"victims of their own success, the explorers pretty much stay home" that coupled with the image of the shuttle coming down in reverse is absolutely soul wrenching
Carl Sagan was a living model of what we should all strive to be. Compassionate & curious, to use our intelligence with confidence and caution. To do our best to measure ourselves and therefore best determine what measures we should take. He was a gentle, yet persistent voice of reason; clearly delivering the path to the answers that lie in us all, whether we recognize it or not. The only way to truly appreciate his message is to try and live it.
That was the best summation of Carl Sagan's life and career as a human being I have ever heard. If Carl were here today and asked all of us "What have you done for humanity lately?". Anything I can come with, falls somewhere between mediocrity and selfishness. Trying to live up to Carl's hopes for humanity is a tall order.
You know, when I look around I lose almost all faith in humanity. However, when I watch things like this.. it puts back some of that faith that I lose. This is a simply wonderful video. Thank you and thank you Mr. Sagan for everything.
Its strange, I''m a guy who doesn't cry, sad movies, sad funerals, depressing situations regardless of the time or place I swallow it back and 'man up' but a 3:23 minute video about our achievements and potential leaves me in tears that I can't hold back. Thank you Reid Gower and of course Carl Sagan for giving me hope in what we can achieve! =)
We are not quite the middle children. We are taking that of which we've gathered from our knowledge of the universe and reapplying it to ourselves. In many ways we live in the most interesting time, as we get to be the one's discovering the applications of that of which our ancestors explored and what our great grandchildren will explore.
Hey Reid, just wanted to say that this series you made kinda changed my life all those years ago. I’m revisiting it again and appreciating the beauty you’ve created. You’re a good yooman, as Carl would probably say about you.
Mr. Saga is always able to find just the right words to make something as difficult and dangerous as space travel seem like a wonderful walk in the park. I love it!
From Chile... Thanks for such master piece.. thanks for bringing Carl to our Generation... "Looking for the stars its the best way we have to seek for tomorrow"
This video is so underrated it makes my heart ache. This method of thinking; the way Sagan takes a panoramic view of it all, it's so rare...I would like to believe that humanity will come to its senses but I know it won't, and that's what makes me so sad.
Thank you very much, Reid. You are doing a great service. "I hope that some day scientists can be considered heroes again, instead of Paris Hilton." - Walter Isaacson
Whenever i listen to carl sagan i get this feeling! A mixture of fear and excitement, sadness, and happiness. We will not see any aliens or other planets, we wont travel in space, but dont feel bad: You are alive! You know whats out there. You know where you came from. You just dont know yet where you will be going.... yet! I believe that when we die, we venture in outer space. We become the universe once again! Dont worry, you will see the universe in all its glory, no need to rush! :)
When I saw this on my subscriptions page I was so exited, no Sagan Series episode has left me without feeling completely different feelings that are not my own.
I love this man. I’ve gone through a very deep depression to the point of suicide and when I discovered this man it brought a little light unto my world. My wives family is always discrediting my admiration for men such as Carl Sagan because they don’t follow the Christian doctrine but this to me is my religion. I love science educators. Thank you Carl Sagan for the voice you have given to science.
I absolutely love this series although like others that have commented here it threatens to make me cry. The greed, corruption and stupidity that permeates humanity is astounding from our leaders on down. Just read the comments on any news article on Facebook. The most telling thing I can take from these videos is the statistic of military vs space budget, if we just flipped those figures humanity would be much better off and far more advanced. Sagan was the man!
Thank you. After watching these video's, sharing them, downloading them and putting them on my iPod, I have become so fascinated with space, even so much as to travel to the Kennedy space center. They have giving, not only me, but all who watch them hope for the future and truly they do help to inspire those who believe that we can rise above our petty differences and travel into the heavens. Thank You
Never more than at this moment in the modern era have we needed a profound reminder of the colossally important and exciting role that science, space exploration and the human quest for knowledge must continue to play in our development as a species. Thank you for everything Carl.
I weep with joy and recognition of a kindred spirit when I even think for very long about Carl Sagan, Thank you for another wonderful video to share with my students
These videos bring tears to my eyes, very little has ever done that to me. But these are tears of hope and despair. The hope is that I believe that one day, we will traverse the stars, that one day we will meet other beings, that one day, we can reach a peaceful and stable environment where different religions, cultures, and ideologies CAN EXIST peacefully. Despair, that the hope will probably never happen.
Sagan is truly the poet of modern science. He really puts things into perspectives. We need more people like him, even to just spark our little friend called curiosity. Curiosity can lead to great things.
Ever word he said was true and I wish he was here to say it again I wish he could have lived just a little longer to see what he done impacted the world so much.If we learn from our last then we can shape our future. We must listen to our great minds we will find that they have so many answers.
About a year ago, I think it was. It was then that clips from the show cosmos found its way on to my laptop screen. I then went to my local library and rented the whole series. While watching, it quickly started to dawn on me the faults within myself, and within all of us. How blind I must have been. How many times I've refused to see the beauty of the everyday happenings. And so, I'm proud to say, through the words of Carl Sagan, and of several inspiring forms of literature since then, I love.
Do not despair. there are more people like you and me than are readily apparent. All we must do is work honestly, and towards a brighter future. But one day we will become the majority. We just gotta believe and try.
Being born in the age of Internet's discovery is a privilege few will have the chance to enjoy. I say it feels pretty good to be in the middle of history! :)
Thanks a lot for this MASTERPIECE... Thanx for trying to push the human race forward... Thanx for bringing back to life the fading words of a dreamer.. a man who talks in behalf of everyone.. instead of himself... Thanks for creating something WorthSpreading... From Chile ... Thanks a lot!

