East End Dubs’ custom studio is a cutting-edge synth paradise

- A studio unlike any we’ve ever seen.
London-based techno producer East End Dubs popped up back in 2012 releasing deep house on Kote Records and hasn’t taken a breath since, self-releasing over a dozen EPs on his own East End Dubs Recordings label and curating the Eastenderz imprint while DJing all over the globe.
East End Dubs is also a serious hardware enthusiast. Back in 2015 he decided to remodel a room in his house and convert it into a proper studio complete with cutting-edge synths, modular gear and drum machines. He even dug two feet under the floor to create an air gap for optimum acoustics. Now that’s dedication.
So many negative comments, his quality music and packed DJ schedule speak for themselves. Plenty of technerds slagging off the equipment he uses, please send me links to any of your music made with your clearly superior equipment that sounds as good as Dubs’ does? And for how poor his equipment supposedly is he seems to be making plenty of money doing it whilst you’re sat on UA-cam slagging him off
AudileBass My PR says it isn't worth my time sending my tracks to people with 'bass' in their name, sorry
staefah your PR? Come off it mate you’re just some virgin sat in your room sending the same shite mix off to labels begging for a feature
That was the worst reply. You're no fun at all.
Give me some intellect to work with dude, pretty please?
staefah yep, definite virgin
Why would you care about their comments??I know I am a adult man,and I dont have to defend what bought nor use in MY studio..I would not waste my time and energy with morons online, that I will never meet...fuk 'em...
Actually really nice to see a studio filled with modern gear that works nice for a producers workflow, in a nice acoustic space, set up to actually make music ... rather than just gear lust and empty obsessing over vintage pieces over anything else.
Yeah ,but the gear he has will be replaced after a year, when the new models come out,the old analog synths will always be a classic and sought after.
awesome studio! and killer tracks - big up East End Dubs!!!
i agree this is not a cutting edge studio. but the amount of gatekeepers in this thread is hilarious. this dude's tracks are exquisite regardless of what they're made with.
I agree, amazing music can be made with any gear. Even a laptop and some KRK's.
Such an amazing studio and of course producer
dope producer and super fancy studio
He's actually a good dude too. Like what a class gent.
Class DJ amazing studio
Your stuff is really really nice :) My favourite Label/Artist for me at the moment. Love all your baselines.
3:20 yes man! Thats amazing!
Very informative!
Love it.
Damn what a studio.
This was actually pretty interesting
That is an awesome creative space idk why there's so much hate. East End Dubs got bangers on bangers
this studio is worth more than my whole home
Poleece lol
Poleece lol
?
I really wanna watch him make a track
iss absolutely brillian
I like what I hear
Very interesting 👌🏽😎🤘🏽👾
I was waiting to hear what plug out you have loaded in the System 1??
Peace.
Never been so jealous of someone
Props for the Electribe
Dudes got all this sick stuff in his house. Anyone still hating in 2020 is defo a virgin!
my fave producer & dj at the moment
me too
yes
Same, although its a little bittersweet sometimes when you hear an amazing track and have to remind yourself you'll never find it
Dad
I was kind of hoping he talked about the Korg ER-1¿?
Great studio & gear!
What type of A&H mixer is that he is using?
Thanx for sharing!!!
zed24
Cool tour! Always liked this producer and his music. There's one thing I don't get , is the layout of gear he uses, like the Rythm in the corner and jp8000 at the bottom rack. But then you have a tr08 and tom cats in prime location. Very strange choice, I know it's subjective but still quite weird. Also he said he's tired of the Juno 106 sound as everyone uses.... I'm pretty sure everyone uses a tr08 and a Morgan minilogue way more than a Juno. Either way it's what you make of your tools and he uses them to make very cool tracks, so hands up
Gregorio Soave you picked up on what I was thinking when you said "tired of the Juno 106 sound as everyone uses...I'm pretty sure everyone uses a TR08 and a Korg Minilogue way more than a Juno. I suppose a TR08 and Tom Cat may well have a more useable sound than the Electron Rytmn for what he wants to do regarding club music or he may just know how to use them better. Anyhow like you said it's what you make of your tools and he does a very good job
Juno 106 - 1984
Korg Minilogue - 2016
Well he most likely has his most recently used synths on prime locations. Maybe he just used those synths a lot recently and hence put them to prime locations.
106 - I interpreted his comment as he had used it in all his productions and got bored of it, which is a fair since it is a very simple synth with limited sonic capabilities. Also cant have all your gear in front of you, something has to go on the lower shelf!
