Nice job on the referb......Had a stopover there on my NPT solo through hike and appreciate the fruits of your labor. It was raining and the lean=-to was a welcome refuge to sit in a dry place and have a snack.
Laughed out loud at 16:10! Hilarious! Great video! Huge, HUGE thank you to you and everyone in your crew that helped rebuild that Lean-To! I can't tell you how much that really is appreciated! It's people like you that help make the ADK experience that much more special. Hats off to all of you!
Thank you for sharing your gratitude. There are a lot of people out in the Daks that spend a lot of time maintaining shelters and trails. I'm glad you got a laugh out of our "cruelty". We enjoy busting chops...I'll get mine eventually! Hahaha
WOW! That was incredible Tony! I have signed up to help Lean2Rescue this year! Looks like a great experience of comradery, friendship and accomplishment. Jeff
It was really neat to see how the lean to changed over the course of the year. It looks so different! I'll have to make a point to stay there sometime soon. Maybe I'll get lucky and catch you there sometime. Cheers.
I hiked from Lake Placid to Long Lake on Nov 9th and found quite a bit of blow down. I would like to help clear some of these obstacles in the spring. What are the rules to do so? Good video and thanks.
Tom, the trail steward for each section of trail will usually take care of their section. The are "chainsaw windows" in wilderness areas each fall and early spring for a short period to take out the larger blowdown. I think the NPT chapter may have cleared some of the Long Lake blowdown late fall if I remember correctly. Join the NPT facebook page and you will see when they get groups together for trail maintenance. They plan a few trips a year.
Tom ... check out this site www.nptrail.org/ and look for their chapter sponsored activities. This group does a bit of trail maintenance at scheduled times during the year. As a former trail section adopter, I KNOW they'd be happy to have your help on one of their work trips!
