They say that in the Army the coffees mighty fine, looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine. HOOAH!!
Give you a hundred and take back 99….
Who said that ?!?
That just gave me flash backs to basic training…thanks
HOOOAAAAHHH!!!
Is that even allowed in today's Army? Might hurt somebody's feelings. Like that poor little yellow bird.
I've been out since 2006, every time I see or hear a helicopter I sing "I hear the choopers hovering, they are hovering over head, they come to collect the wounded, they come to collect the dead, airborne rangers"
They come to get the wounded , but I hopped in instead. Bluuuee falconnnnnn
Ft Benning 1987, first time I heard that one.
Buddy's in a foxhole, hole in his head
Medic says he wounded, but I know that he's dead AIIIIIIIIRBOOOOOOOOOURNE "Die *stomp* Die *stomp, WHY WONT TOU DIE" RANGEEEEEERS LEAD THE WAY.
Man, that's was some motivating shit.
@@marcocallaway3958 😂😂
i joined in 2007 and thought i was the only one that did that lol
Cadence stopped being cool when they banned cursing. It’s all about feelings.
Its still fine
Went through in 14 and we still sang my girls a vegetable 😂
@@samm2091graduated basic in ‘23 and we had a ds that always did that one lol
Fuck thier feelings 😂
@@samm2091lol went through in 14 as well. We did that one but only when marching outside of earshot of anyone else.
Cadence is also about breathing and conditioning especially double times if u sing while running your obviously going to be in good shape.
Your obviously not going fast enough if you can chant a cadence
😅.
@@ColinScudder double time isn't meant to be fast
"Someone ain't gonna make it"
"The weak little heart can't take it" 😂😂❤💯
What is this cadence name please😭
Down by the river is the best
We would do that one every time someone fell out of the flight in front of us.
I'll never forget my Harmony Church days
"PICK UP YOUR WEAPON AND FOLLOW ME, I AM THE AIRBORNE INFANTRY "
I was at sand hill
Ft. Benning
A-2-2 Harmony Church 1982, my dumb 17 year old ass thought it was a good idea to start basic in GA in July
@@michiwonderoutdoors2282 I went to Benning July as well, also grew up in North central Florida so it wasn't much of a shock😂.
@@michiwonderoutdoors2282 I was in Harmony Church by the PX and the hill Dec 79 - Jan 80 Xmas was cold as hell
"C130 rollin down the strip" is by far my favorite...best treadmill music they make
Airborne ranger is a good one!
“Down by the river we took a little walk we ran into delta we kick we pushed them we threw them in the river”
Lol fr we always pick on different companies lmaooo
I was culinary and attached to infantry unit and my D.S. got us using a full metal jacket cadence. After we got back to our bunk and we had down time we had a good laugh.
I DONT KNOW WHAT I BEEN TOLD
ESKIMO PUSSY IS MIGHTY COLD
When did a culinary MOS and 11B have the same D.S.?
Cadence is awesome. Super motivating.
I was in the Air Force 1962 marching was a challenge but remember. I am 82 and remember. I like this thanks.
I remember the GOOD ones that you probably can’t call anymore….
I wish that all the ladies - were holes in the highway,.... 😮
Hurt feelioma is getting out of control in the Army. A cadence without cursing is not motivating.
Your momma, your daddy, your brother, your sister , the dog, the cat, the fish was home when you you left!

That was my Company back at Fort Huachuca during my AIT training!!! Beautiful base and I miss those views so much! Great Drill Sergeants and PT was always a great time there!
At fort Jackson Bravo was walking to chow by our company doing cadence and everytime they were talking shit.
We had to. It was only right.
Am from kenya how can I apply to join
@@edwinkoech9979 its possible to, i know that much. We had people from everywhere. Middle easterns, africans, south/central americans, asians. My only contribution to what you're looking for is to say that you CAN i just dont know how or the process
Contact the United States Embassy in Kenya!
It would've been nice for the Army to discuss Willie Duckworth. I understand that he originated cadence calls.
Yes. He did..

