This was brilliant Greg. I have been struggling with this programme for some weeks. looking at lots of videos. You were the first that explained the basics for dummies. I now know the basics and what each section is for. I am 77 years old have been writing for 70 years and try to use every new tech that comes along. I must say this programme is not user friendly but you helped me crack it. .
Well done. Thank you for not rushing through the demonstration. Thank you for speaking clearly and using a dark screen that is easier to follow the curser. Best of 5 videos on this topic.
This was a fantastic demo. I've had Scrivener for a while now and never used it because I couldn't wrap my head around it. You've solved all of my problems by posting this video. Many thanks!
Greg, this video was the best tutorial I have yet viewed. Much easier for me to assimilate and understand than even Scrivener's tutorial. I was eager to get to the end of the video so I could tell you how much I liked it. I'm writing nonfiction, but I can see what applies--which is almost all of it. Thank you!🤩
Without this tutorial, I never would have figured Scrivener out. It's taken me so long to get started, and then I found your tutorial. You made it simple and so easy to follow. Thank you so so so much. You are a gift to Scrivener users that are beginners! Thank you a million times over!
Hello Greg. Just in trial mode w Scrivener and was overwhelmed. (I am 78 yrs old but operated my own law practice for 20 years with no receptionist and no secretary, so am fairly program & computer literate). As others have said, you speak at a pace which a newbie can keep up. So important. Also, the pace at which you moved around the Scrivener layout, and its many tools, was appreciated. I could keep up, mostly. I leave your video with confidence that I will be fine with Scrivener. If I get stuck, I can always add a comment here about what I'd like you to explain. All the best from Nova Scotia, Canada.
This is terrific! I was able to follow you and rewind where I needed to, especially to hone in on specific areas that I really wanted to concentrate on. Really well done, thank you so much!
THANK YOU . Thank you for your overview of Scrivener. New to writing and Scrivener3 and just finished Tutorial, on to further... just beginning corkboards, et al. Your work and sharing much appreciated. Thank you.
Thank Greg for this video it's very helpful for the new writers. I like your demonstration about using a dark screen that is better for the eyes and can see easily the course.
Hi Greg! I just completed your You Tube On Screen Demo! It was very helpful to me as a beginner. I am not as terrified of using scrivener after watching your demo. Thank you for make it simple for me.
Hi Greg. Thank you for your time and consideration. I really appreciate you helping us get the words out using Scrivener. I will watch your, Outline A Novel episode, next.
Hi Greg. Thank you so much! I'm sending back my Scrivener for Dummies book I just purchased. This is an excellent video, and I will be watching it again, I'm sure. Along with your other videos!
Best basic tutorial on Scrivener …. So well done on setting up your template! Paced so you can follow easily, thorough video. I watched dozens, you are the best. Thank you,
Hi Greg, I attended your you-tube class minutes ago, and your teaching on 'Uses of Scrivener for the beginners' was highly beneficial to me. The systematic, clarity, consistence of your presentation along with the patience with which you explained each aspect you thought, was the uniqueness of your style. I would be an ingrate not to confess to the value your teaching has added to me today, and to my confidence you have boosted. I sincerely appreciate your timely investments in sharing your knowledge and experience on Scrivener software with us all. May the good Lord strengthen & bless you always.
This tutorial was really helpful. I found the outliner great, I use the story grid to self edit my books and I wont’t be needing to put the information in a excel spreadsheet in the future. Thanks a lot!
Thank you sir. You managed to explain the various functions in a very simple and straightforward manner unlike so many other introductory lessons I have watched.
This was so helpful! I have used this software for a little while but was too timid to play with it. now that I have a better understanding, I feel pretty confident to play a little more. thanks Greg.
Thank you Greg, this was so helpful I will look at this again and again. Your instructions are the best I have seen and I have looked at a lot of them. You're the best !
Excellent primer for getting me started using Scrivener. Greg, I really found your tutorial useful, thank you! BTW, your voice is soothing to listen to, made this especially helpful.
A very good video. It is explained calmly and understandably and motivates to work with Scrivener. Especially if English is not the native language, the clear pronunciation helps to focus on the content.
Thank you so much, Greg. I had learned Scrivener six months ago but then turned to other projects. When I picked it up again, I felt lost. Your video was a much better reintroduction to the program than the Scrivener videos because of your moderate pacing and clear explanations.
That was a nice helpful on-screen demo. I downloaded the free trial 2 days ago and I am finding my way through it bit by bit, so seeing your demo really helped with my needs for "basics for dummies" haha!
Nice and clear and slow. I have been trying to find someone who can explain it in a real human way. I would love it if you could do a demo of adding a book that is already written. How to add the chapters etc.
What a difference it makes when a storyteller gives directions. Tried to watch other UA-camr’s videos on Scivener and got nowhere. I’m ready to begin writing now without having to go through the baked in tutorial. Thank you sir. Liked and subscribed.
Why didn't I find this sooner! I support all the other comments praising you for your clear explanation on setting up a project in Scrivener. Very useful. I would appreciate your advice on changing the text in Scene 1, scene 2, etc to something like Beginning, story moves to Chicago for example. My understanding is that everything above 'Characters' will be compiled! How will these headings be translated once compiled? I'm going to subscribe to your video's and hopefully learn a lot more about Scriverner...
Excellent presentation. Personally, the dark mode made it harder to see and not as exciting, but I understand, personal preference is important. Well done.
Thank you, that was so informative. I've done the interactive tutorial twice now and I was just starting to make some sense of it all. However, after watching your video I have a much better understanding of Scrivener overall. Very grateful for your help.
Thanks for the tutorial. Am wondering if you have a Schrivener 101 for Screenplay writing. I've used it for a short while and seem to struggle with things.
A perfect tutorial and good that you tell how to use those things you dont use, before you throw them in trash can. So the tutorial can work for all :-D
Scrivener isn't really complex when you have learnt all the basics. One of my favourite features is the 'Scrivener Link' function. You would organise all your plots, payoffs etc with that.
I actually really love the note function in the chapter/scene location for jotting down things I may need to research better or make a note of specific names or locations that I mention. So glad you mentioned info about the outline section, I don't use that much, but so handy to see that I can make the info more specifics to my needs!
Dear Greg, your tutorial was great. However, as I see, most of the scrivener tutorials are addressed to fiction writers, and just a very few explain features for academic writing, like how to insert, edit, extend footnotes, how to create a bibliography, and edit it in a certain order, ABC, chronological order. I am wondering if one has to do it manually, or if Scrivener helps with some shortcuts. Would be wonderful to have your tutorial about academic writing tools.

You are one of the first that really takes your time to show people in an "able follow along pace" What a treat. Teach me more. Thank you very much.
Putting things into the colors labels make me really organized, i luuuv it.
Well done. Thank you for not rushing through the demonstration. Thank you for speaking clearly and using a dark screen that is easier to follow the curser. Best of 5 videos on this topic.
thankyou greg. im learning scrivener now. your video was very helpful.

It took me a while to give Scrivener a try, but once I did I was hooked. Well worth the modest price.

Thank you. Best explanation ever.

Just purchased Scrivener. Your tutorial is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you.
