I’ve had starlink for about 6 months now as I RV full-time across the country. Have nothing bad to say about it. It’s simply amazing! It gets a hiccup now and then, but it only lasts seconds and it’s so well worth it. You will never have Internet issues ever again as long as you have open sky above you.
All I can say is in Yuma Arizona Nomad does not work, and the worst customer service EVER. We tried everything and while we did get in touch with customer service it was always the same. "your issue will need to be forwarded to a supervisor" and out of eight calls we received "0" followup return calls. Starlink has been great in both Texas and Arizona. Buyer beware.

@@EndlessRVing IN the same area where we use starlink and our verizon hot spot with no issues. Nomad seemed like a great addition but no matter what we tried including several hard resets it just would not stay working. I mean, in eight days we had maybe two hours of run time.

I have been using Nomad for years. We did go through a rocky period back in Dec, but fortunately, those issues have been resolved. It's necessary for us, as we live in the boonies, and don't have access to cable. It's either DSL or cell. They have been a Godsend for us!

I have Nomad internet and went through the new update to Nomad air and when setting up I had to issue and I was able to get a live person on the phone he was very knowledgeable and helpful he was very nice and walked me through it very quickly it’s great I’m happy with the service. I respect you both and enjoy your channel. That said, I have to say that my "promotion" alert went off when listening to this episode. Can you say more about any financial incentive this company is providing you to review the product? Future updates would feel much more balanced if they were in the context of other choices and different priorities of RVers. Personally, with my Visible cell service, I get 50Ggs of data for $35 a month - as long as I have a Verizon signal. So this would have to be lightyears better to be worth the high price. For me, I'm more likely to explore Starlink as a backup system (for similar $) for internet when I don't have Verizon signal.

Since im a full time RVer and work full time on the road I always have to have superb cell conmection. I have a Peplink Pewave Max Transit Pro modem with an AT&T and Verizon SIM card and it has worked all over the country! Thank you for this info!

Customer service sucks,if you want someone on the phone, forget it, I tried for days, left message after message, NO reply at all.
If you don’t care about the phone and like to talk to a robot or a chat or by email, well that was ok .
I got very frustrated not getting anyone on the phone and was also misled by other you tubers who said you can turn the service on and off as you wish, NOT as of 2 weeks ago as I was told by a chat person.
For me that was a big draw ,so with no phone calls and the last issue, I was done.
I returned the unit, which took forever to get, now waiting for my money back.
Look at the BBB report, again I NEVER EVER got to talk to anyone on the phone

All I’m asking is to not misinform the consumer , please don’t tell RV er’s they can turn it on and off when it’s not even active, this is what I was told in a chat with a representative, to call and have it done, lol what call, never got through or had a return call plus you are closed during weekend it said

Love your channel. I ordered Nomad Air over two weeks ago and I keep getting emails stating it will take another 2-3 weeks to ship and I can choose the Cube which is in stock. So I ordered T Mobile Home Internet and it already shipped. Since I am not a full timer this will probably work. No penalty for taking T-Mobile on trips. Nomad reviews scare the heck out of me but I will give them a try for a few trips and if they are not good or live up to their word I will cancel. I am trusting RVLifestyle, Enjoythejourney and you guys but am not confident. If Nomad would stop giving the Nomad Air to all the channels I would have mine lol😂. Keep up the great reviews.

Mine is also on backorder. I complained about the fact that they didn’t disclose this during ordering. They’ve offered a Cube at $199 that can be shipped immediately. I’m weighing the pros and cons.

Love the idea of the unlimited and unthrottled data plan. We have a Pepwave 5g router, can we use that with their data plan? Or do you have to use their hardware? Great video guys, thanks for the info!!
You can use your own hardware they do have plans for that.
What are you using now? We only RV (and boat on Lake Powell) a few months out of the year. We'd like to have reliable internet while doing so. But, then we need to pause it through the fall and winter months. What do you recommend?

I can say the customer service has been fantastic since I ordered 2 weeks ago. At least in the way of how quickly they respond to emails. It does seem like they are trying to improve that.
The concern I have after receiving my modem today is my speeds are 100% being throttled to 100mb. I'm a tech guy so I know this for a fact. I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. Again, customer service has been fantastic which was my #1 fear based on previous reviews.
Great video. I have a couple of questions though, since you do have ATT, it would be good to check if you can plug in an ATT SIM card to see if it works at your home. It would also be interesting to test if plugging in an external antenna helps when you have week signals. Does placement of the Nomad router effect signal strength inside the RV? For example does it need to be placed near a window or will it work just as well inside a cabinet? You mention that you don't actually own the equipment and you have to pay ~$125/month for service, but when you pause the service during the off season is your bill zero dollars?
External antennas will almost always help with signal. You can pause for up to 90 days
Izzy & MJ thanks for your review. A little better than some others I have seen. I have decided to give it a try. However, when I went to their website and ordered the Nomad Travel Air I noticed there was no mention of the bag or battery backup. The order went through. After some follow up I found the Nomad Travel Air with Travel Bag under “Accessories”? It would not let me order just the Bag w/battery - it was trying to bill me for the complete set up again. A bit disappointed with their website and ordering structure. We’ll see if the device is as good as they claim. I will be looking for your follow up review on Nomad. I will be sure to share my feedback then as well.

