      Stuff like "why is that white people pretend that they discovered trends" makes me shake my head. What white person did this? When? Is it common? What the fuck?
      A "trend" by definition is not something you discover - it rises organically, when enough people choose to adopt something.

    8:23 - How about you try to pronounce the names of some people *I* know. Like Myszczyszyn, Cabaj, and Szdlik? If you can't, why are you racist against Ukrainians?

    • @amidst117
      @amidst117 8 років тому +2

      First I'm not racist against Ukrainians but guess what you may know them and they may be celebrities to you but in the US no one fucking knows who they are and its in a whole different language that I don't know so they would be pronounced differently to you Tada are you happy

    • @ShammyKat
      @ShammyKat 8 років тому +67

      Hell even I get surprised when people pronounce my own last name right, when I went to college I got asked several times if I made a typo typing it out. (no fuckers. I just have letters that are sorta silent.)
      Gosh, people need to be less racist of Icelanders too!!!!!

    • @ShammyKat
      @ShammyKat 8 років тому +21

      +Given Styles No buddy, I was actually agreeing with them. The 'yelling' was sarcasm, so I guess you could say I was having fun with that! I think what they were trying to say(or at least in my idea anyway) is that just because you can't pronounce an unfamiliar name or word, that shouldn't make you racist. I couldn't care less if someone can't pronounce my name. I find it entertaining when people try, actually - because it's not a typical or common name. Hell, I have lifetime friends who still pronounce it wrong, haha.

    • @Y2KNW
      @Y2KNW 8 років тому +49

      Given Styles Kinda missed the point, dude. If group A wets themselves and cries racism when people unfamiliar with the way their culture's names are structured, then it's only logical they be labelled racists when having difficulty with names from a culture they're unfamiliar with. Right?
      Or is there some "it's only bad when someone else does it" shit going on?

    • @EternityForEternity
      @EternityForEternity 7 років тому +23

      Morgan Freeman did not say to stop talking and never converse; he said "stop talking about race and racism," with the implication that when people spent their time talking about everything else - from interests and enjoyments and ideologies to things on the opposite scale - then they would grow closer together and race, as it is perceived today, would become a thing of the past. No one would care what someone's race is, they would care what an individual believes in, what they like and dislike, etc.
      Mr. Freeman was as correct as they get.

      Have you gotten followed around a store and asked to prove that you and your big brother are not stealing all because of your skin color? No? Then please understand that white privilege is a thing. And don't down play the hardships of black people.

    • @randalljackson9481
      @randalljackson9481 7 років тому +15

      Jess ff and yes I understand privilege but don't act like ever race and sex doesn't have any kind of privilege. hmm SAT scores are weighed differently in African Americans favor. there are literally thousands of scholarships specifically catered for African Americans but I guarantee if I made the white man scholarship award I would be a racist bigot. You can literally get away with saying racist comments bc of your skin color, if I make a black joke omg he is a racist!!! So please get off the victim horse, I know it's not right but every race get pre judged for something, but all the prejudices come from something like white people are prejudiced by black community bc deep inside you worry is he racist is he not that is a prejudice whether you believe it or not and yes it came from white people in the past being most part racist but the prejudice of being followed around in a store comes from something as well. again it's not right but it is true

      Yep, if I let my African-textured hair loose other Black people will scorn me all day long, they might even just pick me from the street just to point out to me how "unprofessional" it looks, I see East-Africans with loose hair all the time yet they don't complain about each other. The whole reason I choose not to identify with the majority of Black-Africans has nothing to do with me not liking other Blacks but because most of them simply have a very aggressive and hostile culture, it's the same reason I avoid people of Indian descent. I don't even deliberately do it by choice I just avoid hostile-minded people and in general the ones _I_ meet tend to be either Black (Dutch-Caribbean) or South-Asian brown People (Surinamese).

      It genuinely makes me happy to see people finally bring this up... Im Super white and no where close to racist. But I feel like more unfair stereo types go to people from the middle east or who Look the part. They could be from Israel but People will still make Terrorist jokes or Act frightened or Uncomfortable, But nope the African american community play the victim about cop shootings that are also happening to whites and Mexicans. At this point the BLM community isnt looking for Equality they are looking for special privilege because for some blasphemous reason they think I have some Golden Ticket that Makes me Excel at life cause Im White. Its hard to respect the BLM community when There entire organization is about playing the victim then assaulting and bullying there way onto stages to try and get there points across.

    • @InfernosReaper
      @InfernosReaper 8 років тому +3

      Pretty much every time I brought that up in discussion with BLM people, they were like "because we're focusing on this issue now, not that." My response was, "someone apparently doesn't realize that Hispanics get treated way worse in the US than blacks are these days. The police used to regularly rob Hispanics & say, "oh, we thought it was drug money" all the time before they finally managed to do it to someone who actually did have connections to challenge the police. Since many Hispanics do not speak good English(if any), it's hard for them to report things done to them, especially by police. Hispanics are also the only group in this country I can think of who can end
      up getting deported like Cheech in the movie Born in East LA even if they do have their idea on them & have nothing they can do about it, so that also makes appealing to law enforcement for help a risky move for any citizen.
      Meanwhile, blacks have the NAACP & countless other organizations helping blacks fight injustice & go to college. Hispanics might get the ACLU at most, if they're lucky.

