      RNG is terrible with villager, G&W, Peach, Hero etc. because it makes it too easy to kill super early and get an unfair lead, or in Hero’s case if you don’t get good RNG you can’t get a kill or recover.

      For me it's obvious, the *STUPID DLC!!!* This game had *SO MUCH POTENIAL* to become the greatest game ever. But after the DLC came and went, all that we got were *TOO MANY SWORDFIGHTERS!!!* I don't give a f(gituar feedback) what any of you will say!! Say what you want about me, but the fact we never had Crash, Rayman, Earthworm Jim, and *ESPECIALLY MORE SONIC CHARACTERS* was something that I'll never forgive Nintendo for now forever *RUINING THE GAME!!!*
      Go play Nick All-Stars 2 or get ready for the revival of Multiversus in May. Heck there's also Smash Remix which I'm *STILL WAITING* for Crash to arrive!! These game are now worth playing than this garbage that it *NOW STANDS!!!*

    The base input delay, bad netcode, limited online options, short-hop attack macro, and low endlag on moves in general are the things I hate the most.

    My top 5 would be
    1. Online: Dead horse lol
    2. Training Mode: Need a lot more options for the player to lab their combos efficiently. The Training Mode Mod for Ult is the gold standard
    3. Micro Spacing: Dash Dancing and Wave Dashing should both be a lot stronger/less lag
    4. Parry: Should reflect Projecties and or have more frames of advantage
    5. DI and Hitstun: Buff DI/SDI and Buff Hitstun

      No one could complain about training mode improvements. I feel like giving every character in the game a reflector would be dumb. Parry timing is not hard, especially if you're dealing with range. Plus projectiles aren't even that amazing in the first place. There's the extra advantage frames which makes sense (Rob nair should NOT be safe on parry) but that's more of a problem with aerials being way too safe. Like most tilt attacks would be punishable on parry without buff to advantage frames with the exception of something like sephiroth f tilt max spaced depending on matchup.
      Buffing hitting like making moves have more hitstun? If so, oh god please no. The game has too many cutscenes as is, and the meta is geared heavily towards advantage state. Why would you want to universally buff combos? Di/sdi could balance it out, but that would just polarise the roster even more. Precision characters like sheik, ZSS or joker (no arsene) would have to work even harder. Meanwhile the touch of death combos from character like kazuya or peach who don't have to worry about DI would have even more leniency with their combos.
      As for microspacing being better, this would be nice, but I don't see how it would be imemented well. It returns to aerials having no lag. Whiff punishing doesn't exist in this game because nothing has lag, which is why the reward for microspacing around hit boxes is way too low compared to the risk. As for spacing with tippers and such, yeah mart deserves a buff.

      ​@@flaminhotdumpster7411 I mean I think Melee has better mechanics than Ult so yes. It's like if a sequel to a spectacle fighter took out a cool mechanic or glitch, then of course I would want the mechanic I liked to be in the sequel.

    The only thing about ult mechanics wise that actually bugs me
    Short range movement options. We don't have perfect pivot or wavedashing. Give us a way to do moves out of dash state.

    Maybe a personal thing but I could do without the buffer system. I’d rather die because I suck than because an air dodge got queue when I tried to tech

      I agree. Just lower the window/have a toggle or option to change it, and completely remove the hold buffer. The hold buffer is God awful imo

    I hate the absolutely ABYSMAL replay system in this game. For some reason you cant do what you can do in literally every other switch game which is just HIT THE CLIP BUTTON ON YOUR CONTROLLER. In this game you have to save the replay, view the replay once to see where your clip is at in the game, you then have to watch the replay AGAIN while recording and press record right when your clip starts, end it, and then watch the rest of the replay. you then have to share it to nintendo online, get the nintendo online app on your phone, go into smash ultimate and your posts, watch the youtube video and screen record from your phone with all of the youtube UI in the way. On Xbox you press the clip button and then are automatically able to watch the clips from your phone and save the video if you want. couldve and should be done so much better in the next game.

      When I saw this the first time I thought that not being able to clip smash ultimate was due to some hardware restrictions.
      But there is a mod that literally just makes this work. It's sooo easy if you have a modded switch you just drag this file onto your sd card and it works perfectly fine.