Would you use the Nomad as a stand alone wifi or would you use it with the winegard rooftop antenna? Would it pull in any additional signal?
An external roof mounted antenna will help pull in signal better
I had 4G cel Nomad it was somewhat not working very good, but that was back in November just before their change. I work form the RV as a full timer i need the connectivity and it was not cutting it so i had to find another solution. Starlink has been flawless, the speed is fine but not always steady, the monthly fee is really too expensive. Nomad support where very very nice and supportive, will be considering Nomad again. Heather was very very nice.

Sorry for the experience you had in the past, but the great news it that we have upgraded our services to a much better one which is C-band i.e. we have the latest in 5G cellular technology. It provides improved coverage with fewer cell towers needed, resulting in wide area service capability.

@@nomad-internet We did not have a bad experience, it is only theat where we were in south carolina we were not getting service from any of the cel supplier. Verizon, AT&T or T-mobile.
Since Starlink is now getting more and more expensive we are considering giving Nomad an other try we we come back to USA :-)
So to pause the service during off season months, can that be done at will in the app, or do you have to call Nomad and have them do it? I’ve heard both ways now.

When a customer suspends data service, are the monthly charges for a month, or for a period of 30 days. Example, if you want to turn the data service on starting the 20th of the month and turn it off on the 10th of the following month, does the data charge span two months or one month?

Thank you for the information. I do notice that at @2:00 you state that changes made and they only go off of Verizon network now contradicts what we were told 2 weeks ago. What we were told was that instead of being carrier specific they now have contracted that the Air would pick up the best tower of the 3 carriers (Verizon, AT&T and Tmobile) depending on your location. I would be interested to hear if the Nomad rep, that is in the comments, can clarify. Thanks again.
There is a Verizon SIM card in our router it will only work on Verizon network. If you add a 2nd sim to a different carrier it would be capable of picking up that carrier also.

55+ with T-Mobile: a couple pays $60/mo for unlimited everything. Then just make 1 phone your Internet modem, and use 1 or 2 items hooked to the Internet. Cheap & decent. We have 140,000 miles on our Class A diesel pusher. It works for us. p.s. and we get 5g lots of places.
Received my Nomad Raptor this afternoon, having a few issues with the setup and called customer support and was put on hold for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the message changed and said that I had called after 5:00 pm central time (it was 2:00 pm central) and was was told to leave a voice message. This is not a good indication that they have gotten better with their customer service. I have a major issue with this, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm monday through friday is the only time that Nomad provides technical support, this is a joke. My confidence in Nomad is low at this point and I'm seriously considering returning the equipment.

Should i just get an extra line and put the sim into the Winegard or just go directly with Nomad? It seems to be Verizon either way but don’t know which is better. Thank you for your service.
Not sure what the specs are on the winegard but you always have 30 days to try the Nomad

When I talked to Nomad they told me you can pause, but only for 3 months at a time. Then you have to pay for the 4th month. In other words, you can pause 3 months pay for the 4th, and then pause for another 3 more months. You can’t pause indefinitely.

Eric from Nomadic Fanatic (UA-camr) has used Nomad RV internet for years and swears by it. He was in the infield for the Nascar race at Atlanta motor speedway where he had great service and Starlink was worthless. He has both and showed it. I like them.

I have been using the T-Mobile business service in an Inseego router and is have been great. I have ATT on my phone and it works better then that that. I'm in TX but have been up to Montana, Utah, CO and over to AL and it works great and it's only $50 per month! You can also add an iPad on for $10.

It’s WiFi 6 so it covers the entire area of our 37 ft motorhome
Hearing that Nomad doesn’t work well in the mountainous area in the west.
A lot depends on cellular coverage in the area for the carrier.
I saw a video about Nomad on another channel and it looked really fantastic. However, being the skeptic I am, I did some digging and was shocked by recent complaints to the Better Business Bureau. Also Reddit threads say it is a huge disappointment. So, from what I can see, "influencers" such as yourself and the other channel I subscribe to seem to think it's absolutely the best solution, but I couldn't really find any reviews by regular folks singing its praises. I'll stick with my Verizon jetpack and my MIMO antenna.
We never said it was the best solution. There is not 1 solution for everything. It’s just one solution that is available and we have had a good experience with it so far.