In a way, he saw it coming.

"Humans, like the gods of old, living in the sky."
I just love that sentence. It's amazing.
I'm not sure why this made me cry, but no one can touch my soul like Sagan.
Carl Sagan's voice is so incredibly calming. This is the perfect video to watch for a good cry.
"new world ocean" ... love it.
Man I love your videos nad hardwork
"No more impassable, than the last..."
Heyyy melodysheep
Hi bro
Whoa hi
You know, when I look around I lose almost all faith in humanity. However, when I watch things like this.. it puts back some of that faith that I lose. This is a simply wonderful video. Thank you and thank you Mr. Sagan for everything.
Humans, like the gods of old, living in the sky.
***** looking for 'untold opportunities' :)
Now you can easily understand who wre the so called God or Gods..
We miss you Carl
At least you miss him. I can't even do that cause I am 13 in 2016...And Carl died in 20th century...way before me :'(
Hey, that's amazing you're drawn to these kind of ideas at a young age! I only came to know of Carl recently and I miss him so much.
Man! I learnt so much from Carl that I could combine his words of wisdom and my experiences to write a book...Hmm should I?
Do whatever that stimulates your curiosity :)
I miss him to i'm 20. I admire him that's why i miss him.
this video makes me cry every time

Born too late to explore the Earth
Born too early to explore the galaxy
We're the middle children of history
Feels bad man
But, born regardless, so, why not explore ourselves?
There's lost of the Earth to explore still.
We are not quite the middle children. We are taking that of which we've gathered from our knowledge of the universe and reapplying it to ourselves. I wanna help build spaceships so baaaaaad
Brandon Shaffer Aerospace engineering is a good field friend, respectful and very rewarding.
Happy 80th Birthday Carl Sagan. Your legacy will live on. What a great scientist.
I could see staying home all day long and watching this and Feynman. That would keep my mind busy.
What do you do instead, sir?
Hey Reid, just wanted to say that this series you made kinda changed my life all those years ago. I’m revisiting it again and appreciating the beauty you’ve created. You’re a good yooman, as Carl would probably say about you.