the army is truly a one big family.
now it's mixed with a bunch of weird ass soft people
New army versus old army. Who would win without technology? I foresee a lot of stress cards being pulled out 😂😂😂😂
Hmm… he’s not talking about the cadence calls I remember.
Saw an old lady walkin down the street
She had a ruck on her back, jungle boots on her feet...
Said "hey old lady where ya goin to?"
She said "US Army Ranger School!"
Said "hey old lady ain't you been told?
Ranger School's for the brave and the bold!"
She said "hey young man who ya talkin to?
I'm an instructor at the Ranger School!"
(etc) Not even an over the top one but funny as hell. And I'm with ya, brother - the old school Black Boot Army cadences are the best!
HOOAH, THAT'S MY DRILL SARN'T! CHIIEEEFTTEEENNNSSSS
I love the army but I’ve always hated cadence because people always mess up and the singing was so horrible every time that it was probably going too be good enough for me too visit the VA too get paid for life too recover from that
How can I join brim am from kenya age 21

11Bs just make fun of everyone and we don’t respect any drill sergeant unless they have a blue disk
Hooah, brother!
You uneducated POG. The purpose for cadence is to train the voice of the soldier to be able to YELL and be heard in an austere environment.
Quick question, how many beats per minute do you might you in America?
Quick Time (marching) = 120 steps/min, Double Time (running) = 180 steps/min.
Some of my favorites are the ones that pick on other units. “Down by the river” easily comes to mind.
Drill Sergeants are looking a little thick nowadays. 😂
Back when I served , I was PG ..I called cadence and we only did the tough ones, I was AIRBORNE, so we did a lot of AIRBORNE cadences, but hell we did every damn cadence you can think of ...
He doesn't mention all the unprintable jodys. 😆
I can proudly state, I was the first US Army Sergent to bring rap into Army cadence back in 1979 while stationed at Camp Red Cloud, Uijeongbu South Korea with the song Rapper's Delight.

I've done Army cadence and I've done Marine cadence. While the Marines are technically tighter, they tend to sound like they're programed. Army cadence is way more natural and way more organic. When a soldier sounds off, it sounds like he means it from his soul. Marines yell, soldiers sing.
Not saying either is right or wrong.
I wouldn't want to face either of them on the opposite side.

There's nothing like an Army Cadence!
It sticks with you, the rest of your life!... "Once a Soldier, always a Soldier"! ... Just plain and simple English. Better than the rest, stuff.
Our Army "Drill Sergeants" knew how to form "words", with their God given American mouth and could "communicate commands" just fine!
Our "Drill Sergeants" came across as killing machines that can "wage war" or talk, sing or "call Cadence" at the same time.
As an Army NCO? I've "marched" a few "formations" around, with a few "former marines" in them.
I had this one "lateral Soldier" (former marine) "Buck Sergeant", try and "teach me" how to "March Troops".
She was very respectful of my "duty position", all "spit and polish" about it. She was very "military".
When I asked her, "Why 99% of my formation, understood 100% of my commands, but she apparently did not"?...
She said, "That's not how the Marine Corps does it".
I was very respectful and "military" about it.
I told "Sergeant", (her), .. "You ain't in the Marine Corps. You're in the Army now".
She was always harping that she was a (former) "Sergeant of Marines".
I had Privates in my Platoon that could operate a PRC 17.
She didn't even know how to operate a SINCGARS or a PRC.
But she could "Call Cadence" without vowels!

