I absolutely LOVE your videos, just discovered them yesterday...I am binge-watching them until I fall over...so interesting....I live in southern Arizona in the US

Welcome back! It was the same for us up North. Too much snow to get to the good spots. I couldn't get any decent footage for a video for 6 months. Last weekend it all changed though. Again, glad to see you back and ready to enjoy this coming season. Cheers!

Martin, Thank you so very much for doing the 10 Questions Challenge. I really enjoy your videos. And I love the places you go. It's so beautiful there. It is nice to get to know you better. Take care my friend -Mike
Very informative and entertaining , beautiful surroundings well filmed and good clarity , also good to hear a person ,comfortable and ingrained within his local area , one thing your lucky living close to such Beauty, and don't feel the pressing need to travel away when you have what you appreciate on your doorstep , so many people miss this point ☝️ l likened it to people who row away from the shore when fishing only to cast back to where they were . Just to get out and feel your shoulders drop close to hand is a great way to relax thank you for sharing 👌
Fine information on sound and camera use for outdoor projects. Like you, I do not want to spend the time on the road to 'get there and then to get back again.' I like to hike and camp within a hour radius from where I have lived. The joy of walking and camping is to appreciate nature while also trying out camp equipment and skills....and relaxing by a real fire. Thanks for sharing!
I really like your attitude about outdoor adventures. You do not have to walk five hundred miles from home to enjoy the outdoors. No one but you can set the rules for your adventure Att leva I Norge eller sverige gör det förstås enklare att njuta av naturen. Atb Jonas

Welcome back Martin. I am so glad to see you back in the Norweigen woods,i have to admit i was worried for a while something had happened to you lol. This video could not have been better timing,it was exactly the medicine i needed today after a rough week. Your honesty and sincerety shines through in all you do,keep up the good work. Fantastic! iam back late after a long stressful day at work and I can sit and relax home and be at a nice campfire getting to know you a bit more.. really enjoyed that simple & friendly atmosphere of that video, I totally agree agree with the confort zone extension, this extension of the confort zone is an extension of your own freedom. Hope to see you soon.. take care
Hello Mathieu. Spending time in the woods is good in so many ways. I hope we can manage to do a trip this summer :) Thanks a lot for stopping by - Martin

Great sound of that microphone and not a bad price for what you get, iv made all my videos from my phone and I'm sure that shows but now I have bigger plans for my channel to tour and wildcamp by motorcycle I can carry a bit more gear than long distance on foot so if I do get a DSLR camera iv made a note of this microphone because I'm very happy of the quality of your videos. Thanks ,mike.
I like the microphone a lot so far. You could also look into some microphone adapters for your phone. There are some good ones out there. Hey Martin: Thank you for your insight into Azden Mics, came along at a perfect time as I have been reviewing Mic's for my camera. I appreciate your review and being able to hear the quality for myself from your last two videos. I would enjoy hearing more about your audio suggestions and experience in a future video. Thank you again!
Love that tent can’t get them here in Australia, I have contacted the company to see what they can do in getting one over here but don’t like my luck. I hope and wish I could get one shipped over here because I want one. Tipi’s are one of the best types of tents....
The tent is really nice. This stye has become very popular here in Norway lately. They are the traditional style of the Sami people of the north of Scandinavia. They call it a Lavvu. Good luck in hunting one down :) Thanks for watching - Martin
I know you are interested into learning the outdoors one thing I mention don't cut the limbs off the any kind of Pines spruce or whatever all the way to the trunk leave 10 in or so
Hi Martin I have to agree with you on the servival question. I think it's important to be comfortable with being outside in the wild. If you know you can make a fire and learn all you can about your own area there's not many surprises there so you feel easy and calm in the knowledge that you will be able to live or survive if you need to. I always struggle with audio and especially lighting if you have any more tips you think may be of help I'd be interested to hear your opinion and views. Keep the great videos coming I enjoy watching you in the woods. All the best for your coming camps. Jason (Wild_nestarond).
Thanks a lot for stopping by my friend. I will talk a bit more about audio in future videos. If there is anything specific you struggle with, just ask. I will answer as best as I can :) - Martin

