- I motorized a Tuggy sandbox last year, then the state told me it's not a legal boat! So Instead, I made it an R/C toy, that just happens to tow other boats! We took Tuggy out for a trip on the lake recently and it works great to tow around multiple kayaks!

Tuggy is cool. Seen some other videos where people build them as well. One day someone with some fiberglass skills is going to build a full size tuggy with a big motor on it and it will be wicked cool!
Best FUN r\c I have seen in a long time. I mean yeah most r\c vehiclees are a blast to use but this one would just be the childhood to adult vunhaver that absolutely covers all things childhood backyard fun thrown on to a body of water. I really did enjoy having a sandbox to play in 50 years ago.

Fun fact I used to troll (fishing) commercially, and knew some people who trawled. And yes they're pronounced differently :-)

Gabe, as an RC guy, your ESC will fry unless it is properly cooled. Air cooled works for planes, but for boats that have it sealed (yours in the ammo box) you need to attach the ESC to a metal water cooled jacket with one side inlet behind the propeller to bring the water in. You will need to lower your ammo box, otherwise the water will have to fight the height differential. Happy it worked this time but beware it will fail due mosfets overheating.

Good to see zombie boy back at the wheel! 🤣I bet you'll notice that the voltage will sag a lot less over time with the lipos's, and the esc for a brushed motor can handle a lot more than the relays, and it uses pwm for speed control, so they stay fairly cool/warm and shouldn't bbq. I have a Flysky i6x, it's does a great job and isn't expensive, if you want to change remotes. Good video, looking forward to the others 👍

The DNR(?) is full of it. They are programed to collect dollars.
Speed controllers have a safety lockout to prevent you powering up at full throttle. Generally you have to bring the throttle to zero or perform some sequence of stick movements before it will accept input after powering on. Read the instructions that came with your speed control.

Such a remote-controlled toy boat is really a fine thing. The doll looks a bit like Chucky, I always hear "Chucky boat." Those are very nice batteries, they have the right capacity for the boat. If you connect both in parallel, it should last for many hours to chase the sea monster. The prices for LFP cells are currently dropping, so there should be affordable batteries on the market in the future.

Might try two trolling motors on a kayak. They aren't really designed for speed though, more for torque/thrust on heavy boats, so I'm not really sure about top speed.
Now 3d print a benchy and use that as your tug.

So for stearing you were using a relay switched h-bridge, and may be using that again, perhaps with higher capacity relays... (Mentally trying to remember if we use a capacitor or resistor (or combination which doesn't sound right) to reduce arcing, which might affect functionality.)
I was out in my canoe today peddling along thinking about adding an electric motor to turn my paddlewheels. I wonder if doing that you could consider that a trolling motor

Yeah I had clamps for car batteries, but the fancy Lithium batteries use a different size terminal!
Might negate your kayak registration by having them not powered by a person. I've read about it for sails in the watercraft book my state puts out.. I can't add one without paying the higher regular boat registration vs the almost nothing one for "human powered only".
Wire the two batteries in parallel to just get more capacity and not needing to switch them yourself.
I kind of like the remind that it's time to switch batteries, that way I know when I need to turn around!

this is gonna be big
change out the zombie kid for a christmas tree/turkey/apprpriate holiday deco and then give it an anchor with anchor control and some remote sensing operations such as a remote weather station windspeeds temp humidity and the such as or a live cam of the lake. or even better an underwater cam for fish in the river/lake. all kinds of cool stuff to do with a remote on the water station platform you have created
The speed controller needs to be calibrated for minimum and maximum throttle. Without this it will not arm as it would be dangerous if you powered it on with throttle enabled. The manual for the ESC will tell you how to do calibrate it.
I'm surprised you could keep the video on track after losing the fitbit. I would have immediately started fishing for it.