    Don't think anyone's said it yet, but shield poking. It just doesn't make sense that blocking in this game can be ignored by some attacks that aren't going to break a shield. Shield beats attack, and loses to grab. It's a simple but powerful dynamic, but Smash has quite literally poked a hole in it. If a move is supposed to be dangerous to shield, make it do more shield damage. If not, it should get blocked, plain and simple.
    As for shield-shifting, just think to yourself how often top players (or any players really) even use it. If you're wrong about the direction, you'll get poked even earlier, and if you're right, slightly later. The effect is so minimal, and the risk-reward so slight that it hardly matters. I think it would be a cool mechanic if it were more useful, and it can even be used to dodge grabs in some cases. But using it for counter-play to shield-pokes is mostly useless and only really matters for some characters in the first place.
    In short, Yoshi shield = best shield

    What I don't like about Ultimate is that every character, with few exceptions, pretty much have the same game-plan against the entire roster. Up to Smash 4 it really felt that you needed very different strategies depending of the MU due to the physics. Here everything works against basically everyone.

      it really depends who you're talking about like yeah that's true for the top 10, but for my main pokemon trainer the gameplan is definatley not always the same.

      That's a really reductive comment tbh. "Everything works against basically everyone" is only true if you're playing against horrible opponents.
      Also, I'd argue that _having to play in a very specific way_ to beat certain characters (e.g. Kazuya, smash 4 bayo) is so much worse from both a player and spectator perspective.

      @@343Films It depends a lot on what character you are playing too. Some characters play samey vs most of the cast. Most don't though. I find the original comment very reductive and generally not true.

    I hope the next game has 2v2 matchmaking (over network, not local like we're currently limited to). Also, a way to have any music play on startup/in the menus would be nice

    I am not totally opposed at the moment to requesting more tools to edgeguarding, but I much prefer recoveries in Ultimate than in the previous games by far. I have nothing but hatred for the old days of Melee and Brawl where you can edgehog and let the opponent fall to their doom. I still think it's stupidly cheap when I tune into Melee tournies today (the rest of the gameplay is pretty cool not gonna lie).
    With Ultimate, I like that the opponent recovering is in the advantage and you have to be aggressive and creative in scoring the edgeguard lest they make it back with the magnet hands. For a platformer fighter, my recovery better get me back to the stage else unless I was hit with hard hitting move at a high percent or hit at an uncommonly low angle else what's the point of my recovery? My character can't work if I can't make it back to the stage in reasonable scenarios like the average castmember!
    Plus, Ultimate compensates stronger recoveries with ledge trapping being far more pronounced than the previous titles. Just because you made it to the ledge doesn't mean you're safe. You have to get back past your opponent to center stage. You can't run through the opponent due to bodyblocking (this is a really big deal) and you only have a few options to get past them else you'll get knocked right back off stage and risk getting edgeguarded or getting more percent racked up.
    This opens up a diversity of strategies and gameplans, do you go aggressive with edgeguarding, risking your own stock to take your opponents stock early or do you play the safe and consistent ledgetrapping game? As one of the Smash University coaches like to say, roll a pair of die for 6-7s with ledge trapping or go all in on edgeguarding for 12s at the risk of snake eyes showing up to take your stocks for your greed?
    In my low level play, I score edgeguards and get edgeguarded. In top tier tournament level play I see a healthy diversity of edgeguarding, ledgetrapping, and killing in neutral. I think, from a spectator's point of view, the flow of gameplay, from neutral, to advantage state, to forcing the opponent to recover, and then forcing the opponent to figure out how to break through a ledge trap back into neutral, is a nice rhythm for Smash gameplay. Some characters are good at edgeguarding, some are good at ledgetrapping and can't edgeguard for sticks, some are good at all the above, while others might be decent at both but might put themselves at risk getting reversaled or running into a technical execution flub and SD, losing their stock easy for trying to edgeguard. For a cast of some 90 characters, this is acceptable.