Hi Martin! Good to see you back again with new videos :) Actually this was an extra great vid for me to look at, cause im also going for a new camera system and also a new mic. Thanks for a great video m8!
I really enjoy your videos man. Keep em coming. If you want some little black rooster tails i would be more than happy to send you a few. It will definilty help you catch more trout. I have new ones in the package. Thats all i use for trout. THey have to be black with a silver spinner. Can't even have black with a black spinner or a gold spinner. Has to be black with a silver spinner. I would like to see if they work as well there for trout as they do here in pittsburgh, pa. If you ever want to do some camping and hiking here in the states Id be more than happy to invite you on over, we have the appalachian mountains. Lots of lakes and streams.
Thank you my friend. I have bought some new fishing lures during the winter. Some of them are black with silver spinners. I think I will try them out before I get any more. - Martin
Det var jo svært så trivelegt å sjå dykk att! Heilt fantastisk koselege videoer du stelle i stand. Me heiar på deg, og håpar på masse flere videoar frå deg i året me er i.
Mysig video med härlig vildmarkskänsla. Snygga kompositoner och härligt djup i delar av videon. Har själv tänkt att börja filma lite med min smartphone. Mvh L-G
I found your channel a few days ago. I have been watching many of your videos and find each one interesting and fascinating. Norway is on my bucket list of places to vist to do some camping and photography. I have to ask one question, where do you find your sweaters? I know, weird question..lol
Sound advice Martin(excuse the pun). It was good to listen to your Q&A and get to know you a little better. The microphone talk has given me great food for thought especially in regard to wind noise. I have tried to dampen it in the past with either video editing software or placing a glove over the in built camera mic but to no great avail. After listening to your advice I'm considering sometime in the future buying an external mic and was wondering in your opinion are there any other factors I should consider in choosing one? Thank you for a very comprehensive, sincere and interesting video. I look forward to your future audio related topics and forest adventures-Brian.
If your camera has a flash shoe and a microphone input I would suggest looking at a microphone that you put on the camera. It is easier to set up and works pretty good for the outdoors. There are many options on the market so look around UA-cam for reviews and sound samples. In general, look for high output, low self noice and possibility for a good windjammer. Stereo works best for nature sounds, mono works best for speech. It is next to impossible to make a bad recording sound good in post production. Try to get it right when you do the recording. Hope this helps a bit. More videos on audio is coming up later :) Thanks for watching - Martin
Your use of the word 'ambient' has me amazed. It is hardly a word used often in daily speech and yet you used in proper context. I may have asked before, but how did your knowledge of English come about?
Hello Ray. I guess I have picked up my English from a lot of places. When I was in Australia for 10 months I learned a lot. I also read a few English books from time to time. The word "ambient" is used in the sound world. We use a lot of English words in the sound profession. Norway is a small country and we tend to use the established terms in stead of making up new ones in Norwegian. Thanks for stopping by - Martin
Hello Martin! As usual this is interesting video! Thank you! Martin, if you someday be in Tbilisi, Georgia - contact me and we can made very nice trip or campfire in the mountains. Good luck!
The area is called Østfold. I do most of my camping right next to the Swedish border. Let me know if you manage to travel to my part of the world. I guess you are right about New Zealand. It is very far away from here :) Thanks for stopping by - Martin
Hi, you're a sound guy! Yes, I'm interested. I can't say I'm at your level, but I'm learning at least. And yes, good sound indeed. (And many nice photos.) I have the Zoom H6 and they have a short shotgun mid/side combo as an extra for that, which I find quite interesting. But this is just as well. And that tripod for the coffee pot seemed light and nice. I have been wanting for a grill, but this should do most of the job. Where did you find it?
Sound and audio recording is a lot of fun. Just take your time and try out stuff. The H6 is supposed to be a good recorder. I have used the Zoom H4 a few times. The mics you have should cover most situations. I will do more audio stuff in the future. The pot stand is this one www.eagleproducts.no/produkt/balfyr-kokestativ/ It is from a Norwegian company called Eagle Products. My plan is to talk a lot more about their gear in my next video :) Thanks for stopping by - Martin
The Zoom H6 works for a lot of things, and the most imortant to me is it has actual volume knobs for the input. The mics that come with it are okay if a bit tinny, the major drawback is I believe they're electrets and not all that great quality either, so they get noisy at max volume. Which is a bummer when you try to get hold of the silence out in nature. You get what you pay for. But for voice recordings I think it's okay. Thank you for the tip on the pot stand. I have several of their products, it's just that most shops don't keep more than a tiny selection of the things they sell. So thanks.
It is a challenge to capture the quiet sounds of nature. Too bad the really good stuff is so expensive. I have a mic setup that I am going to talk about in a later video that I think is really interesting :)
I'll look forward to that. One think I've been thinking is, the Rode NT,1 new version, are really silent and not all that expensive. But they're large diagraphm and I would have to make my own wind sock for a pair of them, it would be rather clunky to bring along and I don't know if my Zoom recorder has silent enough electronics for it anyway. So I'm all ears for suggestions. Power is not really an issue at least, as the Zoom can feed off USB power banks.
Rode makes some good microphones. I have not used the NT1 before. They are large diaphragm mics, so you need to make some proper wind protectors for them. I would look around for some small diaphragm condensers if you plan on using them primarily for field recordings. Preferably with omni pattern. A XY setup with cardioids will sound good, but you get a wider sound with a AB setup with omnis. The smaller mics might be a bit easier to shield from the wind also. The mics I am going to demo later on is a pair of Soundman OKM II binaural microphones. The binaural recording technique is really cool :) There is a lot of interesting ways to do recordings. I would guess you will get great quality audio with a pair of NT1´s also. They are good for a lot of other stuff too.
Hello Ray. I did manage to do one real winter camp this winter. Did not bring the camera though... We have had more snow than usual around here this winter and it has been hard to get around on the small roads with my puny VW Polo. I do enjoy winter camping a lot. One day I will get a dog :) Thanks for stopping by - Martin
Hello. I still use it from time to time. I have not checked out the new version. I guess it will be very similar to the old one. It has a bit less output than some other mics on the marked. It also has a slightly higher self noice than some of my other microphones. The versatility of being able to use it both as a stereo and a mono mic is great. I dont think the new option of gradually change between the two is all that useful in real life. At least for me I either need stereo or mono. When I am out making videos I have a lot of stuff to manage so I dont think this is something I would use at all. Hope this was useful :) - Martin
@@YoussefHallouly I have never tested the Røde NTG, but I have a Deity D3 Pro. I think these microphones are pretty similar. If you primarily will be using it for dialoge I think the NTG will be the better choice. If you are planning to shoot a lot of B-roll and capture ambiance I would go for the SMX-30. You get a lot more realistic feel of a space with a stereo microphone. The SMX-30 is a pretty good compromise between cost and quality. If you want a better stereo mic you would have to pay more money.
1) The most dangerous thing that can happen when camping with other people is when one person starts playing music on their I Phone. That's very very dangerous.....for them. 2) When did camping and self-sufficiency become survival and prepping ? I absolutely reject those new hi-jacked terms. 3) My favourite meal in the Norwegian Woods is Moose Cakes with a 24 pack of Aass Fat øl. 4) My dream trip is to go to Svalbard in mid January. No, wait....already done that..... 5) The heaviest weight I carry is the burden of knowledge that 80% of the world's population is stupid. 6) Congratulations on deleting FacelessBook. You're better off without it. Another enjoyable and relaxing video. My favourite channel on you tube. Skål

