  • The Packers may not currently have a true, number one, alpha wide receiver - and that's absolutely not an issue for this offense and the way this team is currently designed. On today's show, Andy breaks down why the Packers are setup for success, despite not having a true #1 at WR. Don't miss it!

    I've said it all along. I'd rather have 5 Doubs than 1 Adams. The complexity of the offense and how to defend it is so hard. Five 500-700 yard WRs is better than two 1,000 yard WRs. Look at Dallas when Lamb wasn't effective, they were doomed. We have a legit 5 guys that can make plays, they all can be special. They are cheap and talented, nobody knows how this will work out, that's why it works. The defense doesn't know either. Who is getting the snaps, who is getting the opportunities, who will be the man? Who cares, just use them all and keep all of us guessing. Fantasy guys will hate it but the team will be better because of it. I don't care who it is or if there is one at all. Lets just let Lafleur and Love use em all, all the time. Love had 4,200 yards with nobody near 1,000 yards. I didn't even mention the TEs who are really special too. This offense should be a mystery and a joy to watch.

    Andy giving a sermon on a 100% pure dose of The Truth. FDA approved!
    All that evidence and even barely a mention on TEs and not even in the context of developing as a #1. Our 2 TEs have the ability to be top 10 TEs in this league, and some of those guys are #1 go to options for teams over the years.
    I think of this team as being 7 deep. No receiving crew is even remotely that deep. You can line up 5 of these guys, and teams will have to play soft zones out of fear of getting burned. You couple that with our run game and watch out. This offense is ready to eat.

    I agree 100% with u Andy, WE DONT NEED A #1 WR!!!! We have 5 WR that can have huge impacts for us, not to mention also having Kraft and musgrave. We have too many weapons at WR & TE for opposing defenses to try and stop all of them. The great thing also with have a plethora of weapons is that keeps opposing defenses on their toes and they don’t know which player is going to have a massive game. Matt Lafleur is gonna have. A lot of fun draw up plays for this offense

    Andy, you are 100% correct in my opinion. If Jordan runs Mat's offence they way it is designed and the OL keeps Jordan clean, the Packers will more often than not, score points AND control the tempo of the game. MLF calls it something like Available Pass Catchers. As allways great show Andy.

    Christian Watson scored 4 touchdowns in a span of 3 games. So did Dontayvion Wicks in a different span of 3 games. Jayden Reed led the team in receptions and receiving yards, but by just 5 catches and 119 yards over Romeo Doubs. Romeo Doubs tied Jayden Reed for the team lead in touchdowns and had his 1st career 100-yard game for the playoffs. Bo Melton had the 1st 100-yard game of anyone in 2023, in week 17 at Minnesota. Malik Heath caught a go-ahead TD pass with 2 minutes to go in a game, the only one to make that claim. For now, the expectation is the passing offense will continue to share the wealth, with the tight ends and running backs in the mix, too. What helps make that work is each receiver is an obviously deep corps brings something a little something different to the different, but at the same time, each can be asked to line up in any given spot to run any given route, and produce. Not necessarily having a go-to-guy free’s Jordan Love’s mind as well, allowing him to just “play the play,” as he says. He can go through his reads, let it play out, and find the open guy. He may have an inkling based on a particular matchup who’s about to get open, but he’s not forcing the ball to any 1 teammate due to preconceived notions. Those prospects become even more intriguing this year as both Jordan Love and his receivers build off of all the experience they gained as young players finding their way a year ago. As Jordan Love got started at QB1, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs were just in their 2nd seasons, with Bo Melton in that same draft class but getting his 1st NFL action. Meanwhile Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Malik Heath were all rookies. Nobody’s at ground zero anymore. The key for Matt Lafluer and his coaching staff is to maximize on that and keep pushing all the young talent to its limits. When the Packers made their late-season run last winter, all that youth wasn’t so young anymore, and the better they learned the playbook and its nuances, the better they connected with one another. As best they can, they’ve tried to pick up where they left off heading into the new 2024-25 NFL season. This summer and early fall will be a better gauge whether they succeeded in doing so, but getting there in good shape is the current goal. The combination of youth and injuries created so many opportunities at wide receiver last season the Packers ended Jordan Love’s 1st year without a true #1 wideout. So 1 question is if anyone will emerge as the go-to-guy. Another is if anyone actually needs to. Count Jordan Love and Matt Lafluer in the no-worries camp. After Tuesday’s QTA practice, they both indicated it doesn’t really matter to them as quarterback and play-caller, and they’re both much more focused on the sum of the whole at the position than any individual parts. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

    Not having a “number 1” in this offense is a nightmare for defensive coordinators. You have 4-5 receivers who could “WR1s” which means defensive coordinators can’t roll coverage to one specific receiver. I guess Watson would get it because of his talent.

  • @shawng4886
    @shawng4886 3 місяці тому +2

    Lol, a Ceedee Lamb trade would be an absolute joke. Watson, when healthy, is legitimately the most feared WR in football. He’s been the most double AND triple covered WR since he entered the league because of how dynamic he is and his speed for his size. Dude is comparable to Tyreek Hill in speed but he’s 6’4” and can go up and get the ball. That’s a DANGEROUS player right there! If he can hopefully and finally stay healthy, he opens our offense up SO much! And now we’ve got Jacobs, Lloyd AND Dillon that defenses have to account for.
    Absolute MASTERCLASS team building by Gute and Co over the past 3 off seasons.
    And not to mention our other slew of playmakers. This team as is, has Super Bowl all over them! This might be the most complete team in franchise history. They just need to put it all together and it’s an absolute dynasty!

    Dude, we should get Ayuik with Doubs and a 2nd pick, and even a 3rd round pick the following year. With Ayuik, Watson, Reed, Wicks, Melton, and both TE’s, we will cook and win a Super Bowl. I would take our next two first round picks and go get an Elite Left Tackle. Joe Alt for how many ever draft picks would be LEGIT TOP TIER MOVE. Imagine if they go Alt Jenkins Tom Morgan and Walker (At right tackle) is an Elite, Elite offensive line. Even with 2 starting rookies, 6’9 Alt and Morgan have 2 of the best shuttle scores of all time. We could use him. We would win a Super Bowl with both or one of those trades. You don’t even need draft picks the next year with those trades. Wicks is going to be a number 1 receiver, Watson is already a number 1 he just needs to stay on the field. Reed is an elite slot receiver. Ayuik is a number 1 receiver and is tougher than anyone we have. Plus SF would do that deal. The chargers would take 2 number 1 picks and maybe 2 - 3rd round picks for ALT!

    I think teams need a number 1 WR in order to leave another receiver open on the field. It's not a matter of scheming guys open, which any OC worth their salt can do. It's a matter of making DC's frustrated with the coverage situation. Having 4 WRs on the field who can all play ball isn't gonna stress DC's out. That's just a normal day for them.
    In the case of the Packers, I don't think they have a guy who will emerge as WR1. LaFleur will use all of the WRs in various ways which will prevent any of them from being the top guy, statistically. Also, none of them are elite. Christian Watson was supposed to be the guy but he's too injured and inconsistent (kind of like Jamison Wililams on the Lions).
    As a result, the Packers will be a top 10 offense, but not a top 5 offense. I don't think that this topic really matters as far as wins are concerned. I think the Packers are good enough on offense to win games. The real question marks are defense and special teams.
