I have set up Scrivener 3 for Mac so that I have a custom format, which makes me feel more creative while writing. After all, formatting for final products occurs in the Compile feature anyway, so why not use a creative font during the writing process? Just type a sample paragraph in the format style you want, then select Format>Make Formatting Default.
Thanks for this tutorial. I am about to pull the trigger and buy it. One question though, you made the comment to leave your work in Scrivener for as long as possible. Can you clarify? Do you do all you work until it's ready for submission and then export to your computer in word or something? Is this something i purchase through Apple apps on my computer or do i have to download it from somewhere?
The Mac version has been out longer, so historically the PC version has been behind in features. But Scrivener 3 for PC is going to bring it in line with the Mac version! So moving forward, there should be no more discrepancy. :)
What do you use for bibliographical citations? Do you use EndNote? I check the Grammar of Scrivener projects using ProWritingAid. Grammarly does not work on long documents like theses, books unlike ProWritingAid.
The easiest of questions, but I CANNOT find an answer! I stared my project using corkboard. I put the title of the card, the synopses and then went to split screen to actually put in the text for that card. Did about 15 cards, believing the text would stay with the specific card. But, it did not! As I moved then from one card to the next, the card stayed the same, but the text did not follow each card. The next day I could find the synopsis in the Editor, but not the card or the synopsis. Tutorials, LL, no help. Nothing an UA-cam or web searches. Is there a COMPREHENSIVE book out there? Thanks.
I have tried to set my corkboard up so that I can view my cards as a timeline. However, I cannot find the same function you used to create a line between cards for the visual effect of the actual timeline. My footer does not seem to have the access that you used for this feature. Any reason for this? How do I get this?
You first have to make labels with names and colours for the POV [ or whatever ] then when you use the feature the colours show up and you can drag them to the time line
just use the interactive tutorial to learn the basics and even advanced features of Scrivener; use also the video tutorial. It becomes easy with patience...