      +ralph zoeboy what hispanics worked with african americans alot there were multiple groups where african americans worked together and marched with blacks. the main problem was the majority of hispanics in the south were cuban which were considered white at the time and the only other Hispanics on the east coast were puerto ricans. Not only this but hispanic immigration didn't get big until the 1950's and many hispanic legal or illegal were deported and hispanic immigrants stayed in the west or southwest until the 1980's amd in case you don't remember most hispanics were considered of colour and were treated the same as blacks.

    Gonna be honest here. My natural hair is curly as hell and I'm white. Very curly. I'm not wearing it as a trend, I'm not wearing it because black people do it, I wear it because that's the hair I was born with. Do they think white people don't have curly hair or something? And another thing. I am uncomfortable talking about race because my ex friend who is Asian called me racist when I complimented how I wish I had her skin colour. I was complimenting her, so now I am scared to talk about race because I don't want to get wrongfully accused. Xx

Most of us can sound out words in typical European languages. "Black" names don't follow a particular pattern and they don't seem to be based on any language that we recognize. Where do people even get these names from anyway? I don't understand.

But, even after that I'm still not racist at all. but, here's a question from a white person. if a white person throws stuff at you or attack you for being black it's disgustingly racist but, if a black person does it because the person is white it's not seen as racism at all in your community?

    • @KDL9077
      @KDL9077 8 років тому +4

      +AXE-ACTLY Saying that they are just kids is not a reasonable excuse. If a kid commits a crime or is being unruly then they need to be punished and taught the wrongs of the action. They may be still developing but we are all accountable for our actions and should be taught that. Shrugging it off and saying that they are just kids is what leads to them growing to become burdens on society either because they can't take care of themselves or they are incapable of understanding that committing a crime or acting uncivilized is not acceptable. Also the actions of kids often reflect the values of their parents, so these kids that treated the person that was bullied most likely adopted it from their parents or someone they view as a role model. If you must have an incident of racism from a black person that was an adult then a good example is of my fiancée going to swim in our apartment's pool where she was confronted by a black man and woman who told her that she can't swim there because they didn't want white people around their kids, she responded that the way they were treating her was racist and ignorant. The man replied that black people are incapable of being racist, and ended up leaving with his kids because my fiancée basically told him to fuck off and went swimming.

    Actually, white people ARE told to answer for their entire race all the time. For Buzzfeed to ask that question in the same video with the "why can't you acknowledge your privilege" question is a contradiction of the highest order.
    Also, one of the questioners in the video seemed to think there are no whites who would ever be uncomfortable in a homogeneously white place. They might want to try talking to people who were raised on a military base, where there are all kinds of Americans in uniform and their families and this de facto segregation bullshit (which, by the way, the NORTH is much worse than the South about) does not happen. Put me in a homogeneous place and it gives me a creepy "one of us...one of us..." feeling.
    Homogeneity of ANY kind, whether it's by race, gender, or whatever it is, is a breeding ground for ignorance, partisanship, and insularity and I don't like it. Ever. It may not be something I am constantly conscious of, but if you do throw me into an all-white environment like a few extremely rural areas, or in the Northeast where de facto segregation exists, then yes. I DO feel uneasy.
    We should not FORCE people to live together. But I think people could stand to learn from the military when it comes to having to live together and work together for a mission that is far more important than all of the petty bullshit in life.

      So the quintessential, slim and slender "Clint Eastwood-type" gunslinger being a muscular black man makes sense to you? It doesn't make any difference in terms of the first book, sure, but what about the remaining six?? The story is completely fucked now.
      Or what about the new Ghostbusters movie, in which men are all stupid douchebags and women destroy the villain by shooting him in the dick? You think that's not associated with an SJW, feminist agenda?
      And you think it's all about making things more "white"... Obviously you're just not familiar with the Dark Tower story, otherwise you wouldn't be defending this shit.

    Actually in 8:34 you both pronounced Schwarzenegger and Galifianakis wrong. Their real pronunciation of these two names are way different but they just convert it that way so their audiences can pronounce their name. I live about 60 kms away from Galifianakis heritage village and i'm telling you that you would have a really hard time to pronounce it as it is pronounced there. But guess what! We understand that you don't have our accent so we don't whine and try to force you to pronounce our names correctly.

    I think when it comes to being unable to pronounce black names vs being able to pronounce Dostoevsky, Schwarzenegger, etc, is exposure. We're taught names of famous artists/musicians, etc in school, and we hear the names of famous people on the news and TV all the time.
    Whereas, most of the time I rarely hear the names of my black classmates more than once or twice a day, much less say them myself since I've never cared about making friends during school, and whenever I did end up making friends, it was a result of either circumstances or someone coming up to me and hitting it off.
