You should visit a pharmacy....I've herd you can get anything without a prescription......guy broke his leg and wanted ibuprofen....they misunderstood and brought out iv morphine and a syringes....lol

Thanks it was along ride( very long as I went 10 km past it). It was a mad house. Very strange as I think it's 24hrs and they could have restocked when it wasn't busy. New place maybe still working it out.
More interesting 7-11 but isn’t any cheaper than the one in the states
7-11’s aren’t as popular in the USA because there are so many other, and better, 7-11 like stores with better and more options.
It must have been a training day so many staff.
Hi Jeremy and Claire , hope things are going well , what a surprise to see 7-Eleven suddenly appear within the Kingdom , having been born on July 11th , I carry a small feeling of affection for the franchise , back in the day , one could receive a complementary Big Gulp of their choosing , by simply producing their ID , showing they were born on July 11th , now days , at least here in the States , 7-Eleven celebrates the day with a free Big Gulp for anyone visiting one of their stores on that day , it appears you may have visited while training was still taking place , there did seem to be an exceptional amount of employees scattered about , for me , this opening comes as a reminder that Cambodia is ever changing , and that a movement towards development and modernization is unfolding daily right before our eyes , employment is so sorely needed for the younger Khmer generation coming of age , any progress made towards that goal , is a positive step forward in my humble opinion , and besides , who doesn't like an icy cold Big Gulp , on a sweltering hot day , combined with a quickly microwaved Ham & Cheese Sandwich , and you're back on the road in no time , really nice review , look forward to your next adventure , stay safe , take care , and as always , Peace ... 7-11 will do well along the highway but I'm unsure if there will be as many as Thailand it Taiwan. I do think Taiwan has some of the best stores.
That's hilarious! We grew up completely unaware of the existence of 7-Eleven. My birthday is 24-7, and I have a very good friend who can never remember whether my birthday is all day every day, or 7-Eleven. She always remembers it's one of the two though. Yes development is happening at breakneck pace here in Phnom Penh, and you're right - a 7-Eleven provides many jobs for young ones and all of the staff Jeremy encountered could speak some English, so it's a great opportunity to put that to good use while they are studying. Nothing like the welcome blast of air conditioning that you get from a 7-Eleven, and I have been known to open the door of a freezer to get a hit of even colder air. When we rode around Taiwan, 7-Elevens saved our lives many times as we desperately needed to get off the bike and have a quick coffee before getting back on the road. Thank you very much for the wishes of the season. We hope you have the opportunity to spend it with those near and dear, and maybe you might even be able to pop out for a celebratory Big Gulp! This is maybe a sign of the development of the Kingdom but for me this is not entirely positive. I enjoy the lack of chain stores in Cambodia, and the contribution this makes to the vibe of the country. I suspect that the majority of such stores are foreign (Chinese?) owned. I hope this does not overwhelm the local independent stores, and result in the increasing extraction of franchise fees from the country at the expense of local independent businesses.
I don’t think it’s highly likely that Chinese owns the store. Mostly there are many rich Cambodian businesspeople bought the franchise and run their businesses in the country.
I'm unsure who owns them could be anyone. It's will be very interesting to see what happens. Small shops do well here as they are cheap as they are usually family run. I think 7/11 will have their own market but not take over. Any business that pays tax , employs young people and trains them is good for a Country. As we saw in Thailand, small locally run businesses survived where chains died. Let's just hope things improve and people have a opportunity to get work.
We are hopeful that it should a win win situation for everyone.

Have you lost your mind??? The "main event" in the 7-11 is the beer cooler!!! Whenever I land in Thailand I stop at the 7-11 near the airport so I can buy a bottle opener for the beer bottle...always leave it in the last hotel before getting on the plane to avoid problems with security....thanks for the video

I have eaten so many hot dogs in the early hours in Thailand, or in the late morning. Also regularly visited Smile shops in PP a LOT. Loved Smile. We found some that had seats outside and you could buy dirt cheap beer and drink it watching the world go by. Until nature called...
We have never had the hotdogs, I definitely have to go back for round 2. We have also had a few beers outside a Smile mart, and they are usually very friendly.
You know what - if they open up a few of these along some of the more common long distance bus stops across the country they will do very well. By the looks of things too they employ 3 staff per customer!

Maybe along the highway but unsure how they would go in local areas. Mom and Pop stores and food delivery are actually cheaper than 7-11.

7-11 in Cambodia should be similar if not the same as in Thailand since they are owned and operated by CP, the 7-11 franchisor in Thailand.
It's more that the local market is different in Cambodia compared to Thailand. The products and prices are the same, but the comparative difference is.... different.
Chiang mai has one on every block. Gross processed food. Only good for getting AC on a hot day and a cold drink.
Cold beer and a tostie is all you need sometimes, the aircon is a huge plus.
As a Cambodian myself I can confirm that the custard bun is one of a most bought food

You still need a PCR test to fly but only a rapid on arrival as far as I know.

The thing with chain places everything is always the same ( mostly). A ham cheese toastie, a custard rabbit and can of coffee is the breakfast of champions.