Great video, I watch another channel and he uploads all his content through Nomad, they even sponsor him. My one concern is he doesn't seem to spend much time in the western states and southwestern states. Wondering if anyone out there uses Nomad in those areas?
Depends on the Verizon coverage. No coverage no service.
With the expansion of the C-Band, coverage is supposed to be expanding to those areas where cell service isn't great. Our devices are designed to pick up the c-band signal first. Hi, we are Canadian (snowbird soon) and we would like to know if it's possible as a Canadian to have the service 12 months a years (6 months in US and 6 months in Canada) OR 6 months in US and pause it for the remaning 6 months in Canada ?
You can pause up to 90 days at a time
The catch is they give these guys a verizon sim card. You get something else. I noticed Nomadic Fanatic and others get great equipment, and they send regular customers plastic garbage. Buyer beware...you may get 3 to 6 months of decent cell reception as it is cell based. Not nearly worth the cost as you will get throttled endlessly....

I'm confused as to why this is so popular, I have seen multiple UA-camrs with recent videos on the Nomad (no disrespect whatsoever). I want a good option for Starlink more than anyone, but after doing research, the Nomad has very little coverage in the west (where most people are going to be "nomading") I posted the coverage link the other day on another channel under a comment from one of the Nomad employees. They never replied and now the link to their coverage map is down (404 error on both Chrome and Firefox), I LOVE this concept, but they have to get better coverage than what they currently have. Again it's really weird that they are pushing their product and don't even have a coverage map now. Other than that I appreciate the videos as always!
Just look at a coverage map for Verizon wireless. That should give you a good idea where the best coverage will be.

Okay, we camp in Ohio State Parks. Ohio State Parks are notoriously dead zones. Have you tested the Nomad in a mobile phone dead zone?
Hope this isn't a stupid question but it's $129 per month for the Nomad unlimited/unthrottled plan but does that also include the Verizon sim card or is that an additional charge from Verizon?

I tried Nomad using their SIM on my CradlePoint. They claimed it would be supported during the sales process. It didn't. Their customer service was flat-out awful. No callbacks as promised. The "expert" was never available. After 4 months, they couldn't get it to work. (mostly by not trying). I canceled and after more months got a refund. Maybe it will work with their own equipment but based on their poor customer support experience I would avoid.

It seems that the Nomad CEO has stepped down and was called out by another UA-camr for a previous scam. Another UA-camr has stopped promoting the company after he contacted the CEO and was given a very odd reply.

Is there any truth that they’re just reselling Visible SIM cards in a device with the imei adjusted to look like a phone? I’ve seen screenshots of Ookla speed tests on Nomad. The service provider shows as Visible? Can anyone that is on Nomad test that?

I'd love to know where you got a phone number from. Because they absolutely don't have one that I know of. They only do live chats or emails. Mostly emails in my experience. I never once directly spoke with anyone. They have the worst customer service of any company I've heard of. And one of the worst BBB scored I've ever seen. I would steer very far from them.

You didn’t mention about the dropping of service that they are known for. Works great and then all of a sudden doesn’t work and need new SIM card. Takes multiple days to get and sometimes it was the router and that’s even worse. Maybe they have changed since November, but before the service was horrible and Verizon would stop SIM cards periodically because nomad is a 3rd party and they can do that at anytime according to Verizon. Great review and video of explanations. I though about getting them back in 2020 but had numerous people tell me stay away and the more I looked and talked to people I decided against it. May look into again.
We did mention their bad reviews but what you’re saying is true. However we have personal experience with numerous other 3rd party carriers we have used in the past in which the service was shut off.
If you want guaranteed service go through the carrier but you likely won’t get unlimited/unthrottled service.

You can purchase the same router online at the 5G store for $799 and then bring it over to nomad for data plan. Then you own the router.

That is right, the membership fee is the lease of the device, which also includes if it were to ever mess up, we would replace it for free, along with the option to upgrade devices at any time and you will receive credit towards the purchase of the new device. Looking forward to future review while traveling the country. We live in a remote area. We get 0-1 bar Verizon. We have unreliable DSL. Power outages and poor service with DSL. Line repaired 5 times just this year. Tried STARLINK. They throttled us every evening during peak hours to basically no service. NOMAD might be a game changer for travel and the forgotten rural communities.
The upcharge of $200 is overpriced, "but we will talk about it later".
This feels like another infomercial from Endless RVing. Nomad is even responding to comments on the video after you respond. Not a good look.

Hopefully the UA-camrs for the RV industry will learn from this Nomad issue. It is sad how money hungry many of these UA-camrs have become. I realize you run your channels as businesses but many of you have turned to the dark side and spend more time constantly selling us stuff. Nomad paid huge fees to UA-camrs to give favorable reviews and whole videos. This blinded many of you UA-camrs and you did little to no due diligence. I’ve stopped watching many of these RV UA-camrs because I’m tired of constantly being sold stuff. Merchandise like shirts and hats to big sponsored products to just junk. We started watching you because we enjoyed the content. You all started with good content but then just sold out along the way to earn a buck. Now you have many folks who bought into this product (Nomad) because you told them too. Go back to content. Earn your Google money and stop selling us all of the other crap.
