    This scene always made me sad until I realized that Alba can pick where she travels so she can visit her daddy at anytime. So he’s never really gone.

    • @michael_sharples
      @michael_sharples 3 роки тому +48

      Only sometimes can she pick and I don't think you could create new meetings after death that he hadn't already experienced. However that's the part i find magical between him and Claire because he said he didn't want her to worry or wait for him so there could be other meetings like at the end of the film that he never told her about.

      @@michael_sharples wasn't that the depressing part? she never knows if he ever comes back after witnessing his death, the ending of the film gave her even more false hope. i remember reading that the ending of the book has her waiting until she is really old and he never comes back. all he wanted her was to move on but she never could. magical but kinda sad yeah?

    This is one of four movies in which Rachel McAdams stars as the love interest of a time traveler. The other ones are About Time (2013), in which she played the wife to Domhnall Gleeson's character, Midnight in Paris (2011), in which she played the fiancée of Owen Wilson's character, and Doctor Strange (2016), girlfriend of the title character. In none of the films does her character travel through time in any way.

    Why does everyone have to let you know how the book is different. "This is how it happened in the book" or "I wish it would have followed the book". We get it..you can read!! Almost any film adaptation of a book isnt like the book. This is done because certain things have to be translated differently to fit time constraints. So for the love of god...zip it!

      Because the director and writers not following the story and making their own interpretations of the story to fit "time constraints" intentions and motives of the characters are misconstrued. I've seen where people wrote that Henry seemed to be like a pedophile because situations were left out which explained certain scenes. This is why people continue to refer back to the book. Even key characters were taken out of the story that would explain much of Henry's character. This whole scene with his daughter is completely out of context because the teacher has to know about Alba's genetics since she could all of a sudden disappear in her classroom and Henry's time-traveling even though in real time he is dead. If Titanic could be 3 hours long, they could have added a few minutes here and there for a book that contained 546 pages.

      @@sweetpapillon7265 I get peoples frustrations but studios aren't worried about a small group of fans. They have to appeal to the masses. The film was probably greenlit and then studio said "uh yeah cut all this out here and here our innvestors don't agree with this and they are funding this thing" or "we gotta appeal this to everyone as people(not a person) aren't to bright and won't follow this story" or even " we need to put in a scene for advertising"
      Writers: "But taking these scenes out will ruin the movie"
      Studio: either that or scrap the whole thing
      It sucks but that's business

    I always wondered what Alba’s time limitations were. Until this scene Henry has only ever travelled to times when he was alive somewhere else at the same time, he was surprised that he could travel past his death. But Alba mentions Henry’s mother, her grandmother, who was long dead by the time she was born so clearly her parameters are bigger but how much bigger? Could she go to Ancient Rome? The future?
    Apparently there’s a sequel coming out about her life so hopefully I’ll finally get those answers. I read the book when I was like 14/15 and I’m 30 now 😂