Carls words always make me cry.... RIP Carl we miss you....
Voice of reason. Voice of science. Voice of the brilliance that human beings can ever achieve. Just makes me cry.
Brought tears to my eyes
Mr Sagan, you are badly missed.
From Chile... Thanks for such master piece.. thanks for bringing Carl to our Generation... "Looking for the stars its the best way we have to seek for tomorrow"
I love this series more than words can say.
Carl would have been proud
This video is so underrated it makes my heart ache. This method of thinking; the way Sagan takes a panoramic view of it all, it's so rare...I would like to believe that humanity will come to its senses but I know it won't, and that's what makes me so sad.

Thank you very much, Reid. You are doing a great service.

There are two voices in this world that put me at peace and help me relax, Sagan is one, Hawking is the other.
I love these narrations, man. This man has an inspirational voice.
Every time it gets me. Such a beautiful series. Wonderful words. Would that we could make the whole world see things through this lens.
it is always a pleasure to hear Dr. Sagan

I love this!!! That shot of the surface of Mars is magnificent.

Aaaaaaaaaaand my day has been made. Thank you, Carl Sagan.
I love this man. I’ve gone through a very deep depression to the point of suicide and when I discovered this man it brought a little light unto my world. YES! I've wanted a new Sagan video for so long now! Beautiful work Reid Gower! Brought tears to my eyes.
I wish I had the money to get this screened before every film at the cinema and every commercial break on TV.
More people need to see these.
I absolutely love this series although like others that have commented here it threatens to make me cry. No, if they flipped those figures, their surrounding countries/cultures will invade.
Never heard of The Sagan Series.
I'll be checking it out real soon. Carl is my hero and I could watch him all day.
Thank you. After watching these video's, sharing them, downloading them and putting them on my iPod, I have become so fascinated with space, even so much as to travel to the Kennedy space center. I could listen to Carl Sagan for eternity.
R.I.P
he could say anything and i'd be awestruck. however, i'm glad that he chose the words that he did. they've touched me.
I love, love, love this series... Mr. Reid Gower please give us more!!!!
These videos bring tears to my eyes, very little has ever done that to me. But these are tears of hope and despair.

Despair, that the hope will probably never happen.
Finally, I was beginning to wonder if you'd stopped making these.
Keep it up, I show them to everyone I can whenever there's a new one!
Always get goosebumps when i watch these
These videos really inspire me to do things, and live life in general.
Thank you for the videos. They have made quite an impact in my life. So sad you are gone Carl, you are quite an inspiration.
This video gets to me every time I watch it. Its just so surreal.
You have no idea how happy I was to see this in my subscription box.
This is wonderful, thank you.
Hope you are well, from the future, in 2019!
Eu te amo Carl Sagan
Carl Sagan, he's like.. a magician with words and wisdom.
Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" should be taught in every school. Brilliant video.
Wow, this is a good one. Carl was really a visionary. We need to set sail in that new world ocean
Liked, favourited, and shared. Thank you damewse. You do great justice to Carl.
Sagan is truly the poet of modern science. He really puts things into perspectives. We need more people like him, even to just spark our little friend called curiosity. Curiosity can lead to great things.
He always make us teared up once a while
It definitely makes you think, only to realise the answer you are looking for is incomprehensible.
You're the man!! One of the best yet in the series!
Ever word he said was true and I wish he was here to say it again I wish he could have lived just a little longer to see what he done impacted the world so much.If we learn from our last then we can shape our future. We must listen to our great minds we will find that they have so many answers.
at 0:49 I couldn't help but think after he said that "and will be there, long after we disappear"
Please keep these videos coming I love these videos

Goosebumps, as always.
Wow, no other man can create such an emotional response as the great Carl Sagan.
sagan inspire us all like you did when i was a child wondering about becoming an astronaut.
The way he says humans makes me laugh every single time😂😂😂😂
Do not despair. there are more people like you and me than are readily apparent. All we must do is work honestly, and towards a brighter future. But one day we will become the majority. We just gotta believe and try.