I found your channel a few days ago. I have been watching many of your videos and find each one interesting and fascinating. Norway is on my bucket list of places to vist to do some camping and photography. I have to ask one question, where do you find your sweaters? I know, weird question..lol
Great video Martin 👌
Thanks :)

More videos on audio is coming up later :)
Thanks for watching - Martin
Thanks for your advice Martin it was most helpful and you have given me much to consider. :)
Did you enjoy your trip to Australia ?
Nice one my friend
Thanks :)

Cool video again Mate.
Thanks :)

What is the name of the manufacturer of that small kettle you use to boil your water? Its shape and size seem really well thought out.
The kettle is from Eagle Products. I just posted a video about a lot of their gear ua-cam.com/video/Rux32s3kUSQ/v-deo.html

Hello Martin! As usual this is interesting video! Thank you!
Martin, if you someday be in Tbilisi, Georgia - contact me and we can made very nice trip or campfire in the mountains.
Good luck!
Thank you for the offer my friend. I will give you a heads up if I plan to go there some time :)
Thanks for watching - Martin
Thank you Martin!
Which part of south-east Norway are you in? I ask because I'm thinking of travelling there sometime in 2019, would be awesome to catch up with you.
By the way, I think New Zealand might be further from Norway than Australia!
The area is called Østfold. I do most of my camping right next to the Swedish border. Let me know if you manage to travel to my part of the world. I guess you are right about New Zealand. It is very far away from here :)
Thanks for stopping by - Martin
10/10 for stemning som vanlig mister. Veldig fin foto og bra lyd så vidt jeg kan bedømme. :)
Takk for det :)

Takk for fin video. Hvor her i Norge er det du camper? Østlandet? Stå på!:-)
Jeg camper stort sett langs svenskegrensen sør i Østfold. Flere videoer kommer snart :)
Takk for at du titter innom - Martin
Beautiful shot! What kind of camera are you using?
My plan is to talk a lot more about their gear in my next video :)
Thanks for stopping by - Martin
The binaural recording technique is really cool :)
There is a lot of interesting ways to do recordings. I would guess you will get great quality audio with a pair of NT1´s also. They are good for a lot of other stuff too.
Hey Martin! Why no winter camping? And why don't you have a big bushy dog?
Hello Ray. I did manage to do one real winter camp this winter. Did not bring the camera though... We have had more snow than usual around here this winter and it has been hard to get around on the small roads with my puny VW Polo. I do enjoy winter camping a lot. One day I will get a dog :)
Thanks for stopping by - Martin
Good to see you back at it. I would have liked to see your area in winter. Regardless, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Hey do you still use the Azden SMX-30 microphone ? are you also aware of the new SMX-30V what do you think about it? Thanks
Hope this was useful :)

@@NorwegianWoods great thanks im debatting against this and the Rode video mic NTG
@@NorwegianWoods Thanks ok that’s really helpful:)
1) The most dangerous thing that can happen when camping with other people is when one person starts playing music on their I Phone. That's very very dangerous.....for them.
2) When did camping and self-sufficiency become survival and prepping ?
I absolutely reject those new hi-jacked terms.

It's getting so dark that I think you need to start watching out for the Nisse.
The Nisse comes around in the night some times and messes up the camp setup :)
Thanks a lot for stopping by - Martin