      You say you're a low level player, so please put in the time to keep getting better at ult and entering tournies, because if you have this level of thought at low level, you have a bright future in this game.

    one specific thing i hate so much is the fact that ledge get up attack can be inputed with B. I buffer it so much when i mash b to up b with wii fit and then i get punished for it. Why can u use get up attack with the special button WHYYYY

    I need the lag on air-dodges reduced please.
    As it is now, air-dodging is basically used for rexovery mix-ups and a lot of nothing else in most situations. Because Ultimate is so "wait intensive" it's a very poor panic/combo-breaking option that often leads to more damage and rarely protexts you, it also doesn't help that the buffer system means that if the game accidentally procs an air-dodge offstage you're probably not going to make it back.
    The large amount ot lag and lacking I-Frames also sucks for most characters but greatly benefits characters with amazing air-dodges. We all know that Sonic in particular has an egregious air-dodge that's so good it's basically a 3rd jump for him, but what really sucks about it is that most characters don't have that luxury.
    If air-dodges are basically gonna be glorified extra jumps then I'd rather we go back to Smash 4/Brawl air-dodges and just lower the I-Frames the more you use them or something. As they are now, they don't feel good to play with.

    As far as I know, this is the only Smash game with essentially no miniganes. It only has Mob Smash and HR Contest. It’s so limited that people made their own stages to compensate for it. Plus, I think we can all agree that Mob isn’t fun. I prefer BTT.

    I tend to agree with the recovery thing. But im also biased because A) I suck at edge guarding in general. B) I'm starting to play Bae Blades, and they have like... ZERO edge guarding outside of pyra down air. and if you use it below stage youre dead

    A lot of my gripes come from how frame data feels too lopsided. They really put DK side B in the same game as spindash and minecart and Rob nair and Minmin

    Airials being too difficult to punish just exposes characters with bad neutral. If you can’t approach, that character’s punish game needs to be crazy. Like if Ganondorf had more super armor

    Oh my god your bonus 6th point is so real LIKE I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME DASH SHIELD, I don't understand I feel like I dash then shield at least a whole half second before they're at me but shield doesn't come out and I get hit anyway
    Yet somehow whenever anyone else does it, it just works.

      I'm not sure if you understand the mechanics behind it, but the initial dash distance is character dependent and you can't shield until you're in the run animation. Hope that helps

      @@im_Spade_ yeah I mean I’ve studied it before and a lot of the time it ends up being certainly well passed the initial dash
      So it’s totally possible its just a skill issue but I could swear that I’m hitting the button well before I get hit
      And even if it was from initial dash, I think Lucina’s is 14 frames? I’ll feel like I’ve moved well passed those frames but shield doesn’t come out, but when I try it in practice by myself shield comes out way quicker
      So idk maybe my sense of frames are off or something and 14 frames is way longer than I think it is

      ​@@DJKrisyKrisdude maybe you're doing shield dash wrong. You have to press shield while still holding the stick to run, if you release the stick before pressing shield it takes way longer

    1. Don't like the parry perfect shielding I prefer the older one and if they do a new smash give us the choice between the parry and the old perfect shielding.
    2.The gsp system sucks rather have the for glory for fun settings of 4 but at least have a casual 1v1 mode instead of fighting for gsp and let us switch to other characters after the match
    3.Probably how they balanced the characters i know some say its balanced but trying to figure out who to nerf and buff
    4. More stage variety yeah we have fd and tri plats but add a few more if they don't like just fd and BF stages
    5. Not sure the buffer system I guess

    Here’s what I would want changed
    1 I want less input delay, pretty sure everyone does cuz it’s too much
    2 Make platforms easier to get off of honestly they’re a pain in this game especially online with the lag in elite smash matches
    3 Training mode still sucks and it’s nowhere near as good as Street Fighter 6 training mode to be honest
    4 I legit feel like dash shield should be better for all characters just like what you said at the end of the video, it’s crazy how bad Captain Falcon’s dash shield is or Little Mac’s dash shield. I don’t understand why they did this to some characters like seriously?
    5 Elite smash is a joke so they should work on an actual competitive ranking system where nobody can use a 3 minute timer and items to get GSP
    6 For the love of god let players choose stages besides battlefield and FD in elite smash, like they really limit us to 2 stages when a lot of other stages exist in tournaments

    I don't like how slow characters walk acceleration is. Ultimate feels like it's either dash or nothing. Dashing feels fine for the most part, walking feels so gross and sticky. I hate it. All the smash games before it don't have this issue.
    Same thing goes for the character select. Even without online, the curser feels so slow and sticky.
    I also really don't like how inconvenient changing settings is for a casual experience. I want to mess around with items and settings with my friends. Why do I have to back out through the slow as molasses menu just to edit some simple settings, save profile, reselect stage, reselect character before we can play again? And why the heck do i have to reselect my character after every match!? I hate this game menu so much.

