Time after time, year after year, i keep coming back to this one... This interpretation is pure genius. I've heard the 6th many many times before earing this version, yet it seems i never really heard it. Maestro Jarvi and the orchestra did so well. Thank God and Beethoven for this gift to mankind.
While I admire the Fifty, The Seventh and The Ninth a lot, The Sixth is my favourite. This is one of the finest performances I have ever heard and/or seen; the best for Symphony #6. The Thunderstorm and Shepherd's song parts I liked the most. Jarvi and the musicians have done great justice to the masterpiece. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I can't ever decide whether one is better than another. Each conductor and orchestra gives a different interpretation and character to a piece. Sometimes I'm in the mood for one particular version.
Pastorale easily the best representation of Beethoven in the bridge between classical and romantic -- what an incredible performance! Look up the rest of Jarvi tour it's all incredible!
Absolutly! Wonderful performance and sound recording! The camera work could have followed along better, but so happy this performance was captured for us to see, the conductor's interpretation was refreshing, a joy to hear :)
This is the greatest piece of music ever written. And that comes from a jaded music fan whose tastes range from classical to industrial. This symphony re-unites us with nature. With ourselves. Beethoven was an utter genius.
Geoff P Well said Geoff, my music flits between the likes of Killing Joke to the avant garde but Herr Beethoven's music is the vibrational link between we human's and nature and the primordial forces itself. "What you are , you are by accident of birth, what I am, I am by myself. There are and will be a thousand Princes : There is only one Beethoven" said the man himself.
Happy birthday to the great Ludwig van Beethoven I am watching this Jarvi version after barenboim bbc promenade at the Albert victoria hall, simply deeply healing myself
The first movement of this masterpiece gives me the same peace and exhilaration as a walk deep in the woods exposed to the cacophony of natural sounds like the soft wind fluttering the canopy of trees, and sound of the fauna lurking surrounding me. This piece will ever be my favorite!
Can I just say, while I love the cinematography in general of these recordings of Beethoven’s symphonies, I really love the cinematography of the storm movement here. It really adds a punch to it.
You are 100% on the nail there Gaspare, some of the more lofty music critic types often dismiss this wonderful creation as being 'simplistic' and even 'trivial'. It is neither of these things, it is a profound expression of joy, of light, of the beauty of the world...which is no small accomplishment-it is often easier to express sorrow than joy. Bravo Beethoven! Respect and appreciation always.
It's interesting because the third fifth and ninth are the 3 symphonies with the biggest orchestras. Perhaps people were simply more impressed by those symphonies because of the amount of musicians (compared to symphonies 2, 4, 8 for instance, which did not push the envelope in this respect at all)
For me, the most satisfying of all the Beethoven symphonies. And, has there ever been better writing for woodwind and brass in any symphony - by anyone?
The videographer did a fantastic job! I was just going to listen, but I ended up watching. It is great to see not only the conductor, but the musicians up close. Thank you!
the part after the storm is my favourite piece, it brings me sweet memories of many years ago when the streets were much safer and neighbours more friendly
In memories of my late beloved Mother and infant me and my beautiful birthplace This wonderful masterpiece is memories of my infant In birthplace itself
What a great performance of this wonderful symphony. Intelligent, passionate, sensitive and so vital! The cinematography was astonishingly good - the camera was always in the right place at the right moment. You could see the musicians were really enjoying it, and Jarvi was with them every step of the way. Thanks so much for posting this amazing video!
That's a supreme simphony! It is one of the best ever written!!! It awakes all the positiveness in our mind even in the most sad days!! Great execution by the Director and his orchestra too!!! =) whenever I hear this song my childwood comes back!!! =) whenever I hear this song my childwood comes back!!!
Awesome. Just awesome. Love this symphony. Heard it in the morning and I'm so happy! I just love the conductor's evil face when the thunderstorm is about to start. It cracks me up all the time.
Spring! Brightness! and "Pastorale" of Beethoven! Believe me, this performance will make your happiness. The 6th WAS my unfavorite symphony in the Beethoven's symphonies. Because, it was boring..... But such a LIVELY performance gives me a huge happiness and feeling of living joy. Very warm clarinet tones, sensitive different nuance of other wind instruments, comfortable clear non vibrato strings and smiles of several players. 4th movement? Yeah!! Very exciting "Thunder" by ancient trumpet & timpani! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
wonderful performance. perfect tempi throughout and a lovely unforced sound from the orchestra even in the storm. The finale can sometimes seem a little repetitive, especially at this tempo but this was just joyful and lyrical. Just excellent!
This is how all orchestras should be: completely getting into the music, physically, emotionally, in every way. And why shouldn't they; this piece encapsulates everything about music, nature and life!
The comfort of this symphony is off the charts This masterpiece great performers play with exquisite skill is reminiscent of the rural landscape of my birthplace. this is the most BEAUTIFUL piece of music ever written. I`d like it played at my funeral to introduce all my friends and family to it. They will leave feeling happy and at peace with the world, and yeah I agree the conductor is having a ball, how could he not?

Me too!
Me too! Paavo Jarvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilarmonie Bremen fantastic
I've never seen an orchestra and a conductor be so comfortable and casual while playing a piece. This looks downright fun.
I don't even go for walks in the countryside any more. I just close my eyes and listen to this on the couch.

I love that the conductor expresses the affect of the pieces in not only his gestures but in his facial expressions.
The sound engineer did a fantastic job on this one. And the orchestra's playing was delicate, subtle, inspired, brilliant. A delight to listen.

My favorite this symphony is extraordinary surprises,
and full of emotions and pleasures
To have been able to see it live would have been an unforgettable experience. How i love beethoven's 6th.
Sir Jarvi produces magic. This is a standard i never heard before.

This is one of my favourite sinfonies and Paavo Järvi is marvelous conducter
One of the finest performances I have ever heard/seen. The directing is phenomenal.
"Paavo Jarvi : "simply the Best" is the Best 6th Beethoven Symphony I ever listened ..Gorgeous ! thank you dear Maestro

You might wish to read "The Ninth Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven and Other Lost Songs" by Carter Scholz.

Andy Saenz I would want to as well but he was a pretty angry man so you would have to be careful!
The Fifth, Third and of course the Ninth symphonies get all the love, for good reason too, but the Sixth is my favorite. The Seventh is amazing too.

In one word : FANTASTIC. Very, very good conductor.

The most beautiful musical composition ever created is the 6th symphony by Beethoven.
One of the best interpretations I have had the pleasure of listening to.
Beethoven. Deaf. Could hear through the ears of millions. Its as beautiful now as a senior as it was to me as a child.
Lively, sharp and fresh. A wonderful performance.
Beethoven's mind was fast. So is his music. Järvi understands this.
Blessed are those who listen this music!!!
hard to imagine one man devised this in his head and wrote it down.
