This is for a build where you have roads that are paved well. Drive in a country that you have potholes every two seconds, stanced setups are basically two ton paperweights. We definitely need a lot more rubber to cushion the ride, and not break rims every two minutes.
And yet. For whatever reason I still see so (relatively) many stance builds. Respect all builds but I cringe every time I see one. Because I know I could never do it. With or without the money or intent to fix each and every thing each and every time.

The really giant wheels, where you've gone way beyond trading tire for wheel, are actually bad for your drive train as well, you're putting the drivetrain at an increased mechanical disadvantage trying to turn the larger diameter.
Thanks @Fitment Industries for putting out good information. A coupla decades ago, I wanted the biggest/widest I could afford ... which wasn't much. I have wheels and tires that are 2 1/2 inches wider than recommended, but only 1 inch bigger in diameter. There isn’t a problem with the ride quality but it does walk all over if the road isn’t completely flat.
I went from a 215/70-15 on factory thunderbird wheels to 245/45-18 on nice niche wheels and love it. It is quite a bit rougher, but handles like a dream. I imagine the same kind of change will come when I get some lowering springs.

I know for a fact that larger rims look really cool on a car and a wider tire is excellent for grip, but the less rubber you have from low profile tire the crappier it feels inside the car, the more rubber you have between the rim and the tire the more it absorbs noise and vibration, those stock tires look ok and there also made for a purpose, companies spend millions on perfecting the ride, once you alter that with low profile tires that comfort smoothness will be gone and road noise will increase, I guess that's the price you pay for looking cool.

Well ride quality is up to the setup of the vehicle. These "Nascar" looking setups can be stuff due to the stiff sidewall. Meats doesn't mean good ride quality. Also if your suspension is slammed then no matter what you run the ride quality is gone. It is really up to how the user sets up their ride. Set it up just right and the ride quality can be good no matter what size wheels you put on your car. I have done it all and the best riding vehicles have been german luxury cars on larger wheels. The suspension setup does a great job.
Great Video! Question would a larger than stock wheel setup effect a manual or automatic transmission. Is that safe or damaging to the engine/transmission?
Now days even stock cars come on really small tires just to either look fast or accommodate extra large brakes . It gets to the point of you are going to drive more than an hour you will get back pain and you can forget about road trips completely basically making the car almost useless.
After my xperience, the tire hight(stock) + max 10%.... since most car speedometer is 4-10% wrong. But its all preferance on what people want.. been working with rims/tires for 10yrs..
Just recently swapped out my stock 16s. I wanted to 19 but the guy at the shop strongly advised me not to n to go 18 n im definitely glad i did. My 18s dont have ne step lips, just straight up 5 spoke so they look a lil bigger.
On older Honda's, there isn't much point in going higher than 15" wheels. 16" wheels can look cool sometimes, but honestly, meaty tire set ups are where it's at. Or even a stretched tire set up.
I would like to make a suggestion. Buy the rims you want, but buy used tires in the profile that you want and have them mounted. Evaluate the ride and if you like it, buy new tires with that profile. Or maybe just get a great idea of performance and ride quality and go up or down in sizing.

Note big wheel means more weight wich makes acceleration and breaking slower but wider wheels means more grip snd traction, taller diameter alows for even more surface area, (for trains it alows for more area from the center pin to the crank pin (not its name) so the crank pin is further away from center and in the edge of wheel alowing for more power as much larger spin on each rotation well smaller wheels have a shorter rotation so can do more in the same amount of time alowing greater speed but less power and greater chance of wheel slip also alowing for more wheels for more stability and surface area

With all of the bad roads and potholes here I went back to the stock 17" on my 07 STI but I have fender flares now and I run a 275/45r17 tire on a 9.5" wide rim. Loads of grip and more comfort than 18's. I'm over 18" for daily driving, 1 nasty pothole and 2 F'ed wheels convinced me of that. I wouldn’t go any bigger than 18s on the 86 platform. When I bought my frs used it had 19s and while they looked good you’re going to need rubber band tires and the ride is harsh.
We do sell Vossen Wheels, but do not appear to have that model on the site. Shoot us an email at wheels@fitmentindustries.com and we can get sizing that works for you!
18x7.5 to 19x9 +33 I noticed the weight of the wheel right away. Other than that they look great and no stretch no scrape Mk6 GLI
Just bought some wheels/tires... Worst thing about them is that I bought them secondhand and couldn't support y'all :((
Could use advice. I have a 2019 wrx base. Looking to go to an 18" over my stock 17" 235/45. I want a bit of a meaty set up. Anyone got any knowledge of running that type of setup that still looks and rides decent?
With all of the bad roads and potholes here I went back to the stock 17" on my 07 STI but I have fender flares now and I run a 275/45r17 tire on a 9.5" wide rim. Loads of grip and more comfort than 18's. I'm over 18" for daily driving, 1 nasty pothole and 2 F'ed wheels convinced me of that. Plus, 17" tires are cheaper then 18" tires and not to mention the mental health when an unexpected pothole/bump appears out of nowhere.
Larger? Heck that, I’m going SMALLER. Stock 19s on my Veloster is too much.
uh i want to downsize in every way for better mpg. narrower and smaller rim size...
Can y’all do a so you want a 2nd gen Lexus next?
Solution: Just get a taller tire.
Holes reference 👍. Gels zeroni!
so you want a 92 mustang foxbody
Just bought a set of BC coil-overs
I went from a 16x7 rim to a 20x8. Runs slightly at full lock
I'm running Ferrada FR4's 20x9.5 front and 20x10.5 +28 offset on a BMW F30. It wasn't easy making these shits fit!
I have 16 inch rims on my Honda accord, can I safely upsize to 17 or 18 ? What tire size should I go with,?
yes you can! Check out our gallery for some good examples of different specs that work for your car! -> www.fitmentindustries.com/wheel-offset-gallery?sort=available
