a ramp plate filler over the top block so there is a "tip"

    If you go 2 repair blocks load them with different materials. E.g. one cobble and the other cement, that way they target and repair different blocks.

    If you shock falling Zs they glitch through blocks when they land. You had the same problem in your bedrock series. Also as already mentioned, blade trap position was fine, its the stairs messing it up :)

    I think the blade traps aren’t working because they are technically over the stairs and one block down therefore not hitting the zombies. I think that the block you are wanting to use for the walls would work great!

      Turns out, in that orientation, the zombies are moving too fast to reliably contact the blades. At least in my testing

    Take a layer off the ceiling just inside the zombie entrance. Then place the blade traps inside the base on the block three blocks above the powered door.
    Add a second repair block on the other side of the base and a third in the attic above the zombie entrance.
    And cool idea with the double plate blocks. Curious to see if it would work.

    Great performance and glad the base is working for you. A thought on your blade trap issue. Could you not put a horizontal 'arm' going straight out from the main wall, parallel to the travel of the zombies over the stairs and then put a trap upside down onto it so that it clips their heads as they reach the top of the stairs? Just a thought... really good series!

    I think if you just added a little bit of a landing at the top of the stairs so they are walking straight and not up as they move into the blade trap it would work!

    14:22 - also i think you should lower the bouderies of land claim block cuz it works also for Auto repair one. So it will repair blocks closer to the base
    EDIT: 15:02 - look on the right side near the wall, its reparing random block, worth to take that wall off completely and fix a pad a bit.

    If you had maybe 3 repair block, 1 doing concrete+cobble, 1 doing trap components, and one doing like wood and extra that way theres no overlap on repairs and spreads the workload

    As for the plan with the wall, it would become an improvised elevator if it didn't break their pathing. Worth it in my opinion. If they want to go that way, they can put themselves in a loop.

      I went through a savage country store the other day, collected over 1250 cloth from scrapped clothes. Also find army barracks a good place from all the bunk beds.(also good for scrap and springs) :)

    That's why I believe wandering hordes should have a screamer in them to make them more of a threat. I know if you get your heat map up they'll spawn in blah blah blah but I think in random words a screamer should spawn. And if you're in the wasteland biome or you're at a high enough game stage then there should be a possibility of getting one or two maybe even three screamers

      I would definitely welcome a vanilla setting to alter the threat of screamers. I love the screamer difficulty in Darkness Falls where you have to REALLY account for them

      Right. Screamers arent really a threat I mean they are but they're not I think it would be cool if they would turn the crawlers into screamers. Make those little bastards more of a threat instead of an annoyance that sneaks up on you and smacks you in the toe. Or have the chance that a random zombie could be a screamer not just the traditional screamer look but like I don't know one of the other lady zombies could potentially be a screamer or something now that would make it interesting

    The bladetraps arent really protected against damage or spit where you put them now... maybe push 1 bloc back and have a protection bloc on the same row in front somewhere.

    The original configuration for the Blade Traps would work if you moved all the stairs out one block The problem is they are running up the stairs and sometimes just missing the trap. Especially in the case of Steve Tom and Arlene. I think the double plate will work for blocking the path but it opens you up to Cops since anything less then a full block might as well be glass.

    I made a "floating" base once using the smallest corner cylinder block and rotating them so that 4 were butted up next to each other and the space between was 1.92m effectively, functionally the game sees it as supporting my base and the zombies see full blocks that they suddenly fall through, if you leave those quarter walls next to your blade traps the zombies will attempt to walk on them and break through your weaker walls

    If you have it on 300% loot and you loot the Savage Country that's by the lake and the river bridge you can scrap around 3,000 cloth from that one. It takes an entire day but then you don't need cloth for a long time.

    21:21 the trap is working if slightly there are a few there with your camman where the blood splat was showing but i think its because zombies are moving through that small space quickly enough its only giving one in x amounts as actual hits.

    Why not just put the stair-top blade traps on the inside of the doorway (above the pole) instead of outside (above the stairs)? That way they'd be chopping heads instead of just barely missing them due to the stairway angles putting the zombies just out of range. That said, gotta love the undead shenanigans in this one. Recreating the Monty Python Black Knight, trying to grab ya through the wall even after being killed again, ninja bird popping outta nowhere and sitting on nothing like "Hi, I'm here, end me please."

      I've thought about it. I played it for about 20 hours and while I find the game to be enjoyable, I don't think it makes for very exciting/entertaining youtube content. The pace is VERY slow and with my editing style the videos would end up being very short with very long recording times. Kind of like Ark, where I could record for 10 hours and get a 25 minute video. Just not a very efficient use of time.

    Oh and why not make more concrete that way you can make the hole base concrete but like I sed it’s your game and how well is that fixing block will it a lot to long to fix everything does it have the same range as a claim block or bigger or smaller? And if you have two will they work together or will one not work ?

    I think you where standing when digging out your pit and your head lamp is on as well that is why the screamer seen you if you Crouch and do the same thing you can hear that thing before she see you and you can kill it but that’s in vanilla alpha 22.b or is it 21.b still I haven’t played in 3 weeks so idk 🤷‍♂️

    I'm an experienced vanilla player starting a Darkness Falls playthrough for the first time, however I don't know what POIs are good for a horde base and would like some overall advice for the mod, could someone help?

    I really wish and hope TFP improves the gun sounds and animations. Guns firing sounds never gives me that *ohhhh yeah feeling*. While all animations look like it's from the previous past generations.

    Move the blade traps inside, above the doors. Problem solved

      After some testing, the blades will not make contact with zombies when they're spinning perpendicular to zombie pathing, at least not on sprint/nightmare speed.

      @@GunsNerdsandSteel interesting, up untill alpha 20 I was using blade traps the same way and it was working for sprint speed zombs. Maybe it was patched at some point.

    yeap hundred% agree whit it the ducktape amount you need to craft is reticules on top of that the water you use and glue is even more reticules .
    i hope thy change it in 22 , love it all as always Tem

    Instead of the plate double go with a cat walk the double will break just like your wooden doors you had they will clip on to the side of it if you can walk on it so can they basically if you can do it so can the zombies us the cat walk you can make a floating wall they can’t hit you can make the walls in to two more paths you can use to kill them or them killing you but it can stop your base from collapsing on you I was thinking do the same thing as your Stairs the reinforcement you used on the you can do the same thing do the inter Indian outer part it will do the same thing as your double piece but will be some what stronger then one piece that’s acting like one

    The blade traps at the top of the stairs; this is a great idea and they are positioned perfectly. What you need is a flat platform at the top of the stairs in front of the entrance. That way, the blades will hit the zeds. Right now, it looks as though most of the zeds are literally walking under the blades and onto the path on the steel doors, so they are NOT getting hit.
