Pond Deck’s almost FINISHED! (will our littlest inspector approve?)

- Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Lydia is the real heart of y'alls home. She is a wonderful spirit!!!
You can totally use real wood on a curved edge like your deck. It's called a "kerf." Use a circular saw to make cuts 3/4 of the way through the board, about half an inch to 1 inch apart, the whole length of the board. It's such a cool trick! I hope you guys look it up, because it's exactly what you're after.

That was such a FUN video with Willow running all over the place....she's so cute, I was giggling with you all. The deck is looking good over the pond, can't wait to see it all done. I know you guys are so happy you did this. Oh, and the mulberries...yum! What did you end of making with them? I thought Lydia's idea of Mulberry Ice Cream sounded good.
So there was this tree in my backyard when I was little and me and my siblings would pick the fruit that would grow from it and we never knew what they were. we just thought they were funny looking grapes and we ate them. But the tree was huge and it shaded the entire back yard. Seeing that you have a mulberry tree and that looks exactly like the fruit we had is amazing. I'm 17 now and I'm quite upset we moved from the tree. When we'd walk in or back yard with out shoes our feet and hands would be stained red and purple and our mom would throw us in the bath. I miss those days.

Back when I was a child we would climb the mulberry tree eating as we went. By far the best berry ever! I don't know which I enjoy more, watching willow or your beautiful family..... You have great kids (human)!!!!!👍👍👍

I think most woods don't hurt anything unless they are treated with something. In the aquarium hobby they tend to turn the water brown as they release tannin's, but it doesn't bother the fish. My main worry with construction lumber would be that it have some chemical on it.
I believe you can smoke the wood in water and fabric sofener to help it bend as well.
I've read the golden ones are broody. I guess the beginning of this supports that.

I remember my dad soaking wood boards to nail together to make arches for our Quonset greenhouse in Northern Minnesota back the late 1970's.
Well in my city its raining so much i just sit down and have some coffee and watch you guys videos

We had four or five mulberry trees. My then, young children helped me pick the berries by climbing up to the higher limbs and shaking them. I soon realized I had to protect their light hair from staining. My solution - shower caps. lol We all felt it was well worth it.
