I’m grateful a grew up poor and had no cable because I would’ve never discovered Huell! Fell in love with the show as a little kid and now I’m 26 watching it on UA-cam! Ahaha
This was one of my family's favorite shows when the kids were growing up. We all looked forward to each new episode, and had fun re-watching our favorites, and planning trips to see the places Huell visited. The kids are now grown and gone, but we still talk about and say "California's Gold" in our best Huell Howser voices 😊. He is missed.
Some network should have the Huell Houser/Anthony Bourdain hour. Both were unique is their own way. Huell traveled around California while Bourdain travelled the world.
I saw the recent visit to Pink's on Jordan the Lion's UA-cam channel. I had tears watching this. I miss Huell Howser. I watched his shows in the 90's when I still lived in Southern California.
Great episode, Pinks is a great place to eat Chili Dogs at, I ate there a few times when I visited Los Angeles, I especially liked all the actors signed pictures on the walls. In San Jose, California we have Marks Hotdogs that is also great and uses Stephens Meats hotdogs.
Where did everyones character go? Practically everyone in his interviews seem filled with charisma and a eagerness to communicate. People today seem so insecure compared to 20 years ago
The people in this video aren't that different to today; Huell was just both naturally charismatic, and an extremely skilled broadcaster. That rare combination of natural talent and skill will never fail to bring people out of their shells, even today. Anyone who's ever tried their hand as an on-camera host can immediately tell that Huell is an absolute master.
One of my all-time favorite Huell's. He's at his top form here. This and his trilogy of the desert around Salton Sea are his finest works, IMO. What a great presenter. Reminds me of Rick Sebek in the same PBS media vein, in Pittsburgh.
Waited exactly 2 hours in line for Pinks with my son. It was worth the wait, not just for the food, but also for being out with people like us. Making life count by enjoying simple pleasures, seeing the faces of people who are like ourselves, trying to go through life with good will. It wasn't all about eating. It was an experience. 😌
"Oh my gosh ! " thank you Huell for your woundeful programming. As a side note; if you ever get the chance to see his window cleaning of skyscrapers, do not pass on viewing it. It's hilarious.
I lived one block away on Sycamore St. around 1973 and then later on around 1978 lived on Detroit St. 2 blocks away. Both times were literally parallel to their location even facing towards Pinks. However, I've never been a huge hot dog fan so I usually get the chili cheese Tamale which most people might not even realize they have. Because they also had Pinks Racing pictures on the wall I used to think they were related to each other but, recently found out that's not true. Pinks will definitely always have a soft spot in my heart.
20:19 Great episode and chemistry in this one. Except when Huell made that fingernail reference. She was ready to throw up. LOL. One of many awkward Huell moments in the series.
Here’s a hint. The snap is natural casein. ( intestines. ). Casper hot dogs have that. But Miller Frank’s, those are great all beef 🌭. Those are sol at sport arenas. If you like the big old fashioned Costco hotdogs, you’ll love Miller Franks! The best way to cook them is room temperature, deep fried in peanut oil or lard. Steamed, but make sure the waters simmering before you add the hot dogs. Low and slow. 3-4-21 🌭🍔🧉🥪❤️✌️
I think I know why he didn't, but I wish Huell would have asked the Pink family if they still eat their own hot dogs and if so, how often. Just curious is all. I never hear that question asked of restaurant owners when someone interviews them. I sure would.
I'm going to stop and check them out if they still in Los Angeles area Pink's hot yum yum yum I love hot dog if you got a quarter pounder or half pound of hot dog regular that's good already keep up the good work and feed them miles James up in the Bay area
Sometime around the 2010s, Pinks had a policy that allowed customers to skip the line if the had physicians appointments or worked for air traffic control. Someone lied and cheated the system, a few thugs invited him on a boat under the guise that he was the 1000000th customer- they "took care" of the line cutter. The policy has since been abandoned.
Glad to see that they have nice Ladies working the counter. Back in the '70s it was manned by smart aleck "chulo" parolees (That's chulo not cholo, there's a big difference) And I guess Mitz Root Beer went out of business too.
royals Prince William and princess Kate Middleton dog and Chicago dog and Guadalajara dog and huell hower from California gold dog very pink' s best hot dogs I'm come vist best pinks rip huell hower
Great dogs, stay away from the ones that are loaded with sodium nitrate, go for "natural style" dogs only! RIP Huell Howser, a sodium nitrate aficionado.......
Nothing against Huell but pinks wasn’t all that. They don’t even toast the bread on those hot dogs. I ordered a mushroom hot dog and cheese and it was nasty . Won’t go again . I rather eat the hot dogs wrapped in bacon they sale at the alleys in downtown
Nothing against you, but anyone that puts mushrooms and cheese on a hot dog or eats dogs on "toasted buns" deserves to be disappointed. "Toasted buns"?!! What do you do at a baseball game?
When Huell died Pinks put a giant banner up saying Miss You Huell
What?! I DIDN'T know that☹
Now Betty White will also live in hot dog history, just like Huell Howser, God bless them both.
they buried him with a pink's wiener in his mouth

Gotta love the "Pinks" family; what a class act.
Surprised these don’t have millions of views. Treasures!
Huell was a good ole southern boy from Tennessee ! RIP

I'M MEXICAN AND I LOVE HOW HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING ❤
i miss mr. howser 😢
Awe :( don't feel bad, I'm sure Huell Howser and Betty White are enjoying hot dogs up in Heaven now :) God bless them both, Amen.
I saw the recent visit to Pink's on Jordan the Lion's UA-cam channel. I had tears watching this. I miss Huell Howser. I watched his shows in the 90's when I still lived in Southern California.
Thanks, Huell. Definitely heading to Pink's next time I'm in Hollywood!
If Pinks is too busy try Chili Johns in Burbank they have the snappy dogs too and great chili
I’m from DC! And I love Huell.
I Love LA. I'm a Londoner I will certainly visit to taste your great Hotdogs
Huell looked like a 50s weightlifter. I heard he lifted 2 hrs every morning, that is goals.
Where did everyones character go? Practically everyone in his interviews seem filled with charisma and a eagerness to communicate.
People today seem so insecure compared to 20 years ago
Because they would rather be on their phones talking to someone else that isn't even there.
Thanks to cancelling.... wokeness.... PC and trans can't say anything anymore without someone getting hysterical...hair trigger

I remember Pink as a child when we lived in Culver City

Miss watching Huell showed me around California by watching his show. Watch his show for In and Out.

They named Mr. Howser's favorite hotdog in his honor, the Huell Howser dog. RIP xo
I order it every time, it’s great. RIP Mr. Howser
Bless them, 2024 and they still haven’t removed it or even renamed it. 🫡
"Oh my gosh ! " thank you Huell for your woundeful programming. As a side note; if you ever get the chance to see his window cleaning of skyscrapers, do not pass on viewing it. It's hilarious.
If there was even an example of California's Gold, Huell is it. Thank you for all you did for this state. Rest well sir.

Hey DFD,
When purchased already assembled, is thread-lock used? Can this procedure be done in reverse to apply a high polish to these components.
