East End Dubs’ custom studio is a cutting-edge synth paradise

  • A studio unlike any we’ve ever seen.
    London-based techno producer East End Dubs popped up back in 2012 releasing deep house on Kote Records and hasn’t taken a breath since, self-releasing over a dozen EPs on his own East End Dubs Recordings label and curating the Eastenderz imprint while DJing all over the globe.
    East End Dubs is also a serious hardware enthusiast. Back in 2015 he decided to remodel a room in his house and convert it into a proper studio complete with cutting-edge synths, modular gear and drum machines. He even dug two feet under the floor to create an air gap for optimum acoustics. Now that’s dedication.

    So many negative comments, his quality music and packed DJ schedule speak for themselves. Plenty of technerds slagging off the equipment he uses, please send me links to any of your music made with your clearly superior equipment that sounds as good as Dubs’ does? And for how poor his equipment supposedly is he seems to be making plenty of money doing it whilst you’re sat on UA-cam slagging him off

    Actually really nice to see a studio filled with modern gear that works nice for a producers workflow, in a nice acoustic space, set up to actually make music ... rather than just gear lust and empty obsessing over vintage pieces over anything else.

      Yeah ,but the gear he has will be replaced after a year,when the new models come out,the old analog synths will always be a classic and sought after.

    Cool tour! Always liked this producer and his music. There's one thing I don't get , is the layout of gear he uses, like the Rythm in the corner and jp8000 at the bottom rack. But then you have a tr08 and tom cats in prime location. Very strange choice, I know it's subjective but still quite weird. Also he said he's tired of the Juno 106 sound as everyone uses.... I'm pretty sure everyone uses a tr08 and a Morgan minilogue way more than a Juno. Either way it's what you make of your tools and he uses them to make very cool tracks, so hands up

    • @RoomAtTheTopStudio
      @RoomAtTheTopStudio 6 років тому

      Gregorio Soave you picked up on what I was thinking when you said "tired of the Juno 106 sound as everyone uses...I'm pretty sure everyone uses a TR08 and a Korg Minilogue way more than a Juno. I suppose a TR08 and Tom Cat may well have a more useable sound than the Electron Rytmn for what he wants to do regarding club music or he may just know how to use them better. Anyhow like you said it's what you make of your tools and he does a very good job

      Well he most likely has his most recently used synths on prime locations. Maybe he just used those synths a lot recently and hence put them to prime locations.

    • @RaveyStabs
      @RaveyStabs 6 років тому +1

      106 - I interpreted his comment as he had used it in all his productions and got bored of it, which is a fair since it is a very simple synth with limited sonic capabilities. Also cant have all your gear in front of you, something has to go on the lower shelf!

    It's really great to see someone using modern gear instead of rich bitches making you feel like you always have to have vintage shit, it's bullshit. Today's gear is amazing and way more powerful, and aside from some tiny differences in sound quality for some things it's just as good and sometimes better. He has a fantastic collection of some of the best stuff out right now. I'm so tired of people looking to the past and their negativity rubbing off on me when we're surrounded by such great tools these days, they're full of it, this is the best time for an electronic musician to be alive.....and shopping ;). Stop waiting and saving a thousand dollars per note of polyphony, and start making some damn music.

    This is nothing more than a commercial for Roland and Pioneer gear. He is obviously getting paid to endorse this crap. I cannot believe any producer at his level of success would be using this garbage. No way. It's became obvious the way he pulled the recorder out. Total rubbish "interview."

      Except he is using this stuff. Owning esoteric eurorack and vintage analogue is not a sure fire route to success. Creativity trumps equipment.

    Look like Foam acoustic panels... what is worthless.
    Mineral wool absorbs sounds not foam.
    Studio looks great though

    I don't think I've ever seen a producer with such poor taste in gear. There's Akai Tom cat in there for fuck sake. All so vanilla...
    That 9U eurorack modular is tragic.
    I'm sure the room sounds great

      Juno 106, JP-8000, Octatrack - poor taste? If it sounds good it is good, I don't care what you've used.
