    Most presenters are in a race to identify features of an app but do a miserable job of showing you how to access them and use them. You do not have that arrogant flaw; your pace is good, and you are an excellent teacher. Thank you ... thank you ... great job!

    This is so well organized, presented, and complete. Thank you for a most informative tutorial. So many others gloss over actions they take behind the scenes, creating more questions than answers.

    Thanks for the excellent presentation. Very well organized and thorough. I watched it three times all the way through and gone back to time spots for refreshers. This was badly needed to get started off right. Very well done.

    Great video! A lot of information, but clearly presented and vastly better than fumbling through the app hoping to discover what's there.

    I can't thank you enough. New Navionics user (ad of yesterday) and you seriously shortened my learning curve. I don't know if you are a teacher or not, but you have what it takes to be a first rate educator. Cheers.

    Super tutorial! Thanks for your clear, well paced presentation on mobile Navionics. You showed how to use the app and identified details of interest to boaters. The discussion and examples about current were especially helpful. Thank you ❤

    Active Captain was not originally developed by Garmin. Jeff Segal privately and generously developed and shared it with us users. BUT I am glad that Garmin bought it and uses it with the Navionics application.
    This is a great tutorial. Thank you.

    Great information and presentation! Can you tell me if the devise you choose to use needs to utilize a cellular signal for this app to work?

    • @robertpace5447
      @robertpace5447 2 роки тому

      The app needs gps data from some source. iPhones have gps but not all loads do. I have an iPad without a gps/cellular signal but I have an AIS system on my sailboat that has a WiFi network that I tie my iPad to. I also have the app on my iPhone which gives me two redundant systems

    • @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron
      @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron  Рік тому

      Once you download the data, it works offline. Some functions won’t work offline, such as weather. But I frequently use Navionics offline while “off the grid” when I’m in the islands.

    Hello dear captain.
    I appreciate your video because I need some advice before to applicate for navionics app.
    1.
    What brand and model of cellular is the best if someone won't to aplicate for navionics on a cellular for fishing ?
    2.
    Must I download a particular navionics app for fishing ?
    3.
    How much do l avionics app for fishing cost at august 2023 August ?
    Waiting to hear a according answer from you ?

    great video question. when it plots a route for you or boat too, does it take you there threw safe waters as far as deph and obstacles go and you can follow this without any troubles along the way?

  • @janecme

    Nice vid, thanks but Boating App doesn't display ALL the Lat/Long - it gets cut off and I've not found a way to see all the Long, which is baffling

    • @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron
      @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron  2 роки тому

      Yes I find this annoying too. What I do is to copy and paste the Lat/Long position buy long clicking / holding your finger over the coordinates and you'll see it copies it to the clipboard, and then paste it into a note or something so you get the entire coordinates. :)

    At 1:13:20 you say that Garmin created Active Captain years ago. That's not correct. Jeff Siegel and Active Corporation created Active Captain. The product was sold to Garmin in 2017.

    I can't get my tracks to show on my map after I make a track. I was looking for the yellow trail line that I can see I see data but no track to look at to see my COG. Usually don't follow as set course. I want to check speeds at certain points on my COG. I am using Android smart phone MOTO G POWER. It's 2 years old.
    I think app works on both my iPad and my android phone with one subscription. Thanks for any help.
    Right now in winter I'm using the app in my kayak not my boat so I can't use my iPad. Not sure if it yellow track line only works on Apple products?

    With respect, your Navionics account might be user based but it's not really if you use Apple mobile gear and a chart plotter. I've just setup my new iPad for my upcoming crossing, from Panama to Australia, and I had to purchase map data for my iPad and for my Zeus3 chart plotter separately - and the data cards for the latter are mega expensive on top of what I've additionally spent on my iPad charts. Yes, I realise this is possibly far less common that for coastal sailing but my point remains - I've setup my iPad principally as a backup but why should I have to pay twice?

    Made THREE attempts at using navionics over the years, because each time I was promised that the "glitches" have been worked out.
    Three times it did not work.
    Phone or ipad doesn't matter; there is always a problem. Once the problem is overcome, another is encountered and then another and another and ...
    I always carry paper charts, but should NOT have to go back to using them after I have PAID money for access to this software.
    Each time I believe I have solved things and go to leave an anchorage and turn on my device to use navionics, I find a problem. It is never the same issue; always a different problem for some reason and usually when I just want to have a relaxed sail with convenient easy to use charts on a cockpit device.
    Money seems to be plowed into marketing and advertising this product, with an efficient system to take money from users, but it does not work !!!!
    It never bloody works.
