Looks great. It would be a good idea to run cold water to the side when your draining hot water from the stove. It will help the plastic pipes from forming a leak over time.
I prefer to do it afterwards. I like to cook the starch on the rice because it helps with not overcooking the rice that would then make it gummy. Thanks for watching; be blessed.

Looks delicious! Another option for the rice is to cook it the day before and refrigerate it. It fries up nicely from cold. God bless