How is all the gear synced??
Nice vid!...He's got a nice production cave there!!
oh my gosh!!
It's really great to see someone using modern gear instead of rich bitches making you feel like you always have to have vintage shit, it's bullshit. Today's gear is amazing and way more powerful, and aside from some tiny differences in sound quality for some things it's just as good and sometimes better. He has a fantastic collection of some of the best stuff out right now. I'm so tired of people looking to the past and their negativity rubbing off on me when we're surrounded by such great tools these days, they're full of it, this is the best time for an electronic musician to be alive.....and shopping ;). Stop waiting and saving a thousand dollars per note of polyphony, and start making some damn music.
Right back at you from the other side minus the bullshit.
Whats the name if the sampler that he uses to load feild recordings
Would love to spend a week in there
Peter B95 lol i would never leave..
i really like the acoustic panels behind the speakers, can somebody name the brand?
thomas mertlseder

lot of behringer trolls here. Great studio with classic-synths and modern stuff. Love it.
Bring him for against the clock
he makes amazing house music
man so much gear, you really need much time to really get into it
sick accent combo
The diffusers are absorbing the tops are they? Cool story.
Can anyone tell me the modular stuff he has?
track id for the first few seconds plzzz?
does anyone know the name of the recorder he has 5:55 ??
Olympus LS-100
What modules he is using with eurorack?
need to know too
dinky's taiko by ALM is one, great drum module
another one is akemies castle if im right, a FM "castle"
and i few tiptop audio drum modules as well
He should of done against the clock ?
Hell yes, I love against the clock!!
itijik he needs to do one 👍🔉
Where do these fellas get the money to put something like this together?!
Good question. Looks like a private house so renting extra space is one less cost here
Adam Butler making music
Fantasy product great insight
Adam Butler ask a stupid question.. ....
Fantasy product wasn’t a stupid question. If you think everyone who makes music makes thousands you’re completely wrong
This guy needs a totally tricked out Rhodes piano to pull it all together and give him some clout.
And here it is! the stölmen IKEA has change our lifestyle.
Where's he from? He sounds vaguely mainlandish
I hear Turkish accent
Calling this a cutting-edge synth paradise is an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. This has to be an endorsement deal or something.
Laurens Goethals that's exactly what I said
One man's trash is another mans treasure. The output is what really matters.
Yeah it is a bit click bait / amateur journalism. Don’t think you can describe cheaper VA clones as cutting edge, but theres an abundance of them and fun to be had.
Exactly, this is nothing just a fancy EDM producer small studio.Take a look at Junkie XL studio(s) now that is cutting edge, this here is nothing.
"Cutting-edge" is definitely the wrong adjective here. Synth "candy shop" maybe? Less like a Wonka Factory outlet and more like a Purdy's mall kiosk hahaha
modern studio
damn this guy show us the presetes of the minilogue lol .
What is your point?
because the minilogue has so many buttons and it's so hard to get there...Isn't it abuhabi nabi?
i dont get why he's got an original tb 303 and the aira version too? what does it change?
where can we find the samples he use for the pioneer toraiz sp-16 ?
Anyone knows which country he is from originally?
I am Turkish and he sounds like one of us :)
analog rytms stands only there for fun :D
What's the opening track?
East End Dubs - Feeline
I’ve been listening to east end dubs since 2012! He’s gone from strength to strength. My only regret is not booking him when I had the chance! We went with a local talk resident instead 😭
local talk records?
Best producer at the moment, off the hook tracks, still waiting for that milkshake edit to be released!!
FunkyTigerDisc it’s out mate
Warren W it's out end of June no ?
FunkyTigerDisc maybe your correct, I was full sure I had it.. I just checked and I don’t bro 🤨
Warren W have a look on Juno ;)
FunkyTigerDisc ua-cam.com/video/iv7kx7Bj5M8/v-deo.html
All i know, most the people commenting negativly on this guys gear probably aint making half the money this guy makes.
i mean you're not wrong but thats a pretty moot point. i dont make as much money as Kim Jong-il either but that dont mean i cant criticize him lol
pioneer and dynaudio with a 10" sub sounds like Fabric main room...... mate....
James Jackson it's a small room where he's in aye...
