  • This is a basic implementation of L2 services across an mpls enabled core, we turn up a p2p customer and a full mesh customer. Leverage bgp autodiscovery and service instances for the AC.

    Thank you Victor. It's an excellent tutorial to learn VPLS and AToM (pseudo-wire), clear and to the point.

    One question. Why to check the arp table of the core router in order to find the ip address of the end device connected in a vpls service?

    • @fireprotocol
      @fireprotocol  6 років тому

      Hey Shashank, if I understand you correctly, I think a good example would be when for instance, some providers will use a VPLS in order to connect deployed CPEs to a common management network, so they would use a VPLS routed interface (JunOS) or BVI (IOS-XR) in order to route that traffic, then it would make sense to check the ARP table of one of the PEs or any VPLS enabled router.

      Victor
      Yes sir. You are correct. My task is to find out the management ip of power rectifiers directly connected to Alcatel lucent 7210 Sap port. On this sap port Vpls service is configured. Further it is connected to Cisco Asr 9010 router where we need to check the arp table and get the ip address of the rectifier with the help of mac address obtained from fdb table of alu 7210 switch. My query is why only in cisco asr router we get the ip details?.is it becos it is configured as default gateway in rectifier ip configuration?

    Thanks a lot for this video. You gave me a treasure Victor. If you want emulate qnq you can use IOL I86BI_LINUXL2-ADVENTERPRISE-M), Version 15.2(HI_20170202), this image works like a sharm. Hope you can do another with qnq. Thanks again

    hi Victor, thanks for giving such a good explanation for l2vpn.
    when vpls configuration, is it necessary to setup a bgp configuration of route reflector and what is the purpose of setting a route reflector configuration??
    thanks
    Uday

    • @fireprotocol
      @fireprotocol  7 років тому +1

      Hey Uday, thank you for your kind comment, you don't NEED to have an LSR acting as a route reflector, normally you would setup route reflectors to avoid having to fully mesh all the iBGP neighbors, instead, you peer all nodes to the route reflector in a "hub and spoke" fashion, hence avoiding the full mesh of iBGP neighbors, the other way around is confederations, there is a lot of information and vendor documentation on the internet, I would encourage you to do a google search on this, good luck !
