I never ended up pursuing the certificate (might go back for it when I have time though…), but the Google IT program gave me the confidence I needed to pursue an IT career. Now, despite having no certifications (and just about six months after having first learned about Google’s program), I’m working as a desktop administrator and make awesome money (considering this is my first IT job). Hopefully some time soon this certificate starts to get the respect it deserves. A proctored exam would be better… but the Google program taught me far better than CompTia training did.
Congrats! Since you don't have any certifications, what helped you get the job? I'm job hunting (working on getting certs) and feel like I'm missing something. Experience? Or something else?
@@AMCW90 Internships, word of mouth, events and meetups, temporary agencies, subscriptions (to sites, events, newsletters, local businesses) etc. These helped me land an IT career and I'm still trying to improve and learn more. Never stop.
As a soon to be sysadmin college student, this was super interesting to listen to! Gave me a very good grasp on the basics of the role and what I am getting into. Thank you!

Do you need a masters in system administration or computer science in order to to get the job or would getting a certification from coursera be enough.
I have viewed this tutorial before. It's really great. I was wondering if you offer any of your lecture as a course on any of e-learning platform? I would appreciate obtaining a recognized credential.
Yes! This video is from the Google IT Support Certificate. To access the full certificate program, including assessments and hands-on labs, you can take it through Coursera: goo.gle/47Xwmmk. Once you complete the program on Coursera, you will receive your certificate!
If you complete the certificate program on Coursera, you’ll get job search support, including 1-on-1 coaching, interview practice, and access to a job board. AI will take over. It's going to take 10 years at least usually
If every company on earth becomes one and no one ever does anything different from another, then yea, maybe it’ll go extinct. Highly doubt it though
