i have the henry 44 mag version. AWESOME gun. my nephew calls it my "fireball gun" lol. using the push-pull method like you are showing is how you shoot it, keep it away from your face everyone! once you get the hold down it is accurate and VERY light to shoot. my henry is heavier so i'm sure that helps but i consider myself sensitive to recoil and i can shoot my 44 1-handed without issue.
Most noticeable in the video is the difference in the sound of the report, from the .38 to the .357. Would love to get my hands on one of those and explorer my inner Steve McQueen. :)
The mares leg is actually for up close. If you grip it a certain way and learn how to hip shoot....you can really empty that gun fast and still get the rounds on target. It does take practice though.
What's the quality of the Chiappa Mare's Leg compared to Henry? Chiappa has an 1892 Alaskan .44mag Mare's Leg in silver and black with full length butt stock which if Henry sold one it would already be mine. I just noticed it's TD which I'm assuming is takedown. I don't want a takedown. I'm 🇨🇦and the Mare's Leg is considered a rifle, so we can take them anywhere, put a full length stock, etc, etc. I have some .300gr hardcast .44mag that I'm going to use for supplemental Bear spray if that don't work. I wish Henry had a satin/black instead of brass.
I have a chiappa 92 El Dorado carbine. Thing is slicker and better looking than a pre '64 Winchester. Definitely a fine rifle. Bluing is nice, grain and finish of the stock is beautiful. Action is silky smooth. You get what you pay for. And you pay a lot for a chiappa.
Len M. Sorry I never responded I’m a trucker & we’ve been running hard... I love the Chiappa’s & Henrys both. The Alaskan you mentioned I have as well (44m) I notice the barrel is much shorter in Canada... I really enjoy the takedowns for ckeaning especially I am picking up s few rifles tomorrow.. @sleevey yeah same here, I don't really need RPal but I'd like to get a NR pistol. I guess as you said this is as close to as you we are allowed. I'd like to get 44 magnum though.
So then why even get one? Just get Regular length lever action. Plus putting a longer stock makes it a sbr and illegal without a $200 tax stamp and waiting a year. Just get a rifle
I actually picked this up online Naturally, it had to be shipped to my local FFL I think the Chiappa Mare's Legs run close to a grand & the Rossi is sbout 600 This is not a takedown ... They are hard to come by here in the states From what I understand, the takedowns are more readily available in Canada Henry Repeating Arms in New Jersey makes some nice ones also. I don't know why, the say on their website that they are not for sale in California, but they are in fact sold here legally at many gun stores with the blessing of the DOJ
@@DronesRock Is this model a round barrel or an octagon barrel? It's hard for me to tell. I'm looking for one just like that with the round barrel. The problem I'm having is that the 9 inch ones currently on the Chiappa website have a tapered forend wood grip but I really want one like you have that's not tapered. Any suggestions on where to get one like yours?
@@DronesRock I see this thread was most active 4 years ago. 6 years ago I had been living in California for a couple of decades or more, Sacramento, and none of the gun shops around town could sell a Mare's Leg, due to jurisdiction laws. for practical use when space is limited or confining. a good defensive choice from inside a vehicle, a small room or walking down a hallway or stairs where a medium to long barreled weapon is a disadvantage.
I'll add my 2 cents too In Canada it's illegal to carry a handgun in the woods, but people still need firearms for protection against wild animals and many don't want to lug around a full sized long gun that they'll be carrying a lot more than shooting. So called "backpack" guns are super popular up here for that reason, shotguns with 8.5 inch barrels and takedown carbines are prime choices for the job and a mares leg that can fit on a leg holster fits the bill for some people :)
It's useless . Accuracy is terrible, as you can't get a good aim. For this function, you should use a pistol or revolver. Better would be to cut a 2-barreled 12-gauge shotgun.
I never thought in my life i would be able to watch the cutest rifle and the most badass moustache in the world in the same video
So John Bolton has a gun channel now

I just added the full stock to my .44 mares leg, its significantly better at shooting now.
Sanjay Chadha where did you get the full stock? Im looking for one
I ordered it direct from Henry, comes from a big boy. it was $99usd. comes with the brass trim and everything.
Hope you got your SBR tax stamp before you put that stock on it.
I didn't! What now?!
Sanjay Chadha dude you got a super illegal firearm on your hands don’t let anyone catch you with it owning an non stamped nfa item is a felony
Hey it’s John Bolton. A few years ago they couldnt give these things away for $400. Now they’re a thousand bux in any caliber
How much?
Sweet gun! I was going to buy their 12ga but not after the cell phone ticket on the ride home...
Tom Jones sorry Tom .. Take care of that ticket & get back to the range

I'd say around 2 1/2 feet

Wonderful firearm, of course in California that's a no no, otherwise way up there on my bucket list
Perfectly legal in Cali .... Los Angeles & I legally hav 10 variations .... Many gun stores are ignorant of the "single shot pistol" classification