Thanks for the 7/11 Khmer Mukbang! Apparently the parent master franchise holder (CP Group Thailand) has plans for many more franchises in Cambodia and also Laos. Just hope local mom n pop shops can retain their niche too. Would be interesting to also see beer prices in next update. Cheers
We hope so too! 7-Eleven has its place in life, that's for sure, but we'd hate to see the little stores suffering. I can't see them taking over like they have in Thailand unless one of the petrol chains gets in on the act.
It's up to us tourists to ensure that we frequent mom and pop stores to keep them in business

We loved 7-11s in Thailand, as you always know what you are going to get. Taiwan has a lot as well and are better than Thailand. Unsure if they will be everywhere as they are more expensive than other small stores, and with the ease of Food delivery it might slow them down. Anyway have a great holiday season and stay safe.

the CP burger was around 20 to 30 baht when i bought it at 7 eleven in bangkok. i guess the import tax is high
The normal one is around $1.40 I think. The problem is that they can't order in bulk as there are only two stores in PP at the moment. Plus as it's new and really far out they are wasting a lot of stock.
That's the problem, price. Smaller shops can under cut them easily.

I could only do the one eye Mark Wiens eye roll, my right eye was very sore. It's a easy ride( if you follow the map and not ride 13km past it). Plus they pay tax, not like all the smaller stores. Hopefully there will be enough business for everyone to survive.

Prepared foods are one thing missing in Cambodia. Now they are in 711. Hopefully they can keep the prices on the items and be polite when you check out. In Circle K, I had some very bad experiences in Cambodia.
The Aeon MaxValu Express stores are great - they have lots of prepared meals and usually an a bench with power points where you can sit to eat. The air-con, selection of cool drinks and power points have saved many a hot and tired person, I would say.
I never been, but Philippines 7 11 is just the same. Soft serve ice cream is 15 peso or 30c us
Never been to the Philippines, that's next on our to visit list, the list is long. But we have been to 7/11s in Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and now Cambodia, with Taiwan leading so far. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I'm not a fan of 7 Eleven, but glad to see the store is hiring a lot of locals to work there. Lol..in the 🇺🇸 you probably see one or two employees working. Creating job opportunities are important.
That's very true, and being open 24/7 means a lot of employees. Same in Australia that mostly there's only one person working in those stores.

You showed everything EXCEPT the drink dispensers! That's the part I was waiting for. Just dreaming. Do they have a Thai Milk Tea dispenser? I'm in Siem Reap so it doesn't really matter. Just craving something simple. What I wouldn't give to be able to order Thai Milk Tea in Khmer OR English and get what I wanted in less than 5 minutes of attempts. I don't think I've ever been given the Khmer words or pronunciation the same way twice here. When I was teaching at a University in Thailand, I'd usually stop at a 7-11 to pick up Thai Milk Tea and something with shrimp. Oh, Well. Hopefully, my "short stay in Siem Reap to go to the airport for a departure flight" back to Laos more than a year and a half ago will end soon and I'll be back in a Thai Milk Tea happy place.
There was so many people around it was insane, got a little cramped. I missed the frozen section as well. But I will do a follow up video if people want it.

The 7/11 logo in the USA is " Oh Thank Heaven For 7/11". You know they are the first convience store in the world, started selling milk and ice in Dallas like in 1930's
No you are 100% wrong. 7-eleven in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia are owned by CP Group (Thailand) which is the parent company of 7elevens in these countries. Also, 7 eleven in Dallas is owned by a Japanese company.

CP Group Thailand bought perpetual franchise from Japanese 7&i holdings and now they run 7 elevens in these countries on their own terms. They decide what to do with their 7 elevens, no need permission from 7 eleven (brand) headquarters.

Are they only common in some parts of the US? We have them in Australia but I wouldn't say they are common. Also, they are not cheap back home.

Sorry no, I didn't see any but it was a mad house in there. I couldn't get down isle ways, staff everywhere and stock on the floor. Just back from a morning wander and can confirm salt and vinegar pringles are present in Super Duper supermarket in Russian Market! $2.24 a can.

Mmmmm, I wouldn't say revolting (except for the over cooked bun). It's a comfort and convenience food situation. If I was traveling and wanted to grab something quick and get back on the road 7/11 is perfect. I would go there for dinner but it is great for a quick snack and you always know a ham and cheese toastie is available.

There's is something special about visiting 7-11 and simular conviece stores overseas. I always love visiting them too see what's on offer.
Yes we love them too! It's fun to look around and see what they have that you can't get elsewhere. The snacks are the best!

Plenty of junk food in the Kingdom before 7-Eleven, but yes, this kind of thing is a first.

Some good, some not so good! Toastie and burger good, porky bun bad.
I would prefer Tela Mart and Aeon Max Valu more than this. Those two, one is local and one is Japanese owned.
I love Aeon Max Valu, particularly the bakery treats - so good!

Are you trying to shorten your life Jeremy. The stuff you got is full of sugar and highly processed carbs all of which will turn to fat in your body.
The stuff in 7/11 will ruin the excellent Cambodian diet for the people who frequent this store.
Once in awhile is all good, everything in moderation.
@@ForRiel don’t mind me, as a person who has done a ton of research into diet from doctors who now understand the science of eating has been wrong for 60 years and has caused the epidemics of obesity and diabetes we have today , I’m on a bit of a mission when I get the chance.

I think so, but not as many of the services. Nowhere near as good as a Taiwanese 7-Eleven. Those places are amazing.