I hope the new Army has some trans 🏳️⚧️ inclusive cadence. Because that’s important for our war fighting ability. 👍🏼
HAH. Our drill sgts didn't teach us a damn thing. Because all the FT Jackson kids who were there 2-3 weeks before the rest of us got taught everything. Then THEY were supposed to teach us. But that never happened. I literally didn't learn a SINGLE thing during basic, and just spent the ENTIRE time, every single day getting smoked. The only thing the Army gave me was a fucked up back, shoulders, and knees. When I got discharged I couldn't even put on my own clothes some days. And now, 7 months later I still have terrible range of motion. Can barely go up and down stairs. Ahhh. Fun. To top it off, because of my discharge I'm unable to get a new IT job which is what I've done for the last 10-15+ years professionally. Had I even known that was a thing before hand, I would've never joined in the first place. So, come next month I'm gonna be homeless. At least the Army prepared me for that lmao
While stationed at Campbell my platoon was out doing double time for PT.
We kept passing another small group of soldiers who where also running.
Our pace never changed, there's did.
After a few times of passing the other unit I got annoyed and called out "somebody ain't gonna make it, somebody just can't take it."
The leaders from the other group were pissed.
But I had my PL and PSG there with me and I got away with it.
I was an E-3 at the time.
Everyone in my platoon died laughing.
Waaaaahhh! PFC Gentry is being a big meanie, Drill Sarn't!.Make him be nice to us, waaaaahhh!"
“When we go downtown,
Don’t you kick my dog around.
My old dog--his name’s Blue.
Blue likes doing the boogaloo.
Poor old Blue he’s been fixed
Don’t stop him from getting it!”
I always loved marching to a cadence, however tedious it may have been back then. Been a long time and I haven’t forgotten my Drill Sergeants, SFC Melendy, and SFC Thompson! Or Mad Dog and Mad Mel as they told us! Damn good NCO’s!
My favorites: *Bodies Bodies Bodies
*blood on the risers
*Engineer corps drinking song
*Sally Cadence

A yellow bird. with a yellow bill. Was sitting on, my windowsill. I lured him in, with a piece of bread! and then I smashed his Ducking head. The moral of, the story is; you touch my bread, Your Ducking Dead! Still one of my favorites!
Had a drill sergeant in basic training, SFC Kornegay who would call cadence to songs while marching. One of his tunes was Elvis Presley's "Didja Ever" from GI Blues. He would sing and we would do the refrain. Made two mile marches almost pleasant.
What happens if you're the NCOIC leading the cadence, but you suddenly forget the lyrics? Then you'd have your men yelling out a bunch of silly mumbo-jumbo.
In French, they call something like that "chanter à yaourt," because it's like singing with a mouth full of yogurt.
Hey POG look out your window; here comes your daddy, your INFANTRY daddy.
#USArmy , To help with recruiting and retention: in modern American society bullying and picking on one another is inappropriate and in many situations illegal immoral behavior. Picking on people is now Unethical behavior. The citizens see how rough and unhappy veterans are. They don't want a family that abuses. You don't need shame, belittling, or abuse to create warriors.
The older people have many excuses to keep the old ways. The fact is citizens don't want to be a part of an organization that still considers human beings property. I know we were drilled to believe we were property. It's highly inappropriate and unethical behavior by American standards, with all due respect , Drill Sergeants.

I wish we had that in Germany. We either call links-zwo-drei-vier which translates to left-two-three-four or we just don't call. I've been in units where marching in formation was just a complete shitshow.
That's not how it came to be. Blacks in the segregated Army invented cadence calling. Whites just marched by there white Drill Sargents.
One cadence that we had when I served...
"P***y ain't nothing but meat on the bone. Fo' 25 dollars, you can take it home!"
See the lady in the black

I remember when an Armor Bn was doing and run led by the BC. When they run through Engineer Bn area. The BC strated chanting Engineers, Engineers. As soon as the were Engineers were smiling, the BC said "Are Shit, Are Shit". The Engineers were pissed😅
I am a US Army veteran and I understand this very well! And I was in in the the early 1980s.

I love the Charlie Cong ones we sang.
taking jabs at other units cadence be like "god damn I'm glad yall set it off! used to be hard now, you just wet and soft!"
What is the point of formation marching today? It was useful back when battles were in lines and blocks and the marching was good for formation transition and moving from a march to a battle formation. We don't fight that way anymore.
If your Drill doesnt have a blue ring. He gonna teach you a lot of nothing. You joined the wrong MOS
