My husband spent more than a few nights at that spot, in times before the re-build, on his way in and out of the Cold River country. He was 'adopter/caretaker' of the Moose Pond Lean-To for a year, back in 1999, as well. From there, down to the Cold River #4 Lean-To is one of his favorite spots on earth. He's still with me, but too old to hike/backpack, any longer. He has requested that some of his ashes be scattered near Rondeau's, when he checks out - our son will grant that wish. Be well, stay safe. 🥾
What a perfect trip Tony!! Even though there is a lot more mud this time of year, I love how everything is exposed from the weight of snow beating down the vegetation! Short and sweet video man!!
The funny thing is, of the many trips I have made into Moose Pond at different times of year, this is the driest I have ever seen it. The last few days of sun, heat, no precipitation, and no leaved out trees have really dried out the woods.
The black flys and I were there a few days ago.. I always take a dip myself and imbibe in some refreshment while doing so. I went on to Duck Hole and up the Cold River a ways . Always a pleasure. Thanks for sharing. PeaceY
There are a lot of Moose Ponds. Lol Moose Pond is about 8.5 miles south from the northern terminus of the NPT. There is a short spur trail about 6.5-7 miles to Wanika Falls.

Beautiful, little story. That is a special area and I’m happy to hear your husband loves it like I do. Be well.😊
Thanks for keeping that lean to looking great, the replacement shelves look amazing! Loved our stay there in the fall. Great vid as always, Tony!
Why thank you for the kind words!😁

The heat must have drove the black flies away temporarily. We only had one instance for an hour or so where they were actually biting. Peace brother!😁
With so many Moose Ponds, where is this trailhead? And does the trail pass that water falls?