    My 5 (not top 5, just interesting things I've noted recently).
    1. Online. There is no reason to use it unless you go to tournaments and are masochistic enough to feel ok feeling like shit using it. This game would probably have thrived even more during the early 2020s if online wasn't so bad.
    2. Parry: I was looking the fighting game glossary yesterday, the melee perfect shield reflected projectiles and removes the lag associated w/ a shield drop (18 frames). It doesn't need to be that busted, but reflecting could be nice, you could even have a system where projectiles are perfect-shielded and physical attacks are parried, could make for some interesting dynamics. Even making projectiles reflected on parry like the spirit does is good enough though.
    3. Nothing has lag: everything is game moves too fast for its own good. Cloud bair and gmw nair being fantastic examples.
    4. No new balance patch: obviously it needed it.
    5. training mode.

    6. The fact you can't set stage hazards fully. Like, you can set them per ruleset, but imagine if you had a playlist that kept the first part of reset bomb as a stage, that one mario kart stage that's effectively hollow bastion before hollow bastion but can't be turned off from making hazard, shout-out pjiggles for elaborating on that idea some years back.
    7. making clips. Should have just used an adobe or overwatch rip-off ui instead of the one they have for saving clips into videos.

    While people are here talking about stuff they don't like about Ultimate, I'd urge y'all to look at Rivals 2 👀
    If you can put up with the game being on an indie budget and having a smaller overall comprehensive feature set, you'll probably find that it fixes a lot of problems you have in Ultimate, or at least makes them not as big of a deal by having more options to work with

    i hate the short hop macro so much cuz i remember in smash 4 i could easily short hop aerial and now im so conditioned to use the macro i hate it

      Took me a few solid weeks of practice to get rid of that habit. I personally have both my left bumpers on jump, cause you can hit two jump buttons simultaneously to short hop, and it didn't take long to learn to play that way.

    1. The online format. Smash 4's For Fun/For Glory was perfect in my opinion.
    2. Character hate. Every character is hated for some dumb reason, to the point where people experience discrimination for the damn character they use.
    3. Disadvantage. This may just be me but I'm noticing there's a lot more characters who basically die in disadvantage, even if it was like one interaction.
    4. Lack of people who enjoy single player modes. I don't see a lot of people who pay attention to World of Light or Classic Mode. Seriously, sometimes Spirit Battles are fun to play too.
    5. The temporary nature of the fanbase. If we do get the next Smash, are we abandoning Ultimate like we did with Smash 4?

      I receive so much character hate for playing Shulk that I can't find lobbies or block or kicked. And since I'm known I have to constantly change my name. It's gotten to the point where if they see him on sight its a kick especially when it comes to team battles with Shulk/Aegis.

      @@nikkobird590 But that's the thing. It's Steven the best character in the game. I kind of see it and we all know why. Not saying they should be you already know the hate that character brings. Unlike a character like Shulk who the whole community can't seem to figure out how good he is. Some say he's high tier and some say he's top tier. But man the way he gets treated at least in my area for online. They act like he's the best character in the game. And these people will be playing toxic characters too! That's the funny part.

    i rather not have smash 6 like at all cause Kid Icarus uprising is so amazing that i would rather have sakurai revive other franchises or continue them cause they worked out so much better as a whole.

      @@espurrseyes42 Nintendo focuses on Japanese players first. So if fire emblem sells well in Japan, odds are fire emblem characters are gonna be put in smash. However, no more newcomers are happening, since the Sora Amiibo completes the smash bros amiibo line

      They were better across the board, but Ultimate being faster means you get reversaled more, and Ultimate has more that are just basically unchallengable; the amazing tethers, Steve, GnW, Pika, Sephiroth etc.