90% of the sound you have depends on the room treatment. Well treated a room can sound close to a nighclub. But if you buy dynaudio, pioneers and a 10" sub in in small untreated room, I guarantee it will not sound like this :)
Come Hanoune surely a well treated room should sound nothing like a nightclub, hopefully.
lol fabric got martin audio dont know how much watts is in there its sick almost lost my eardrums in there
He's talking about the sound not the power. So much hate in the comments.
Those acoustic panels look like shit outta Star Wars. Want.
pioneer endorsement FTW
I am amazed but he is using logic? I am also logic user and I make similar music like him. I found logic more user frendly
His gear is great, and it's his,so who cares what online people say??I would think I am the stupidest, most weak ass, defending what I spent my money buying for MY studio. If they do not like what he has, they can step up and BIY what 'they' think he should have.Otherwise,'they' can have a damn bag of seats...East End,do your thing,dude..
Angry, defensive, Michael s.
Fucking love the lack of pretension from him. Inspiring
Seems to be like a preset paradise.....
presets can be gold depending on the arrangement
Anyone know what accent he has, can here English but can tell there is something else in there hiding
Defo, was thinking the same. I reckon polish, but probably he’s been round London for half or 3/4 of his life. But yeah definitely a peculiar twang there!!
Actually someone mentioned before Turkish, and when he says percussion is defo sound like Turkish or Persian accent.
Great bloke. But, by "cutting edge" i guess they mean acoustic treatment? Bcs as of the synths (aside that 106) you can get most of those for slightly more than the price of the shipping itself. Sorry i guess someone had to say this.
cutting edge has nothing to do with "high class" or price, it's about the latest.
Don Solaris “someone had to say this” dude everyone said it 😂
east european dubs ?
Is he Turkish? The accent..
Bored of his Juno as heard it in too many productions, proceeds to play with generic TB303 pattern.
Good thing we got you here ;)
Mainly it's just a bunch of software synths.
Sergey Ukolov great comment
"Cutting edge"
As he says himself, he cares more about the sound and the performance of the room than he does about how the sound is made. Stop being a snob lol
this guy sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about..
You guys really have no idea about minimalism
dude how in any way is he a douche? haha tbh you kinda sound like the douche. at the very least an elitist. but thanks for the suggestions. I will enjoy them AND east end dubs.
@@VIDEOSELEKTOR dude this guy is one of the sickest of his genre😂😂
Dope studio. Please get rid of the digital 303, get an analog clone.
Are you serious.. I'm not fond of the built-in distortion effect but other than that I love it.
The TB-03 sounds good to me...
this is funny as fuk, techno and house producers have loads of hardware, yet the genre they produce should all bve made in the box, noone will be able to tell the difference anyways,LAME!!!!
Maybe we just enjoy it? Ever think of that?
This is not a 303 !!! XD
Techno producer hahaha
"cutting edge" ?!? LMAO
Props to him being so successful w a bunch of mostly junk lol
are you high lmao
HORRIBLE SINTHS ;(
Cutting edge ??! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy's tracks basically all sound the same...
Just for you, because you´re not able to notice the nuances.
Go home
So much wasted electricity in this room lmao maybe there’re all just plugged for the segment
This is nothing more than a commercial for Roland and Pioneer gear. He is obviously getting paid to endorse this crap. I cannot believe any producer at his level of success would be using this garbage. No way. It's became obvious the way he pulled the recorder out. Total rubbish "interview."
salllllty
Except he is using this stuff. Owning esoteric eurorack and vintage analogue is not a sure fire route to success. Creativity trumps equipment.
Nacht Schreck if your good you can make good tracks with any of these machines, nothing wrong with most of em.
7:58 'I've got a 10 inch subwoofer here...when I put all these three together it sounds like Fabrics main room' haha what a bullshit artist
Lol what?? 🤣 East End Dubs is probably the illest artists out there
BOŞ İŞLER
Look like Foam acoustic panels... what is worthless.
Mineral wool absorbs sounds not foam.
Studio looks great though
I don't think I've ever seen a producer with such poor taste in gear. There's Akai Tom cat in there for fuck sake. All so vanilla...
That 9U eurorack modular is tragic.
I'm sure the room sounds great
It's what he makes that matters
Juno 106, JP-8000, Octatrack - poor taste? If it sounds good it is good, I don't care what you've used.
You forgot to mention the awesome boutique 303 XD
lol someone is salty
staefah the equipment is irrelevant
All that gear wasted to make sub-par music and sound like an amateur.
Fuck
So much gear, boring output..
Enjoy netflix
@@whyyoumakethissohard enjoy boring house music
