I have a handmade chess set with Backgammon on the other side of it, and I just learned how to play backgammon because I'm curious and have never played it until very recently, it's actually so fun that I have been playing it more than Chess. Thank you for the video. I'm taking in a lot of videos on Backgammon, it's so fun I can't stop!!
Thank you, Mochy! I found this video very useful. I watched it and followed along on my own board in front of me so now I will roll the dice and see if I retained the knowledge 😊
I've heard your name mentioned on lots of backgammon channels, but this is the first time I've ever heard you speak. I think this was a great presentation. very clear, quick and no time wasted. I especially like that you use a real board, and not a computer screen. a lot of people are asking you for advice on 2nd turn follow up moves, and i agree. would really like to hear you talk about it. for example, I get second roll. both opponent's back men are unmoved. I am forced to choose between slotting either their 5 or 7 point. which is the best choice? as a new sub, I'm looking forward to more vids from you. best wishes!
Interesting, thanks. About a year ago, I saw a Galaxy video on the opening 6-4. The guest said to make the 2 point every time. He said that this move used to get you laughed out of the building, but now it's been proven wise -- according to him.
Mochi-san, on 51 what about running out to whites 7 point ? I have 2 reasons (cash game), 1) opponent can not hit and point,(except 61 {17-1, against}) & 2) I often seek contact as I outplay, so far, my opponents. A big part of my cash game is based on gammons. Excellent vidio.
Yeah, if I do it I try to shorten and simplify but I think it is going to be 10min x 3 videos min - response moves are 21 times(!) more than opening moves...
@ryan luna you can't have a double to play on the first move because to decide who plays the first move, each player rolls a single dice and the player with the highest number plays first using the two numbers rolled. If both players roll the same number, the dice are rolled again until they roll different numbers.
@@misterjrome yes I know, that's why I said "doubles on your first move" if you're the player going second....I didn't say what about doubles on the opening play of the game
Thank you very much for this video. It is very pleasant to follow and very clear. By the way, the backgammon set shown in the video is really beautiful. May I ask you what company made it? Which brand is it? Thank you so much. I am looking forward to watching more videos from you.
I do not really like the 51 slot as the 5 does not give an extra builder. Furthermore missing the 32 and 43 other split moves as you play one split and one reverse split. So the opposite moves were not discussed. Also missing (aside of 51 slot) is the 62slot which is also interesting. Finally missing is 63 run which compared with some other moves is equally not bad.
Thanks for the tutorial. What do you think the best online BG site to play on is? Also what do you think of extreme gammon as a software tutor? Cheers.
Aloha from Maui! Mahalo (Thank You) for your videos. You have a very clear way to easily understand the moves. If you and your family are coming to Maui, please let me know. I have a great place where you can stay! We can trade for a lesson or two
Thank you for watching B.T. You don't start with the doublet, but if you do, 11 is make the 5p and the7p, 22 is make the 4p and the 11p, 33 is make the 5p and the 3p (or the 21p and the 10p), 44 is make the 20p and the 9p, 55 is make the 3p (13/3 twice), 66 is make the 18p and the 7p. You can use this knowledge for the 2nd roll as well, though not always.
I always play 41 like this, the only problem is when you're double hit, but it duplicates 4's. It's much the better play when you play with the Jacoby rule.
It was a pleasure to learn from your knowledge. The video is very clear and concise!

Right..I m thinkin about that. Maybe I do in Monaco

How about making a Video on
the Second move ? 🕺🕺
And how about making a Video
on the Third move ? ? 🕺🕺🕺
Maybe because there are 315 of those.
Keep the videos coming. I know all these moves from XG tutor mode but it lacks explanation as to why. Thank you for the valuable insight.😊

This is so good. Making it easy. I will just pick the simplest ones here and stop worrying about them.

I know these moves, but I still watched it from beginning to end and learnt from the clear explanation of the relative merits of the three 64 options.

Nice Gamblicon board!
Thats right! Excellent board.
Thanks! I’m a beginner and appreciate learning about the strategic moves. 😊
Great video. More, more , more please !!!

Wow, that Gamblicon board looks great!
Only drawback is the checker tray is too shallow so the checkers keep falling down (or need to be little cautious), other than that this is perfect.
Where did you even find this brand? I search for it and see nothing

Great video, sir. Thank you! Can you help me understand why you would not consider running with 6-2, or 6-3?
Pretty sure it’s just for flexibility of your board. Way more options the next rolls to play with
Well done. Thanks.

Excellent video.
ty mochy, can you explain the opponent moves after our opening moves?

hey Mochy... can you make a short video of answering moves for those openings? so we can play 2 moves like a champ? :-) Hope you are doing well :-)

What about doubles on your first move, obviously if you're going second, double 1/5/6 are given, but what about double 2/3/4, you have options.
@ryan luna

What isnthe brand pf the board ?
Thanks for the video! On a 32 opening, is there a difference playing 3 or 2 with your backman? (and 2 or 3 with the other one)
Usually better is playing 3 with backman
Split with 3 is better. 43 also split with 3
You can also "slot" with these numbers..

With me I like to gain my 8 point with 4,1 but it depends on the dice and what the opposition plays
I really don't like making the two point early w/64. A preference thing.
Me too, it has never been natural to me. I do it to to learn "the other way" to play the game.