    Hurt box shifting is a big one for me. Too many characters become very hard to hit just for pressing a button.
    Slapping super armor or invincibility on poorly designed moves just so they aren’t trash. Kazuya is basically a sword character because all of his leg moves give him intangibility.
    The amount of smash attacks that are safe in shield. It’s counter intuitive that what should be high risk high reward options end up being safe on shield. Think GnW and Falcon’s up smash. It’s so stupid that those moves are that safe on shield.
    Fixing moves like multi hit aerials that rarely work. Moves like ZSS’ fair went through all of the patches without being fixed.
    Consistent balance philosophy. Using ZSS as an example again, it makes no sense to nerf her nair and upb while letting EWGF exist as it is. Same with mine cart. Some moves are so bloated and completely unfair, but then they prioritize nerfing moves that really didn’t need it. Then some moves or characters make it through all the patches with no nerfs like Pikachu, Rob, and GnW. More consistency would’ve been nice.

    How good recoveries got. If it were for me i'd delete all or at least 90% of mixups. Space animals side B = freefall. Green Missile = Freefall. You get the point and i'd nerf shit like K. Rool Up B, that croc is unedgeguard able
    How a lot of characters are way too faithful to source material like Kazuya or Steve but then there's Ganondorf
    How a lot of characters like all FGCs, Steve, MinMin feel like you're playing THEIR videogames instead of smash, with min min's controls or Kazuya's 700 moves. We are playing smash bros, not Arms or Tekken. but they also got the good things of smash gameplay like the Up B input. I'd love to see FGC mains be forced to do a button combo to recover rather than the easy AF stick up + button that Up B is. Everything in excess is bad, *including attention to detail*
    I fucking hate armor, i'd love for it to get tossed out, and crap like body armor or tough guy just sicken me. and then how crap like get up armor is literally being invinvible at your weakest state
    Character specific:
    How DI-able is Robin Side B, I hate being punished for landing the main column of my entire game becaue i land Robin Side B and then Marcina for example, Spams Up B till they get it or people with reflectors or counters just mash it, and eventually works and i literally get punished for landing my main trapping attack and wanting to follow up. Please make it multihit faster Nintendo!
    Chrom Up B should snap into ledge like Marcina Up B. It'd be balanced too because his recovery would remain bad, but not counter at edge and Chrom's cooked kind of bad. and there's absolutely no reason for it and Ike's for that matter to not be like that, to not snap ledge. Take a look at Mii Swordfighter's Stone Scabbard, that's how Ike and Chrom Up B should be

      I had to stop at nearly all recoveries. Because Sora actually does jump high in the KH games. Also, odds are Nomura wanted Sora to be faithful to KH when it comes to putting him in smash. Literally no other choice

      NASB 2 in my opinion does recoveries a lot better there are SIGNIFIGANTLY less nearly invincible recoveries it makes edgeguarding a lot less important due to so many having invincible recoveries

    I really hate the buffer it makes it harder to some inputs then it really should be. I'm not amazing by smash ultimate by any means but I know I'm not alone in thinking this. I really hate touch of death bs chars and that gimmick in general sucks, kazuya, steve and luigi are just so aids man. Online is bs but imo that's never gonna improve so why even complain nintendo only makes good online for games they actually support like mario kart 8. GSP sucks as a player who's not great at the game if you're low GSP it takes forever to fight someone only for them to leave after one game, it makes really annoying to play online with chars I don't know how to play. For good players it won't be a issue but man the system should've been better designed and people should be forced to stay for at least 2 games. Not being able to save replays is lame, i know they wanted you to use the replay system in the game but removing it for the games entirely when you can only save 30 sec clips at the longest makes no sense.

    I don't know about smash 4 online I only played it on 3ds but it wasn't great, being better or worse then ult online is debateable. However brawl's online was ass dude idk if you just used mods but it was awful ults online is def better then brawls.

    The thing I don't like about Smash Ultimate is that barely any characters are solo viable and the ones that ARE solo viable are too hard to play like Pikachu and Steve.
